The start of the academic year heralds the beginning of a new chapter and this is more apparent than ever at Ridgeway Preparatory outside Louis Trichardt. Their new principal has spent the first few days understanding the mannerisms and culture of the many families, whilst ensuring that their bright new Grade 1 learners are settling into the rhythm of formal schooling, far away from the playful sandpits of Grade R. Apart from learning how to develop critical thinking skills in line with 21st century education models, the school has introduced Kiddi Yoga as an extramural activity, which will provide many health and other related benefits to their children. “Of course, our parents are more than welcome to attend the sessions, should they choose to as well. Here at Ridgeway Preparatory we have a simple mantra: ‘Every Child, Every Day’ and we aim to cater for the varying needs of our community in line with our parents’ expectations in all aspects, including academics, sports, cultural and our digital platforms,” said the school’s new principal, Mr Melvin Govender.
