Due to several issues etc. major site construction just completed past few years ago, the street activities (commercial, social and greenery) restored with various spaces to improve. Apart from that, the street can actually improve the amenities along the street in order to strengthen and create a more people-centric placemaking space, not just a major transit point, also to create an intermediate slow pace walkway for the pedestrian to have a rest. Thus, forming a more accessible, more sociable, better comfort and quality space.

Concept - City for people
As one of the most prominent city in Kuala Lumpur, Bukit Bintang is a hectic city with a great commercial opportunities. A place where people chase after their dreams and job opportunities. To bring back the street to become more people-centric, a more continuing landscape development should be done along the street to promote a more physical interaction kind of walking experience while the people are transiting, to provide interactive urban spaces, and to enhance our city for being the peer to other “front running cities.

Jalan Bukit Bintang is a typical urban street, just like other ordinary city, with commercialized buildings and businesses going along the street. It is crucial to understand that urban city supposed to be sustainable and interactive with the people, in order to classify itself as a better city for the people.

A triangle/ pocket plaza repurposes an oversized portion of the right-of-way that is frequently found when there is a break in the ground and streets cross at oblique angles. A portion of the street can often be closed and connected to leftover space 'islands' to create a new public space.

Through site analysis, we know that the high human density are concentrated mainly at the major junction. To cater a more people-centric street, i proposed to have a temporary shared street along the further southwest street. A shared street is a street that invites pedestrians, cars and cyclists to use the street space without separating the users. By removing the road surface and adding new surface treatments such as pavers to a street, the street is transformed into a space primarily for pedestrians, with bikes and cars allowed as 'guests'.

In all context, it is important to provide visual and tactile cues, to where both vehicles and people acknowledge the street is being shared at certain period of time.

Perspectives
Pocket spaces around the traffic nodes and eateries frontage serve as waiting nodes. The tulip umbrellas act as the social interaction elements that further enhance the sociability of the street users. At night, the tulip umbrellas glow elegantly for the pedestrians and its where aesthetic and functional meet each other.

Perspectives
The intermediate open space in between the MRT structures created a vantage point for people who need a stop to rest, to recharge in this hustle city. Green walkway transformed to be a soft boundary along streetside (beggarry issue etc.).
12
Perspectives
The synergy between nature, people and built environment turned the street alive. By closing certain lane of the streetway, thus return it to the people where people gather having social events, interact and enjoy their urbanscape.
