LEAF ISLAND G21, THE WORLD This 17 acre artificial island is part of the “World”, which is an ambitious land reclamation project just 20 minutes by boat from the mainland of Umm Suqeim and 30 minutes from Jumeirah fishing harbour. Having an upland area of around 11 acres, this high-density integrated island resort development comprises of a marina to serve the entire development, high-end chalets/bungalows, mid-rise condominiums consisting of 1, 2 & 3 bed room units, and one luxury private villa. Building some of these structures on the water, both in the form of bungalows and mid-rises, provide exclusivity to the units.

KING SAUD UNIVERSITY RETAIL DEVELOPMENT The Client was seeking an entertainment venue catering to the growing student population by offering a mix of retail and food outlets plus communal facilities for students. Riyadh has a dry desert climate allowing to be comfortable outside a significant part of the year. Based on the examples throughout the region, Shading structures give the space identity and allow outdoor activities protected from the heat of the sun. The overall build up area increased considerably to accommodate 163 guestrooms and suites. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
The proposed design incorporates the elements of the Asharqia Chambers humble logo, which represents the sail of a traditional dhow. This minimalist logo has paved way to the design of a possible iconic and distinctive building in Dammam. The podium level floors are designed to be the hull, and the tower façade is designed to mimic the billowing sail of the boat itself. An architectural feature that represents the mast has been added to fulfil the concept of a sailing boat. A continuous canopy feature runs along the front and depicts waves in the sea and also lends a more dynamic appeal to the overall structure. The typical floors have a varying slab profile to cater to the façade which depicts the sail and each floor will be divided into 2 large office spaces which can be leased by client. The top of podium floor is comparable to the ‘bow of a boat’ where in lush landscape doubles up as an outbreak area for the tenants. It could also double up as an outdoor space to have gatherings when the weather is more favourable.

Entering pre construction late this summer, phase three is slated to be the most impressive addition to the award winning complex. Situated at the mouth of the Don River the LEED Gold, mixeduse development has been turning heads since breaking ground four years ago. Designed in collaboration with Saucier + Perrotte Architectes, phase three brings over three hundred residential units to a 29-storey tower situated immediately south of the elevated roadway which cuts across the site and over the river.

RIVER CITY PHASE 4 HARRIS SQUARE The fourth and final phase of the award-winning River City development, Continuing River City’s penchant for bold forms, the building is designed as a series of pentagonal plates circulating as they rise, reflecting the five sides of the site, and allowing for oversized balconies and terraces on many floors. Responding to its context, the building connects Lawren-Harris Square with Underpass Park by lifting itself up at the ground level, creating a relatively column free 6 metre high open space between the two public spaces and providing sunlight and views to the 155 units. Half of the ground level is publicly accessible and provides a pedestrian connection to Underpass Park. The pallette and materials will be similar to those found on earlier phases. Lower levels will be dominated by cast in place concrete—mirroring the supports of the Eastern Avenue flyover to the north. On upper levels, a dark smoked glass will front the angular balconies, with clear glass on the walls. Occasional highlights of metal panels are used for solid wall cladding, while at ground level green glass will be the background for the park spaces.

