Two brothers arrested for murder
Pupil stabbed to death By Tshifhiwa Mukwevho
Lucky Sabasa was described by his mother as someone who “was always busy watering his lawn or else erecting some decorative structures at home”
A Grade 10 pupil at Maneledzi Secondary School, Lucky Matome Sabasa (20), was stabbed to death in the early hours of Saturday, at Madabani village in the Sinthumule area. At around 03:00, residents of the quiet village were awakened by the hysterical cries of people and police sirens coming from the side of the main road near the Mutshetshete Supermarket. “People came to tell me that my son had been killed near the Cell C stall,” said Lucky’s mother, Ms Josephine Sabasa. “When I got there, I found him lying dead in a pool of blood,” she sobbed. “There’s no mother who can see what I saw and still remain sane.” She added that her son was a person who was obsessed with cleanliness and liked socialising with people. “He wouldn’t trouble anybody. He was always busy watering his lawn or else erecting some decorative structures in the home, when he was not busy doing his school work,” she re-
membered. The spokesperson for the Tshilwavhusiku police, Const Munyadziwa Marindi, said that the deceased had two stab wounds, one to the chest and another to the upper part of his back. She stated that the community members had immediately provided the police at the crime scene with information that led to the arrest of two siblings, who were later identified as William Lithole (24) and Thabelo Lithole (21). “The two suspects appeared in the Tshilwavhusiku Magistrate’s Court and their case was postponed to 28 October for further investigations,” Marindi said. “Both suspects reside in Gogobole village.” The acting principal at Maneledzi Secondary School, Ms Mpho Milubi, comforted the deceased’s family during her visit on Tuesday. “Lucky was a good boy who had a burning desire and zeal to seek new information all the time,” Milubi said. Lucky will be laid to rest on Saturday at 06:00 at Madabani.
