The World Series by Renault season is about to enter the final straight, with just the meetings at Paul Ricard and Barcelona.The first championship trophies of the year could well be handed out in the south of France, where there is also plenty of excitement in store off the track, thanks to a superb array of activities and entertainment on the ground and the aerial antics of the French Air Force’s aerobatic display team.

La partie la plus technique du circuit est une histoire de compromis. Mal sortir du "virage de l'hôtel" peut avoir une incidence sur la Vmax au gros freinage de la chicane, qui entrecoupe la longue ligne droite et qui est le meilleur endroit pour dépasser.

You need to strike the right balance on the most technical part of the track. Get it wrong coming out of the "hotel corner" and you can lose top speed when braking hard into the chicane in the middle of the long straight, which is the best place for overtaking.

Les sensations sont fortes dans Signes, mais c’est surtout le Beausset qui est un virage unique. C’est une longue courbe où l’appui aérodynamique nous plaque au sol. Il y a plusieurs trajectoires. En fonction de l’évolution du comportement de la monoplace, elle peut décrocher d’un coup !

Signes is pretty exciting, but it’s Le Beausset that’s the unique corner. It’s a long curve where the downforce glues you to the ground. There are several lines you can take, and depending on how your car’s behaving you can run the risk of losing it altogether.

La première chicane est particulière. On arrive vite, avec un freinage en appui. Il faut soigner la sortie du gauche puisque le droite suivant se passe à fond, ce qui n’est pas simple. Il n’y a qu’une seule trajectoire car il y a comme un trou à l’intérieur.

The first chicane is a little special. You go into it fast, and trail brake. You need to be careful coming out on the left because you have to go flat out at the next right-hander, which isn’t easy.

Le tour se termine par un enchainement droite-gauche-droite. Il faut se forcer à ne pas se laisser trop embarquer à la sortie du gauche afin de bien se placer pour la dernière épingle et avoir ainsi une bonne vitesse au bout de la ligne droite des stands.

The lap ends with a right-left-right combination.

You have to work hard to stop yourself losing it on the exit of the left-hander and get into the right position for the final hairpin, and you need to keep your speed up for the home straight.

Renault, partenaire du XV de France, va mettre en place plusieurs animations consacrées au rugby au sein du paddock du Paul Ricard. Le « Tournoi des jeunes » de Beach Rugby, réservé au moins de onze ans le samedi et au moins de treize ans le dimanche, rythmera le Village Rugby. De nombreux cadeaux seront à gagner grâce au « Play Rugby » et les spectateurs pourront connaître les sensations de la mêlée avec le « Baby Scrum », sous les yeux du sélectionneur de l’Equipe de France Philippe Saint André et les joueurs du RCT, Frédéric Michalak, Alexis Palisson et Maxime Mermoz.

Red Bull Racing, Lotus et Williams au cœur du paddock A starring role for Red Bull Racing, Lotus and Williams Trois équipes de Formule 1 seront présentes ce week-end. Lotus F1 Team fera rouler une R30 et la Lotus Renault 98T, ex Ayrton Senna. Romain Grosjean et Jérôme d’Ambrosio s’échangeront ces deux monoplaces. La RB6 sera pilotée par Jean-Eric Vergne - qui s'était imposé sur ce circuit la saison dernière en Formula Renault 3.5 Series - et par Alain Prost. Après avoir fait vibrer le Castellet à bord de la Renault RE40 l’année dernière, le quadruple champion du monde de F1 effectuera son retour à bord d’une F1 moderne. Enfin, la Williams Renault FW14 avec laquelle Nigel Mansell remportait le titre mondial en 1992 sera exposée.

Three Formula One teams will be joining us at Paul Ricard this coming weekend. Lotus Formula One Team will be there with Romain Grosjean and Jérôme d’Ambrosio swapping seats in an R30 and the Lotus Renault 98T, ex Ayrton Senna. Behind the wheel of the RB6 will be Jean-Eric Vergne, who won a race here in Formula Renault 3.5 Series last season, and Alain Prost, who thrilled race fans here last year with his display in the Renault RE40 and makes his return in a modern Formula One car. Also on show will be the Williams Renault FW14 that took Nigel Mansell to the 1992 world championship.

Le Rugby en fête sur les World Series by Renault Rugby joins the World Series by Renault party As partners of the French national rugby team, Renault will be organising some rugby-related fun and games in the Paul Ricard paddock.

Open to 11-year-olds and under on the Saturday and 13s and under on the Sunday, the Beach Rugby Youth Tournament will be the highlight of the Rugby Village. There are prizes galore to be won thanks to Play Rugby, while race-goers can get to grips with the art of the scrum thanks to the Baby Scrum, all under the watchful eyes of France coach Philippe Saint Andre and Frédéric Michalak, Alexis Palisson and Maxime Mermoz, players from Toulon.

Last season’s Eurocup Megane Trophy champion Stefano Comini has won the 2012 Clio Cup Italy 2012. A winner in Race 2 at Vallelunga at the weekend, the Swiss driver clinched the title one round early.

Steijn Schothorst, the son of Eurocup Megane Trophy driver Jeroen Schothorst, brother of Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0’s Pieter and cousin of Eurocup Megane Trophy leader Bas, won the second Formula Renault 2.0 NEC race of his career at Zandvoort on Saturday, while Great Britain’s Jake Dennis wrapped up the title.

LES SECRETS DE JULES BIANCHI JULES BIANCHI’S SECRETS FORMULA RENAULT 3.5 SERIES TECH 1 RACING Mon premier coup de volant C’était en 1992… j’avais trois ans et demi.

Mon père avait une piste de karting à la Siesta, à Antibes. J’ai donc commencé assez tôt.

Ma première course C’était en karting, à 10 ans. J’ai ensuite débuté la monoplace en 2007, en Formula Renault 2.0. J’ai gagné le titre de Champion de France cette année là.

Mon circuit préféré Monaco, Spa, Silverstone, ce sont trois circuits que j’aime beaucoup. Mais je dirais qu'il y a quelque chose de particulier sur chaque tracé.

Mon pilote préféré Michaël Schumacher. C’est le meilleur ! J’aime beaucoup Fernando Alonso également.

La personne décisive dans mon parcours Nicolas Todt, qui est mon manager depuis longtemps.

La première chose que je fais en rentrant d’une course En principe j’ai beaucoup de linge sale en rentrant d’une course… donc la première chose que je fais, ce sont des machines à laver !

My first drive It was in 1992. I was three and a half. My father had a karting track in La Siesta, Antibes, so I got started pretty young.

My first race In karting, when I was 10. I made my singleseater debut in a Formula Renault 2.0 in 2007. I won the French championship that year.

My favourite track Monaco, Spa and Silverstone are three tracks that I really like, though there’s something special about every track.

My favourite driver Michael Schumacher. He’s the best. I’m a fan of Fernando Alonso too.

The biggest influence in my career My long-time manager Nicolas Todt.

The first thing I do when I get home from a race I’ve usually got a lot of dirty washing when I get back from a race, so the first thing I do is put the washing machine on.
