Régulier depuis le début de la saison comme en témoignent ses 11 podiums, Kevin Magnussen a son destin en main. Leader depuis juillet, le Danois peut se permettre de gérer tout en s’appuyant sur son sang-froid démontré au Circuit Paul Ricard.

A model of consistency in a season in which he has finished on the podium 11 times, Kevin Magnussen has the cards stacked in his favour.

In the points lead since July, the Dane will be looking to produce the same performance he did in France.

Après ses victoires en Hongrie et en France, Pierre Gasly pourrait devenir le plus jeune vainqueur de l’Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0. Etonnement mature pour son jeune âge, il pourra s’appuyer sur l’expérience de son équipe.

After wins in Hungary and France, Pierre Gasly is tantalisingly close to becoming Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0’s youngest ever winner. An old head on very young shoulders, the Frenchman also has an experienced team to back him up.

OLIVER ROWLAND

S’il remporte les deux courses, Oliver Rowland sera sacré quoiqu’il arrive. Vainqueur à Barcelone l’an passé, le Britannique court toutefois derrière un nouveau succès en Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 depuis le Red Bull Ring.

Breathing down his neck is Oliver Rowland, who can take the title himself if he wins both races. Though victorious in Barcelona last year, the British driver has not taken the chequered flag since the Red Bull Ring meeting in July.

ESTEBAN OCON

Troisième du classement, Esteban Ocon n’a rien à perdre. Celui qui a enfin obtenu son premier succès au Castellet doit s’imposer à deux reprises pour conserver une chance.

There is not much that 2011 champion Nicolas Milan does not know about end-ofseason dogfights. While the Frenchman might not be the fastest in qualifying, his race pace has carried him to three wins this year.

Dans la foulée de son titre en Renault Clio Cup UK, Josh Files peut s’offrir le doublé. Le plus jeune des prétendants s’est montré très régulier et aura à cœur de compenser son abandon pour revenir au contact.

Following his Renault Clio Cup UK title, Josh Files can double the lead. The youngest of the 2013 pretenders has been consistent and is keen to be back in winning ways after his first retirement at the Circuit Paul Ricard.

n Les espoirs de la monoplace seront invités à essayer les produits Renault Sport Technologies cet automne. Treize pilotes testeront Formula Renault 3.5 le 20 novembre sur le circuit de Motorland Aragón. Le 21 octobre, au lendemain de la finale des World Series by Renault, douze autres espoirs découvriront Formula Renault 2.0 sur le circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

n Backed by Caterham and Ferrari respectively, Matt Parry and Antonio Fuoco are the newly crowned champs in Formula Renault 2.0 North European Cup and Alps, adding their names to a roll of honour that also features Antonio Felix da Costa, Valtteri Bottas and Carlos Sainz. n Several young hopefuls of singleseater racing will be invited to test Renault Sport Technologies’ cars this autumn. Thirteen drivers will get a shot in Formula Renault 3.5 on 20 November at Motorland Aragón. On 21 October, very next day after the World Series by Renault finale, twelve others young guns will taste Formula Renault 2.0 at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Dès 2005, deux étapes espagnoles étaient au programme avec un passage au circuit Ricardo Tormo de Valencia et un événement très populaire dans les rues de Bilbao. Le circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya prenait le relais en 2006 pour la finale de l’événement.

Des batailles héroïques pour les titres s’y jouaient notamment en Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 en 2008 entre Valtteri Bottas et Daniel Ricciardo, aujourd’hui en F1.

There have been two Spanish meetings on the programme since 2005, when Valencia’s Ricardo Tormo Circuit hosted races along with the Bilbao street circuit, which proved very popular. Barcelona took over as the 2006 season’s final venue, providing a setting that has seen some heroic title battles, not least the 2008 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 duel between Valtteri Bottas and Daniel Ricciardo, both of whom have since graduated to F1.

Tandis que Barcelone entamait la saison 2009, un accord avec le circuit de Motorland Aragón permettait au tracé dessiné par Hermann Tilke d’accueillir à la fin de cette saison. Les positions dans le calendrier s’inversaient dès 2010 et sont depuis les mêmes : Aragón est le premier rendez-vous de l’année, Barcelone l’épreuve finale des World Series by Renault.

In 2009 Barcelona staged WSR’s opening weekend, while the Hermann Tilke-designed Motorland Aragon brought the curtain down on the campaign. The two Spanish tracks swapped positions on the calendar the following year and have stayed there ever since, with Aragon now first on the programme and Barcelona last.

En 2014, le circuit de Jerez s’ajoutera à la liste des tracés espagnols visités. Pour certains acteurs, cette piste ne sera pas une totale inconnue puisque la Formula Renault 3.5 Series y avait effectué des essais de pré-saison en 2010. Deux journées à l’issue desquelles un certain Jean-Eric Vergne avait été le plus rapide.

Next year will see Jerez join the list of WSR’s Spanish venues. The Andalusian track is not a complete stranger to the series, having welcomed the Formula Renault 3.5 Series for pre-season testing in 2010, a two-day visit during which Jean-Eric Vergne outpaced everyone.

CLAP DE FIN POUR L’EUROCUP MÉGANE TROPHY

Présente depuis la création des World Series

by Renault en 2005, l’Eurocup Mégane Trophy va marquer une pause en 2014. Le bilan de la catégorie mue par un moteur V6 Renault 3.5l de 400 chevaux s’élèvera probablement à neuf champions différents en autant de saisons.

Courses animées et batailles portières contre portières continueront toutefois en Eurocup Clio la saison prochaine.

TIME OUT FOR EUROCUP MEGANE TROPHY

A fixture of the World Series by Renault since its creation in 2005, Eurocup Megane Trophy will be taking a break in 2014. The category, powered by a 3.5L V6 Renault engine delivering 400bhp, is this year likely to crown its ninth different champion in as many seasons.

Thanks to Eurocup Clio, however, WSR will still be serving up plenty of thrilling, door-to-door racing over the next few years.
