La saison 2012 s’achève de la plus belle des façons puisque les titres des quatre disciplines des World Series by Renault se joueront à l’occasion du dernier meeting, disputé sur le circuit de Catalogne.

La Formula Renault 2.0 Alps livrera également son verdict en Espagne et le suspense est donc à son comble pour cette finale de rêve.

The 2012 season is set for an exciting finale, with all four World Series by Renault titles to be decided at the last meeting of the year at Catalunya. The final act of the Formula Renault 2.0 Alps championship race will also be played out in Barcelona, adding even more suspense to what promises to be a thrilling weekend.

« Technique et rapide à la fois » “It’s a technical and quick track” Le circuit de Catalogne est un circuit que tous les pilotes connaissent bien, puisque de nombreuses séances d’essais y sont organisées. Le Danois Marco Sorensen met le doigt sur les pointsclés de ce tracé.

Le deuxième secteur est rapide. La première difficulté est le virage numéro 5 car il y a du grip en entrée de courbe puis on perd de l’adhérence. Ensuite le gauche-droite qui conditionne la montée est intéressant car on ne voit pas le point de corde à cause du relief.

C’est une partie où il faut jouer avec les vibreurs et rester fluide pour ne pas casser la vitesse de la voiture.

The second sector is fast. The first problem comes at Turn 5 because there’s grip as you go in and then none at all on the exit. The left-right turn that sets you up for the climb is a challenge because the lie of the land means you can’t see the apex. You need to play with the kerbs here and stay loose or you’ll lose speed.

Denmark’s Marco Sorensen gave us the lowdown on Catalunya, which regularly hosts testing sessions and is well-known by all the drivers.

Le dernier secteur est moins intéressant et moins rapide, mais comme souvent c’est dans ce genre de portion que l’on peut perdre du temps. Il y a encore du dénivelé et la principale difficulté ici est la dernière chicane. Il faut freiner tard et fort, mais surtout ne pas trop arrêter la voiture car la sortie va conditionner la dernière courbe et donc la très longue ligne droite. C’est un bon casse-tête.

The last sector is less interesting and not as quick, but as is often the case, it’s in parts of the track like this that you can lose time. The ground goes up and down again and the biggest problem here is the last chicane. You have to brake late and hard but make sure you don’t slow down too much because the last turn and the very long straight that follows it all depend on how you exit. It’s a real tester.

La première partie est très intéressante et conditionne le rythme du tour. Il faut soigner la sortie du premier droite/gauche afin de pouvoir passer à fond la longue courbe à droite, très caractéristique. C’est un virage que j’adore. Il faut ensuite freiner en appui pour le droite suivant. Il s’ouvre beaucoup en sortie. Attention donc à ne pas sortir de la ligne de course.

The first part is very interesting and determines how much pace you’ll have for the rest of the lap. You have to make sure you come out of the first right/left-hander in the right shape so you can go flat out on the long right-hander, which is a very typical turn. I love it. You then need to trail brake for the next right-hander, which opens out a lot as you exit, so you have watch the racing line.

LES ENJEUX AT STAKE

Jules Bianchi, Robin Frijns, Sam Bird... Trois hommes pour un titre ! Le Français a l’avantage d’arriver en tête de la Formula Renault 3.5 Series à Barcelone. Mais avec uniquement 5 points d’avance sur Robin Frijns, il n’est pas en position de gérer. Relégué à 24 longueurs du leader, Sam Bird est quasiment condamné à remporter la première course s’il veut pouvoir jouer sa chance jusqu’à la fin.

Jules Bianchi, Robin Frijns and Sam Bird are the three men gunning for the Formula Renault 3.5 Series title in Barcelona, with the Frenchman a mere five points clear of Robin Frijns. Great Britain’s Sam Bird is a further 19 points back and will almost certainly have to win Race 1 if he is to have a chance of snatching the championship.

Daniil Kvyat et Stoffel Vandoorne se rendent coup sur coup dans ce duel haletant pour le titre en Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0. Le Belge dispose de 11 points d’avance et son objectif sera de terminer devant le Russe lors des deux courses. Kvyat n’a pas de calcul à faire, le plus simple pour lui est de gagner les deux dernières confrontations, ce qui l'assurerait du titre, même si Vandoorne était deux fois deuxième.