TORONTO & REGION CONSERVATION AUTHORITY HQ (TRCA) This project is part of a group of 16 chosen to participate in a two-year pilot of “CaGBC’s Zero Carbon Building Standard” which will help to further refine the standard, plus accompanying resources and education. TRCA’s new headquarters will be utilized as a learning centre – a living laboratory for developers, researchers, professionals and students that will contribute to the uptake of improved methods and technologies that demonstrate zero carbon features and green infrastructure restoration. An 80,000 square foot, mass timber structure designed to target LEED Platinum and WELL Silver standard, Tier 2 TGS, achieve zero carbon. As a design competition finalist, our concept takes into account the unique mountain views by setting back the entrance from the street, providing open terraces overlooking the North Mountains and allows for uninterrupted 360 degree panoramic views of Bishkek City. The atrium cone design allows for better observation views of all retail levels and by creating a reverse pyramid volume of the corridors it provides larger walkways on the lower levels, added visibility from the upper levels and directs more light inside the complex during the day. EMAAR MOSQUE The afore-illustrated design will provide for a spiritual home by integrating a sacred space with a plaza like no other, designed to act as a public and touristic place. It will allow people to walk seamlessly from Creek tower to the plaza, to the Mosque, to the Creek through well-integrated spiritual sanctum. EDITHVALE COMMUNITY CENTRE Previously operating from an existing elementary school, the redevelopment of this site creates a 50,000 s.f. community centre within a re-vitalized neighbourhood park. Located in the North York area of Toronto, the project addressed many of the growth issues experienced by a City in transition. This being the case, the project is distinguishable for it’s attempts to mend a fragmented urban fabric both architecturally and socially, becoming a beacon that supports the City’s plans to encourage development along its Avenues. GORE MEADOWS COMMUNITY CENTRE & LIBRARY Located on a 143-acre rural site, the new Gore Meadows Community & Sports Centre is a unique multiprogrammed facility containing over 300,000 s.f. for the residents of a rapidly growing multi-cultural district in Brampton. Inspired by the agricultural and natural landscape, both the site and building design reflects a modern attitude to design, yet is mindful of its past heritage. Reminiscent of the adjacent farmers’ fields, the site design is an abstract expression of linearly planted bands of selected vegetation that include perennial flower beds, framed by grids of bushes and treed orchards.

JAFFARI COMMUNITY & CULTURAL CENTRE Located on an environmentally sensitive site adjacent to a tributary of the East Don River, this new education and cultural centre provides an expanded community focus and centerpiece for one of the Muslim communities in the Greater Toronto Area. Our master plan design recognizes the natural beauty of the site in an attempt to create a campus of buildings, each with a unique yet complementary character. Building orientation towards Mecca was a fundamental organizing principle of the site plan development. The initial phase of campus construction is comprised all to accommodate 2000 people.

AL RAJHI CULTURAL CENTRE Located next to the infamous Al Rajhi Hail mosque, the style is reflecting the culture and incorporating design elements from the rich culture of the Hail region. The Al Rajhi endowment vision is to offer a multifunction facility for weddings, cultural events, large scale lectures etc. Within the cultural centre main hall. Two primary schools are envisaged to educate the girls and boys in the region beyond the standard curriculum. Extensive outdoor spaces cater to the neighbouring residential developments inviting them into the cultural centre premisses. Parking is placed in a three story underground structure which is linked to the mosque basement.

WELLESLEY COMMUNITY CENTRE Located on a compact urban site, this $11M multiuse facility includes a new community centre, public library and daycare, serving the residents of Canada’s highest density per capita neighbourhood. The 50,000 s.f. facility has become the community’s focal point, organized to provide a high level of access to community programs and events. Visual transparency from the street and within the building achieves dynamic results, such as the street-level windows of the gymnasium and the large corner window of the library. HERSHEY COMMUNITY CENTRE This $35M international caliber sports complex is a separate building to complement the award winning facilities of the adjacent Hershey Centre. Designed as a multi-purpose facility to accommodate Citywide recreation programs and sports tournaments, its largest program component is a FIFA sized indoor soccer field with a 60 ft clear ceiling height. Other major program spaces include a triple gymnasium, and a competition quality gymnastics facility for amateur and elite athletes. The main entrance to the 3 storey building occurs from the midlevel, creating a spectator concourse area that boasts simultaneous views into the three major areas of play.

LOOTAH MEDAWI HOSPITAL Medawi hospital - a family owned general hospital – is located at the heart of Al-Muheisna. The hospital design reflects a blend of traditional Arabic culture influences and modern functionalism. The site includes the main hospital building, nurses hostel and 2 service buildings. These buildings accommodate 16 specialty clinics for out-patients, 52 room + 5 VIP suits for in-patients, 5 operating theatres, pharmacy, health club, 74 rooms for staff accommodation, underground parking and other supporting medical and nonmedical facilities and services.
