General Manager Andy Reetz

Dear Hillcrest Members, At the time of this writing we are in the midst of our holiday season and ready to close the chapter on another successful year at Hillcrest Country Club. Before turning our sights to the New Year, I want to reflect on some of the highlights of 2014. One of our most significant achievements this past year was the facility upgrade that included the: ~ Main Floor Bathroom Remodel ~ Second Floor Office Renovation

~ Main Lobby Refurbishment ~ Renovation of the Upper Level of the Men’s Locker Room

Many Hillcrest members were responsible for these improvements. First and foremost, I would like to thank the East “O” and Hillcrest Board of Directors for their support of these facility upgrades. I would also like to recognize the following members for their contributions to the projects: ~ Jim Berg and Darin Hanigan at BVH Architectural Firm ~ Tim Donner with Cheever Construction ~ Tyler Swanson with Ernie’s in Ceresco ~ Lynn Knuth with Foundation Building Materials ~ Gabe Kidwell with Kidwell Technologies ~ Susie D’Amico for design and décor of all remodel projects. Along with this capital improvement and remodel, the East “O” and Hillcrest Board of Directors successfully completed the negotiation and settlement with the county and city for the development of 98th street. This was a project that took a little longer than expected but thanks to the commitment and perseverance of both Board of Directors, our historic 86 year old golf course will be preserved.

Membership Our greatest asset is our membership and Hillcrest continues to maintain over 465 memberships, ranging in an assortment of junior, senior and social memberships. This past season over 50 families joined our club. As you already know member recruitment is essential for the clubs continued success and the majority of new members to Hillcrest typically are introduced to the club by you, our current members. That is why, with the upcoming spring season, the Board of Directors re-established last years membership initiative. Please take a look at page 4, outlining our new membership specials and share them with those who you think would enjoy all Hillcrest has to offer. If I can be of assistance to anyone interested in membership, please contact me at 402.489.7111.

Outdoor Activities After the holiday season, the outdoor activities seem a long way off, as it is hard to remember the warm days on the golf course or the sunny days at the pool. However, believe it or not, those days are not that far away and our Pros are already gearing up for another successful season. Director of Golf, Mike Brown has again recruited Charlie Borner this year, to be our Ambassador of Golf. Our team of Mike, Jerad and Charlie has proven to be instrumental towards the development of Junior Golf, Membership Recruitment and our Golf Events. Our Grounds and Greens Committee along with Superintendent Brian Hellbusch are continuing to look at ways to enhance our golf course, some of which will take place along our east boundary. Jeanette Keller and her Waterbugs will defend their title again this year, as City Champs. Sam Nelson will be returning for his eighth season as our tennis pro and will continue to build up our tennis department for our member’s enjoyment. Please mark your calendars for “Meet the Pro’s” on April 26th.

Social Activities This past year the club hosted many successful member events including the 45 th Annual Celebrity Member Guest Tournament, Mother’s Day Buffet and record numbers for our Kid’s Halloween Party and Breakfast with Santa events just to name a few. We also had the honor of developing a committee of ladies, who helped us to expand and develop our family events and programs. Our “Ladiescrest” members were essential to the success of our Halloween Party, Breakfast with Santa and Mom’s Day Out events this year. The Ladiescrest Committee is very excited about the upcoming Father Daughter Dance on February 7th and the Cowboy Round-Up on March 28, in the first quarter of the year. Along with these new events, the Hillcrest team will be bringing back some of your favorites such as: ~ Friday Night Bottomless Wine ~ Family Night Dinner Specials ~ Hillcrest’s 45th Annual Pitch Tournament

~ Sushi Buffet (Featuring Fuji Sushi and Grill) ~ Valentine’s Day Date Night ~ New Member Welcome and Membership Appreciation

These events, coupled with the Board of Directors vision of maximizing the benefits of your membership, truly make Hillcrest the place for you to enjoy your leisure hours and build lasting friendships. I hope that as you look forward into the spring and summer months, that you are as excited as the staff and I are for all that Hillcrest has to offer. Sincerely,

Andy Reetz General Manager

Dear Members;

Director of Golf

Happy New Year! As you read this, we are a little under 60 days from March (and, hopefully, warmer golf days). I am excited for 2015, and I know you are as well. First of all, I want to thank each of you for making the 2014 golf season fantastic! This is a special club because of your strong support, participation and committee volunteerism.

Mike Brown Jerad and I have been working with our golf committees to create some new golf opportunities for the coming season. Some details are pending, however, here is a preview. Junior Golf is the future of Hillcrest, and we are excited to expand the Hillcrest Hornet Team Golf program. The Hornets were a young team in 2014, however, they really gained a great amount of experience from pre-season golf training as well as their tournament schedule. Coach Jerad Palmer would like to grow the program to 3 teams this season. If you have a youngster from age 7-13 looking for fun way to develop their golf skills in a team setting and would like more information, please contact Coach Jerad Palmer at 402-489-8181 or email jpalmer@hillcrestcountryclub.com. Enrollment for our summer golf program will begin April 26th. We are currently signing up individuals for Hornet Team Golf. Hillcrest is proud to have been selected as the 2015 host site for the Nebraska Drive, Chip and Putt Sub-Regional Qualifier. (Event date: June 13, 2015) Qualifiers from our event will advance for an opportunity to qualify at a region site (TBA) to go to Augusta National. Our Ladies’ Golf Association Chairperson, Michelle Ober, and her committee have met this fall and winter to prepare the Ladies’ calendar of events and tournaments. Over several years, our Hillcrest Ladies’ Association has built the best golf program in the state! Today, it continues to evolve and offer something for every level of play. If you have not participated in the Ladies’ Golf Association, I would encourage you to give it a try. You will not be sorry. The game of golf is one of the best ways to spend time with friends, get some exercise and just have a few laughs. Please check out the Ladies’ calendar of events when it is released this spring. Become a part of the team!

We are what all the Buzz is about HILLCREST HORNETS

TEAM GOLF is for the junior golfer 7-11 years in age for boys and 7 – 13 years in age for girls with beginning level golf experience and offers an introduction to tournament play through 9-hole team competitions. TEAM GOLF will serve as a fun, social and less stressful approach to tournament golf providing juniors with knowledge and skills that encourage long term youth development and a lifetime of golf enjoyment. Our Hillcrest Hornets had great success last year and had a lot of fun! It’s a great way for your Junior Golfer to get involved and improve their Golf game. I’m hoping we can continue to grow and have multiple teams this year. For more information please contact PGA Assistant Jerad Palmer at 402-489-8181 or jpalmer@hillcrestcountryclub.com