Daniil Kvyat and Stoffel Vandoorne have been trading blows all the way through their pulsating Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 duel. Holding an 11-point advantage going into the final weekend, the Belgian just needs to finish ahead of his rival in both races to make sure of the title, while the Russian knows that two wins will make him the champion, no matter where his opponent finishes.

Il va devoir s’employer pour capitaliser ses 16 points d’avance, car Bas Schothorst est prêt à tout pour aller chercher un titre qu’il espère depuis trois saisons.

Eurocup Megane Trophy rookie Albert Costa is hoping to make the championship his on home soil. The Spaniard spent the first part of the season watching Bas Schothorst pull away from him before a run of five straight wins thrust him to the top of the standings with a 16-point cushion. However, having waited for three seasons to make the title his, Bas Schothorst is in no mood to give up the fight.

Mais Marc Guillot et Mike Verschuur maitrisent également ce tracé. Le Français et l’Espagnol pourront compter sur le renfort de leurs équipiers, tandis que le Néerlandais s’affiche seul contre tous.

Two points separate the top three of Marc Guillot, Oscar Nogues and Mike Verschuur, and while the second-placed Spaniard has home advantage, the two men either side of him are very familiar with the Catalunya track. Unlike his two championship foes, Dutchman Verschuur has no team-mates to call on, a factor that could weigh against him in the final reckoning.

Marc Guillot a remporté son premier titre en sport automobile en s’adjugeant la Clio Cup France, le week-end dernier sur le circuit de Ledenon.

Le Français est encore en lice pour le titre en Clio Cup Espagne et en Eurocup Clio.

Eurocup Clio championship leader Marc Guillot clinched the Clio Cup France at Ledenon last weekend, the first title of his career. The Frenchman is also in the running for the 2012 Clio Cup Spain crown.

Grâce à deux victoires au Mugello devant Norman Nato et Paul-Loup Chatin, Daniil Kvyat s’est rapproché du titre en Formula Renault 2.0 Alps. Avant la finale qui se déroule ce week-end dans le cadre des World Series by Renault, le Russe compte 13 points d’avance sur Nato. Troisième à 44 points, Chatin est distancé.

Daniil Kvyat came home ahead of Norman Nato and Paul-Loup Chatin in both races at Mugello to take a big step towards the Formula Renault 2.0 Alps title.

Ahead of the final round, which will formpart of this weekend’s World Series by Renault meeting, the Russian holds a 13-point lead over Nato, with 44 points back in third.

Ma première course Toujours en 2000 et en karting, en Catalogne. J’ai signé la pole position et j’ai gagné la course. J’ai fait des temps plus rapides que les professionnels.

Mon circuit préféré Spa-Francorchamps.

Mon pilote préféré Fernando Alonso, car même quand la voiture n’est pas au top, il fait la différence.

La personne décisive dans mon parcours Mon père et mon frère. Ils m’ont donné l’esprit de compétition.

La première chose que je fais en rentrant d’une course Je repense à la course, quand la pression est retombée.

Le métier que j'aurai aimé faire si je n'avais pas été pilote Acteur. J’ai pris des cours pour cela. Journaliste ou les métiers de la communication, cela m'intéresse également.

Ma matière préférée à l’école ?

Soyons honnête, l’école ce n’était pas mon truc. Le pire de tout, c’était les maths et la seule matière qui m'intéressait c’était l’anglais, car on en a besoin en sport automobile.

Le réseau social auquel je suis accro Je préfère Facebook, mais je me mets petit à petit à Twitter et Instagram. Je gère moi-même les trois.

Mon lieu de vacances favori Punta Cana... mais je n’y suis jamais allé !

My first drive It was in 2000 in karting, when I was 10.

My first race That was also in 2000 in karting, at Catalunya. I qualified on pole position and won the race. I recorded faster times than the professionals.

Je suis immédiatement allé plus vite que mon ami qui m’avait prêté le kart !
