Dear Hillcrest Members, It looks like we finally pushed through the tropical season and officially made it to summer!
General Manager Andy Reetz
Tony & Amy
Thanks to the expertise of our Grounds and Greens Superintendent, Brian Hellbusch, the golf course has held up and is in excellent condition. The month of June was outstanding as we had many successful events. One event that the Hillcrest Membership should be very proud of is the Drive, Chip and Putt Qualifier that Hillcrest Country Club hosted. Our Director of Golf (Mike Brown) reported that we hosted 104 participants with our very own, Kaitlyn Dumler and Hunter Hall, that will move onto the Regional Qualifier in Kansas City with a chance to then qualify for the Championship at the Masters in Augusta, GA. The event was a Miller great showing for Hillcrest and one we were very honored to host.
Ken & Michele Richards

The Hillcrest Board of Directors, Food and Beverage Committee and management team are always looking for ways to improve our members overall club experience. This experience takes a different form for each member, however, we believe we have identified something that will be an improvement for our entire membership. Effective Monday, May 11, 2015 we will remove the twenty percent Club Fee from all member dining experiences. Please make sure you are tipping your service staff appropriately for their service. Our Banquet facility will continue to have a twenty percent club fee in place for all private events and caterings. We appreciate your continued support of Hillcrest. Please feel free to contact the management team if you have any questions.

Dear Members; Our Member-Member Championship was contested in May. Congratulations to our Champions: Neal Roehrs and Marc Munford. Their score of 129 gave them a one shot victory over team Rick Erickson / Rick Evans and team Scott Rein / Vance Stauffer (See the full list of flight winners in this issue). Director of Golf Mike Brown
The Women’s Solheim Cup was rain shortened, however, that did not dampen the strong playing of our winning team: Ashley Tenopir and Jessica Tomasek. A 107 two day total sent Tenopir and Tomasek to a 5 shot victory. The Hillcrest Masters was held June 6th and 7th, and it was very competitive! Spencer Hilsabeck is Hillcrest’s 2015 Masters Champion winning the stroke play championship. Spencer posted scores of 73 and 72 for a 145 total. This was good for a five shot victory. Neal Roehrs and Chris Ober battled for 2 nd and 3rd place with Roehrs edging out Ober by one shot to finish as the runner up. The net division was just as exciting with Bob Graves and Mark Ogle splitting the first place prize. Both players finished with two day net scores of 154 (See results in this issue). Thank you to all who participated in these great events! See you on the course,
Mike Brown

Social Member Golf Privilege
A Social Golf Membership affords a playing privilege a total of 6 times annually. These rounds are not transferable and are considered redeemed if 9 or 18 holes have been played. A social member may rent the use of a riding cart. Reservations for play must be arranged by calling the golf shop 402-489-8181.
Guest Play
A playing guest may be hosted for golf a total of 6 times annually and is inconsequential of the member hosting. This includes men’s stags, men’s golf breakfast and ladies guest events. All guest rounds must be registered in the golf shop and guest fees settled before play.
Handicap Policy In an ongoing effort to insure that our member-only and member plus guest events have strong participation the handicap committee will be conducting periodic handicap reviews. These reviews have been encouraged by the United States Golf Association in accordance with the USGA Handicap Manual. The main purpose behind the GHIN Handicap Service is to provide a fair Course Handicap for each player regardless of ability. Two basic premises underlie the USGA Handicap System: 1. Each player will try to make the best score at every hole in every round regardless of where the round is played. 2. The player will post every acceptable round for peer review. Therefore the golf committee is implementing an ongoing program of handicap peer review. All members who carry handicaps at Hillcrest will be subject to adjustments if their handicaps do not accurately reflect their potential playing ability. A course handicap must reflect a players best potential, not an average. The Golf Committee expects all rounds played will be posted, with the following procedures to help members ensure they are accurately posting their scores: 1. Scores must be posted using Equitable Stoke Control (see the golf shop for procedure) 2. If a round is incomplete: 13 holes or fewer, the player must post an 18-hole score. If 7 to 12 holes are played; the player must post a 9-hole score. In either case, scores for un-played holes must be recorded as par plus any handicap strokes the player is entitled to receive on the un-played holes. 3. Post all score from the tees played. 4. Score must be posted as a “Tournament Score” if the event is so designated. Member bringing guest for events should make every effort to provide an accurate handicap for that guest. If guest scores’ do not reflect the handicap provided the committee reserves the right to adjust the handicap at the completion of play. Hillcrest Country Club has enjoyed terrific participation in our various events. Many things go in to a successful event experience… event promotion, staff preparation, course condition, and most importantly member participation. If members do not feel they are competing on equal footing with other participants, event participation will erode. The golf committee once again asks you to up-hold the honor of this very unique and incredible game by posting your scores accurately. Thank you for your cooperation in all these matters. Sincerely, Hillcrest Golf Committee

Dear Member: We hope you are enjoying the new slide. A big thank you to Jim Berg, Darrin Hannigan and Tim Donner for helping with this great addition to our pool.
Aquatics Director Jeanette Keller
The swim and dive teams are off to a strong start, with over 140 participants. If you are thinking about having your child participate in swim team next summer, it would be very beneficial to enroll them in a session or two of group lessons this summer. By doing so, they will be able to get to know our staff, gain some confidence in our pool, and be better prepared to start swimming competitively. We recommend that children start swim team at age six or seven, although I have seen some very successful swimmers who did not start swimming competitively until they entered high school. (Swimmers should be able to swim 25 yards, continuously, to participate.) If you are finding it hard to work a 2 week session of group lessons into your schedule, private and semi-private swim (and dive) lessons are always an option. Lessons can be scheduled before or during pool hours, seven days a week. Private lessons can be scheduled by calling (402) 489-1840. Encourage your children to participate in our annual Youth Triathlon, on Saturday, July 18th. Distances are short, it’s a fun course, and participation ribbons, as well as trophies for the top male and female finisher in each category will be awarded. If anyone is interested in swimming a few laps in the morning, please let me know. Please remember to accompany your guests and sign them in at the sign-in desk at the pool. To ensure a safe season at the pool, we request that members with younger swimmers keep a close eye on them while using the baby pool, as we do not have a guard directly supervising that pool. Please keep in mind that a fecal accident in either pool may close both pools for approximately 24 hours, and will cause increases in labor and chemical expenses – not to mention disappointment for our members wanting to use the facility. Talk to your children about being safe around the water, and stay close if they are not strong swimmers. See you soon, Jeanette Keller
