Dear Members, It is my greatest privilege to be writing you as the General Manager of our Club! Many of you have seen me grow up here over the past decade. Beginning as a server and growing into the General Manager has been an amazing opportunity. My time here has taught me what a special place this is for so many families. The sense of community amongst our membership is unmatched in the city of Lincoln and I feel honored to be a part of this and all your families lives. This is why I choose to come to work every day, and why I am so excited to continue to be a part of Hillcrest Country Club. As our President Scott Reins indicated in his letter, there were many members who very vocally supported me during the interview process and this meant so much to me. Knowing members were in my corner was proof to me that I am the man for the job. Thank You! This summer is off to an amazing start! Our junior programs are underway with fantastic participation levels: 150 kids participating in Swim and Dive programs, 120 kids in junior Golf and over 100 in Tennis. The Hammerheads are well on their way to being leaders around the city in all our activities! Under the direction of Brian Hellbusch, our golf course and grounds are in beautiful shape. This beauty is accented by a few new amenities on the course which were donated by very generous members. Please join me in thanking Nick and Ann Cusick for the new tee markers, hole signs and 150 yard markers. Also, Lynn and Marcia Knuth for their generous addition of the 12th tee facility. These additions will be cherished for years to come. I’d be remiss if I didn't recap the highlight of our golf and social calendar, The Celebrity Invitational. This years Member/Guest was truly a fantastic tribute to Arnold Palmer and the game of golf. The Celebrity Committee of Scott and Kristi Reins, Mark and Kira Mayer, Trevor and Caroline Knuth and Derek and Jenifer Lyman were fantastic to work with and put on one heck of a show! We couldn't be more excited to congratulate Dale Roehrs and Ritch Bahe as this years champions.
Again, thank you to everyone for their support as I move forward with Hillcrest Country Club. This is a fantastic opportunity and I will make sure that I continue to execute our vision of being the preferred private club for creating extraordinary experiences and memorable stories for families and guests. Sincerely,
A Message From the General Manager

Dear Member, The Celebrity Member Guest Tournament was a huge success. “A Salute to the King” was a fitting tribute to Arnold Palmer and his connection to Hillcrest. Our committee worked with staff to seamlessly deliver an unforgettable weekend of golf and fun. We wish to extend our thanks to Scott & Kristi Reins, Mark & Kira Mayer, Derek & Jen Lyman, and Trevor & Caroline Knuth for their tireless work. The golf course was in superb shape, and Brian Hellbusch and his staff had the greens in unbelievable condition all week. Congratulation to Dale Roehrs and his partner and friend Ritch Bahe on great win. Ritch played solid all week, however, the topper came during the final round as Dale fired a career best 66 which wrapped up the tournament win. This was Dale’s best score in over 30 years of playing in the Celebrity. Great playing Dale! We are proud of all of our flight winners! Please see the recap in this addition of the Highlights. See you on the course,
Mike Brown

Dear Members, Summer pool activities got off to a strong start, as both of our pre-season swim team and diving clinics experienced high participation numbers. It was so awesome to see two elite level diving coaches. Kris Hoffman of Nebraska Diving Club, and Natasha Chikina, the Head Coach for the University of Nebraska, working with our divers. I hope they can continue to come and help out in the future. Our Swim and Dive Team is strong again with over 130 kids participating. This year we also had over 50 young members participate in group swim lessons. If you can squeeze in a session or two of our group lessons for your children this summer, you should see great progress. All of the extra water time during the summer really helps. We will start children as young as 3 ½; and private or semi-private lessons can be arranged to fit your schedule, as well. Our third session begins July 10th. The fourth session (which starts July 24th) class times shift to 11:15 a.m., so that students can enjoy the pool when it opens at Noon. Congratulations to Stephen and Matthew Vieyra, the 2017 Father’s Day Cardboard Boat Race Champions. Thank you to all of the fathers and kids, who participated, for providing some great entertainment! During the open week of group swim lessons, we will be having a swim team stroke clinic on Monday, July 3 rd, Thursday, July 6th, and Friday, July 7th from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. Swim team members will get the chance to spend some extra time with their coach, focusing on swim team specific skills, in preparation for the upcoming championship meet. Cost is just $5/class. We are planning to have a league relay meet this year at Hillcrest, on July 10th. It should give swimmers one more opportunity to compete in a fun, relaxed meet before the Championship Meet at Bob Devaney. Every year, I am amazed at the strength and endurance displayed by our young members at the Youth Triathlon. It really is a fun event…encourage your child or grandchild to participate this year! It will be held on Saturday morning, July 8th. We are hoping to get a small group together, several mornings a week, to swim laps. Please let me know if you might be interested. Please remember to accompany your guests and sign them in at the sign-in desk when using the pool. See you at the pool!
