Dear Hillcrest Members, What a great 2015 it has been, in so many ways! As we reflect on this past year there have been so many extraordinary experiences and memorable stories that were created for our member families and their guests. Here are a few highlights to re-share: Andy Reetz
For starters the participation in all of our Junior Programs was at an all-time high with:
Over 160 swimmers in our aquatics programs 100 plus tennis players Just over 120 junior golfers and this includes the PeeWees!
And beyond our high participation in these programs we have so much more to celebrate. Our Waterbugs were once again the City Champions for 2015. Not to mention, our very own Waterbug, Caroline Theil has qualified for the Olympic Swim Trials in Omaha next year. We were also able to participate in The Drive, Chip and Putt Challenge (an Augusta National Master’s youth program), during which long time members Glen and Ellen Lefler’s granddaughter, Megan Whittaker won her Hillcrest qualifying round. She will be advancing to Augusta National to compete in the finals next spring. Wow! Our youth events also exceeded previous year’s attendance as our Youth Triathlon grew significantly and our Kids Halloween Extravaganza was the most attended event of the year with over 450 members on hand. Our Junior Golf Divot Fill Pizza Party and our Father’s Day Cardboard Boat Races got the whole family involved in the fun once again this year, and proved to be some of our member’s favorite events. And with the help of our LadiesCrest Committee, we created some new youth events such as our Father Daughter Dance, our Mom’s Day Out and our bigger and better Breakfast with Santa (see more information for these events in this issue). These youth events capture the essence of what our club is truly about – creating extraordinary experiences and memorable stories for our families. We also threw in some fun for our young-at-heart membership such as the Cowboy Round-Up and Couples Glow Golf, which were among the most popular. Our Cowboy Round-Up Mechanical Bull was a first for Hillcrest and will be back again in 2016, so don’t miss it.

And with the hiring of new Executive Chef Jeramy Behn in 2015, we have begun to see some new dining experiences such as our Zipline Beer Dinner, Prime Rib and Pasta Husker Tailgate and our very successful Tower Dinner, as well as a new fall Dinner Menu and Lounge Menu. Also, we cannot overlook all of the improvements that have been made to our beautiful golf course and grounds. In preparation of the 98th street expansion, we took the opportunity this fall to renovate Hole #4 and improve our Range Practice Facility, as well as complete some general maintenance around holes #7, 8, 9, 17, 18. We were also able to make some needed improvements to our club entrances as we repaved the “A” street drive and a special thanks to Nick Cusick and Chris Kidwell for the addition of the new sign and lighting on the “O” street drive. What great things we have accomplished in 2015 and I have no doubt that the next fiscal year will be just as exciting. As we look forward, it is important to note that our membership is our greatest asset and current membership numbers are solid, with over 316 golfing and 155 social members. We have been very fortunate to have recruited several new members this past year but during our upcoming fall/winter season it is important that the Club continue to promote and expand our membership. Please invite your friends and family, who you think would benefit from the extraordinary experiences that Hillcrest creates, to look into our membership specials available this fall (see the following page for details). Hillcrest continues to be a club were families “grow up” together and create those life-long memorable stories. We hope you agree that these initiatives provide prospective members with a great opportunity to belong to our wonderful club and community. Please direct any interested parties to contact me for details on this great fall/winter membership package. As you look through the next several pages please take note as there are many social activities to choose from as you plan your families fall/winter schedule. Sincerely,
Andy Reetz General Manager Hillcrest Country Club

Dear Members;
Director of Golf Mike Brown
It is always fun to look back over the year, and reflect on the excitement that we all had on the golf course. From the Eliminator Tournament beginning in April to the Junior Drive, from the Chip and Putt Qualifier in June to our First Annual Glow Golf Scramble in September and all the summer holidays in between, we have enjoyed some great times and great golf this season. Your strong support in golf is why Hillcrest is such a wonderful club! The leaves are changing colors and some are falling, however, there are still plenty of beautiful days of golf ahead. There is no need to put the clubs away. Take advantage of this special time of year, and enjoy playing fall golf with friends and family at Hillcrest. The course is in fantastic shape! It will not be long before beginning a new season. 2016 will feature a newly remodeled practice tee and short game center on our driving range. The Celebrity Invitational Member-Guest will be held June 23rd, 24th and 25th 2016. Our Ladies Golf Association, as always, will be offering some fun events for our seasoned players as well as our new-to-the-game players. The junior golf program will continue to offer the best golfing opportunities in the area. See our full schedule of events in the January Highlights or on the club’s website. Gear up to spend another fun summer at your club, and enjoy all that Hillcrest has to offer! Best in Golf,

Team Clark captures The 2015 Matches at Hillcrest Day one started fast for Team Sundquist as they rattled off wins to take a 16 to 11 lead. However, in the single matches on Sunday, Team Clark showed their determination and battled back. By late day Sunday, it was a dead heat. After a weekend of 9 team matches and 18 singles matches, both teams finished tied with 40 ½ points each. A playoff ensued; Bob Cirone and Jay Forman beat Jim Berg and Skip Semin when Forman made a 5’ putt for birdie to clinch the overall title for Team Clark.
The Eliminator After a season long battle in the inaugural Eliminator, Bob Sundquist and Marlin Lyon are Champions. The runner up team of Joe D’Amico and Brad Dolson won the first match in the Championship final - 1 up on 19 holes. A second match was necessary to determine a winner. This second match was delayed due to darkness. When the final match was completed, Sundquist and Lyon won 4 & 3. Congratulations on a great campaign!
