Dear Members, Hillcrest Country Club’s official stance on this winter season is that we are ready for it to go away! We survived the dreadful rains in October and November, the dismal December and January and finally we are through the frigid February…bring on spring! The Hillcrest Team has been active in the past few months with planning for a fun construction year ahead, and now we want weather to cooperate so that we can kick off the season right! These past few months have been filled with many exciting developments on the Traditions Capital Campaign. Our membership has stepped up tremendously with commitments of $1.6M (our goal was $1.2M). It’s safe to say that we have an amazingly supportive membership that truly cares about our club’s past, present and future. I am excited to share more information with you as it develops, so keep an eye on our social media, website and emails for the newest information on fundraising, timelines and activity regarding the capital improvements. This year we are taking our club offerings to a new level. Our amazing clubhouse team has planned an exciting spring for the entire membership. Our Breakfast at Hillcrest on Sunday, March 24th is the perfect event for all our darling mothers and daughters who want a fun day at the club. The Win Big Wine Wednesday pot will be well over $200 soon and is an exciting opportunity for every club member to enjoy good wine and dinner with a chance to win big. As always, we are excited about our spring holiday offerings that are sure to meet every family’s needs: Breakfast with the Easter Bunny, The Grand Easter Buffet and Palm Sunday Brunch. We are also excited to announce so many different offerings in our golf, swim and tennis programs as well. We’ve updated our Junior Golf offerings to put a focus on both fun introduction to the game as well as taking those gifted players to the next level. For full details on all the updates and offerings make sure you attend Meet the Pros and Hillcrest Expo on Sunday, April 28th, which will now also include vital information for adult programs and food tastings from our kitchen. As I’ve said many times, this is a great time to be a part of Hillcrest Country Club. With our club offering the Visionary Preview Program again this year it is also a great time to take advantage of monthly credits for helping our club grow. We are excited about all the things happening at our club and hope you are too. Sincerely,

A Message from the General Manager

Zach Tyson

Dear Members, This should be an exciting year for the Club, as we look forward to our new pool opening in 2020! I recently attended the Heartland Athletic Conference Swim Meet at the new Dillon Family Aquatic Facility in Fremont. The conference grew this year, with the addition of Pius X, Kearney and Norfolk, so it was great to be able to have this meet at a larger facility; and it was very fun to see so many of our members and coaches compete! There were 18 current and former Hillcrest swimmers, divers and coaches who made their school’s Conference teams and 15 who made their school’s State teams. Current members/coaches who participated in the Conference and/or State Meets include: Lincoln East: Ellie Buresh, Claire Griffin, Abby Lewis, Sydney Moore, Hattie Vyhlidal , Jake Buresh, Charles Roberts; Lincoln Southeast: Maddie Hesse; Lincoln Pius X: Ava Heasty, Olivia Theil, Jordan Coffey, Eli Vyhlidal; Lincoln Southwest: Louis Antinoro; Norris: Carson Monhollon; and Lincoln Northeast: Quinn Keller. We also had 4 swimmers/coaches representing their colleges this year: Caroline Theil (Texas A & M), Emily Artz (South Dakota State), Jordan Brozek and Braly Keller (Nebraska Wesleyan University). Congratulations to all! I’m always hopeful that all of our swimmers and divers will participate on their high school and college teams. As a high school swimmer or diver, they will do so much better in school and the emotional, physical and academic benefits will last a lifetime! If you are thinking of starting your young swimmer on swim team this summer, consider enrolling them in spring lessons, as it will help them start off stronger and more confident. There is no minimum age to join swim team, but we recommend age six (if they areable to swim 25 yards). Spring lessons also provide a little “peace of mind” for parents whose young swimmers will be spending more time around the water in the summer. Hillcrest families do such a great job of scheduling camps and vacations around our Championship Meets. Please mark your calendars for Swim Championships (Monday, July 15th), our Team Pizza Party (Tuesday, July 16th), Dive Championships (Thursday, July 18th) and our Banquet (Tuesday, July 23rd). The swim league is planning to start the season off with a fun, introductory meet on Monday, June 10th. Registration for summer programs begins at Meet the Pros on Sunday, April 28th. Don’t forget to locate those team suits and see if you need to order new ones for the summer season. The suit will be the same as last year (navy blue with our logo on it). The order deadline (to ensure that you will have them in time for the first meet) is Wednesday, May 8th. There will be a sizing kit at Meet the Pros. We really appreciate everyone who is able to attend registration. Members who sign up for programs on that day will receive two free pool guest passes. Hope to see you in April! FROM THE PRO'S PERSPECTIVE Happy 2019, This will be an exciting season of improvements at Hillcrest. From the golf course project to the new swimming pool, our members will be able to see the upgrades happen before their eyes. The irrigation installation will present some minor challenges to the golf events on our calendar. Therefore, we have moved both our Men’s and Women’s Club Championships up into the month of May. Other events will be played during the construction, and we are working with the golf committee and grounds and greens committee to ensure our events are played with as little interference as possible. Our event calendar is as strong as ever, and we are excited to get started. As many of you are aware, this is also a year of change for the Rules of Golf. In January, Hillcrest hosted an evening presentation on the rules with Justin Ahrens of the NGA for our membership. The golf staff also attended an NGA Rules Workshop for continuing education. We learned more about how some of the rule changes will affect our club, and how we will implement and update some of our local rules. Your golf staff is working with the Golf Committee on a Hillcrest “hard-card” that will update the local rules to fit the changes. We will have this on display in the golf shop and on the club’s website for our members to educate themselves. If you would like a Rules of Golf book, we will have a limited supply available this spring at no charge. Please stop by the golf shop to pick up your copy. New in 2019, our golf event calendar will have links on the club’s website to each event. You will be able to see dates, times and details. Additionally, for your convenience, you will be able to sign up early for events once the link goes live. The first half of the golf calendar will be available for sign up in March. We hope you enjoy this new feature. That is all for now. We look forward to seeing you on the course this season. Mike Brown
