The situation at the village came about after the discovery of a dead child at a nearby rivulet. Some of her body parts were allegedly missing.

1 March 2013 while playing with other children at a neighbour’s house. An intensive search involving the police, the local community and the dog unit of the SAPS yielded no results until Friday, when a passerby spotted the body in some bushes.

Since the discovery of the body, the villagers have gone on the rampage and barricaded roads.

The situation has been tense, with community members calling for the eviction of people they suspected to have taken part in the murder from the village. The little girl’s father, Mr Leonard Ramanyimi, said they became worried when she did not come back home on that particular day.

“This is pure ritual murder. The little girl did not have lips, eyes and some flesh was sliced from her hands. She did not have private parts and her intestines were missing,” he said.

“We are just putting everything in the hands of God and hope and pray that the police will do their job and apprehend the killers and make them answer for their ghastly deeds.”

The grisly find, after the intensive search by the community, sent shockwaves throughout Limpopo, more especially Vhembe, which is known for ritual murders. Vhembe experienced a spate of ritual murders in the year 2006, with Nyelisani Sidimela and Maanda Sendedza being one of the most prominent cases.

Sidimela had her lips sliced off by the knives of ritual murderers but was lucky to survive.

Her boyfriend, Maanda Sendedza, was killed by the same people who attempted to kill his girlfriend.

“We can now confirm that the nine-year-old girl who had been missing for almost a week was found murdered at a nearby rivulet,” said Thohoyandou police spokesperson Major Mashudu Malelo.

“We have opened a murder docket and our investigations are continuing.”

Malelo said they were awaiting the post mortem results which would shed light on what could have happened before the child died.

“We are appealing for calm; let all the people out there be patient and give the police a chance to investigate the case without hindrance. Let all those who have information make it available, so that we can use it in our investigations,” he said.

No one has been arrested so far.

Young Kabelo (15) drowns in stream Joy and laughter ended in heartbreak when Kabelo Nonyane (15), who was playing at a stream with friends at Madadzhi village in Muwaweni, drowned last Tuesday.

The boy and his friends went to swim in the stream as it was extremely hot. Kabelo, however, vanished into the water.

A friend then ran to the inform his parents and other community members. They called the police, but when they arrived at the scene, it was already dark and the boy was nowhere to be found.

Community members and the family slept at the stream until the police divers arrived the following day (Wednesday).

A 51-year-old Musina resident was arrested after he had allegedly raped his 12-year-old daughter at Matswale, on 2 March.

According to the spokesperson for the Musina police, Lt Peter Mudau, the victim’s mother had initially left for a piece job with the daughter in the morning, but later asked her to go to buy a bag of mealie meal and take it home. When the daughter got home, she found her father, who then allegedly raped her in his bedroom.

The mother came back and apparently caught the man red-handed while raping the girl. She then alerted the police about the incident.

The suspect had since appeared in court on Monday and the case was postponed.

When they arrived at the scene, they could do little more than to retrieve the body.

A cousin of young Kabelo, Mr Samuel Samphenyana, said they had a sleepless night, not knowing where the body of the boy could be found. “We needed the body, so that we could give him a decent burial,” he said.

Limpopo SAPS spokesperson Brig Hangwani Mulaudzi said that the police had opened an inquest docket.

He also appealed to parents to take care of their children and teach them to avoid playing in rivers and streams.

Kabelo, a Grade 8 pupil at Mainganye Secondary School, was buried at the Madadzhi cemetery on Saturday.

Four suspected copper thieves in court

Teachers of Sinugani High who obtained a 100% pass rate in the Grade 12 examinations last year received certificates and trophies for their achievement during the excellence awards.

Four Beit Bridge men appeared in court on Friday for allegedly vandalising the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) power line, before stealing 340kg of copper cables.

The cables are valued at R337 500, and the men allegedly intended to smuggle them into South Africa.

