Dear Members, With spring finally arriving and leaving winter behind us, we can begin to get excited for the great 2019 season ahead. The Irrigation Project is well underway, and it is exciting to see the progress being made on the golf course and around the entire club. Our partners at Landscapes Unlimited have been doing amazing work with staying on schedule, keeping our course playable and working with our management team and membership. These four weeks have been great so far and I am excited to see what the next couple months will bring. We have also had a great start to the year with our Visionary Preview Program adding 35 new families to our community. It has been amazing introducing these members into our community as nearly a third of these are re-joining members from years past. Again, demonstrating that our vision of being the preferred private club for creating extraordinary experiences and memorable stories for our families and guests is true for our club. This promotion which includes a half-priced initiation fee and dues credits will end June 30th, so make sure you share it with your friends and family NOW! For full details on this program, see page 5 or to setup a tour today by contacting me at 402.489.7111. This year of constant changes and improvements is proving to be a challenge for our management team but we are up to the task and will do our best to keep the membership informed of everything happening around our club. Please make sure you follow us on our social media and read your weekly emails to see the latest club information. Sincerely,
A Message from the General Manager
Zach Tyson

FROM THE PRO’S PERSPECTIVE Spring is an exciting time of year at Hillcrest. With the arrival of warmer weather, it is great to see golfers again. If you have not had a chance, please come out to enjoy your golf course and its beauty. The irrigation project is underway and as you play the course, and you will see workers and ground construction. We ask that you use caution when driving or walking in these areas. If your ball comes to rest in an area of construction or sod, please take free relief as ground under repair. This is an appropriate time to remind our members of our policies to help you enjoy your golfing experience even more. Beginning May, our summer dress code policy will be in effect. Please see the policies on page 28 of this edition of the Highlights. We also remind you to check in with the golf staff before your round, so we can ensure you and/or your guests are properly registered. Beginning this season when using a riding cart, members will need to receive a key from the golf shop staff. All golf rounds begin on the front nine unless otherwise announced. Starting your round on the back nine must first have approval from the golf shop staff. If you will not be using a reserved tee time, please inform the golf shop as soon as possible to ensure other members have an opportunity to play. Thank you in advance for adhering to these important policies. Hillcrest is thrilled once again to be a local qualifying site for The National Drive, Chip and Putt Championship on June 1st. The finals will be held at The Augusta National Golf Club in April of 2020. This is a great opportunity for local juniors as well as our very own Hillcrest junior golfers to compete in this fun and rewarding event. For more details or to register, please visit www.drivechipandputt.com. The Nebraska PGA will be on site operating the Drive, Chip & Putt qualifier. The PGA has asked for volunteers from Hillcrest to help on the day of the competition. If you are interested in being a volunteer for this special day, please contact me at 402.489.8181 or (DCP Committee Captain) Kyle Hershberger at 402.499.3749 or kyle@crossfinancial.com. The Drive, Chip and Putt competition will be using the driving range and large practice green. The golf course will still be available for regular member play. In closing, our Men’s and Women’s Club Championships will be held mid-May. These events have moved up in our schedule to avoid most of the course work during irrigation instillation. Please see the ads in this edition of the Highlights for more information. I encourage all golfers to participate in your club championships. Sincerely, Mike Brown

Dear Members, Summer is my favorite season. It’s always great to see so many families enjoying time together at the pool. Please resist the temptation to keep everyone so busy this summer and make sure to leave enough time for your family to slow down a bit and relax at our beautiful pool. Outdoor time by the water does so much for everyone’s mind, body and soul. Enjoy! At Hillcrest, one of our main goals is to make swim lessons fun. It is such an important (and potentially lifesaving) skill, that we really strive to offer lessons that children get excited about going to. Summer is the best time to enroll in swim lessons, since there are so many opportunities to practice skills between lessons. A good goal to set for your children is to successfully complete all five levels of group lessons. The recommended age to start is 4 years old, and our group lessons are also open to grandchildren of members. To sign up, you can email me (bk04745@windstream.net) or sign up at the pool when we have opened for the season. Swim and dive team provides families with a sport that siblings can do together. Practices are later in the morning and everyone attends both practices and meets together. Members can become stronger swimmers, develop socially and learn how to be a part of a team. The first week of practice is always a free “try-out” week. For this first week, all 11–18 year olds will practice from 10:30 AM–11:15 AM, and swimmers age 10 and under will practice from 11:15 AM to 12:00 PM. We are fortunate to have many coaches coming back to help out again this summer. This year’s coaches are: Joseph Berrick and Claire Griffin with 8 and unders, Jordan Brozek and Olivia Coffey with 9-10 year olds, Jordan Coffey and Jeanette Keller with 11-12 year olds, Crew Keller with 13-18 year olds, and Maddie Tolly and Erin Mapson with divers. Those who register for swim/dive team by May 15th will receive their team t-shirts during the first week of practice. We hope to see many swimmers and divers at our Pre-Season Clinics. The swim team clinic is highly recommended for anyone new to our Hillcrest team, as well as those who are eager to get some extra coaching before we officially start the season. The dive clinic is a unique opportunity for members (ages 6–18) to learn from some of the best coaches in the state! I love seeing the awesome new dives that participants learn during this week! In addition to the coaches who are returning, we are also happy to have the following staff members returning: Jacob Olson, Allison and Nick McElroy, Alexa Easley, and Braydon Williams. New to this summer’s pool staff are Anna Coffey, James Dalton and Quinn Keller. Our introductory scuba class went well last summer, and if you missed the opportunity to participate last year and would like to try it this year, let me know. We would like to remind you that any non toilet-trained children MUST wear swim diapers. If you forget to bring your own, we have spare swim diapers for your convenience at Teencrest. Your help with this matter is greatly appreciated. As always, please remember to check in at the sign-in desk every time you come to swim (whether you are bringing guests or not). I look forward to seeing everyone soon! Jeanette Keller

Greetings, It's hard to believe we finally have nice weather after the winter we've had. I am very excited to announce Chris Stock, Mason Williams and Bridget McKeegan will back to help this year! Also, please welcome one of the top high school players in the state to our staff: Joe "JoJo" Harris! Please take a look at the following pages for great tennis opportunities for both juniors and adults. We try to offer tennis for all ages and levels. Please let me know if you're interested and we can try to create other opportunities if you would like options for evenings or weekends. Remember, if you let us know, we can always set up the ball machine for your use at almost any time! If you have thoughts about trying tennis or getting back into it, maybe our new Wednesday Family Tennis Night (simultaneous Adult & Youth Clinics) will appeal to you. Weather delays and cancellations will be relayed to you and your specific class as long as you give us an email address to reach you at.