Lawrence Sibanda (28), Panganai Dube (28), Smart Dube (28) and Tendai Dube (27), all from the Dulibadzimu suburb in the border town, were not asked to plead to charges of contravening a section of the electricity act (vandalism, theft and disruption of power transmission) when they appeared before Magistrate Gloria Takundwa. Their bail application was opposed and they are still in custody. In denying them bail, the court noted that, given the gravity of the offence and likely sentence if they were convicted, there was no guarantee that the quartet would not abscond to

South Africa. The magistrate also said that, if given bail, there was a likelihood that the accused would interfere with the ongoing investigation.

The prosecutor, Mr Forster Abeki, said that on 23 February, the accused connived with John Moyo and another accomplice, only identified as Anderson, who are still at large. Soon after hatching a plan to steal copper cables belonging to Zesa, the accused drove to the Bubi area in a Nissan truck.

On arrival, Smart and Tendai alighted from the vehicle and pounced on the power line - the 11 kilovolt feeder - and cut four poles, resulting in a blackout in the area.

Local villagers became suspicious and reported the matter to ZESA officials, who in turn teamed up with the police and immediately attended the scene. They found the four accused persons at the scene, leading to their arrest. Further investigation led to the recovery of 340kg of copper wire that had been pulled off the power line and rolled into bundles. A bolt cutter and a saw, which were used in cutting the cables and poles, were also found at the scene.

The case was postponed to 19 March.

New school health programme In an attempt to minimize sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV/Aids among school children, the Department of Health and Social Development launched the Integrated School Health Programme during a ceremony held at the Tshiungulela High School in Kutama village last Friday.

The mayor of the Makhado Municipality, Cllr David Mutavhatsindi, said the aim of the programme was to prevent unnecessary illness and to promote good health among the learners. “Statistics show that Limpopo remains the seventh on the list in terms of HIV and AIDS prevalence, with 21,9%.”

According to Mutavhatsindi, STIs are accompanied by teenage pregnancies and HIV/Aids, and those who abuse drugs and alcohol are the most vulnerable.

Twenty-five professional nurses have been trained in the Vhembe District for the programme as a pilot project, and other districts will do the same in the next financial year. Khosi Vho-Prince Kutama applauded the initiative by the government to teach learners about the danger of HIV/Aids and STIs. Slow start in rhino case The trial of the five men accused of illegally hunting rhinos in the Alldays area is yet to begin.

The five, January Machava (37), Juda Nyembe (38), Matthew Pedro Ngwenya (42), Thomas Sibanda (33) and Humbulani Reason Matutu (29), appeared in the Louis Trichardt Regional Court on Tuesday.

They are charged with three counts of the hunting of specially protected wild animals and two counts of picking up or removing dead wild animals.

The charges were brought against them when they allegedly killed two rhinos and attempted to kill a third and hack off its horns. The case against

Matutu was withdrawn by the State earlier this year when he decided to become a state witness. After his decision, the trail was set to start in February, but had to be postponed because Machava failed to appear in court.

Machava did appear in court on Tuesday with his co-accused. Their case, however, was postponed once more because their legal counsel was not fully prepared.

Machava, Nyembe and Ngwenya are out on bail, while Sibanda remains in custody.

Their case was postponed until 8 April.

The Tshakhuma-born singer and Tshivenda music awards nominee said women seemed to be silent about the high rate of rapes and killings taking place in the country and therefore he decided to talk on their behalf. “The rate of murders of women in South Africa is equally troubling and something is going terribly wrong,” Tshidino said.

The fact that South Africa is often rated as the rape capital of the world, indicates that men do not respect young girls and women, he added.

“My blood boils every time I think of men raping and dumping little girls. A woman is killed by an intimate partner every minute. Many are raped in their homes by a relative or family friend; many are raped at school, often by teachers; many are raped by trusted pastors in the church or by someone they do not know,” Tshidino added.

Beit Bridge schools damaged by storms Pupils and teachers at Malikuwa Secondary and Whunga Primary schools outside Beit Bridge were left scurrying for cover after the roofs of their classroom blocks were blown off by strong winds that recently swept across the entire village.

The local ward councillor, Mrs Gladys Tlou, said the incident occurred last Friday at around 17:00 at Whunga village and surrounding areas. “This is really shocking and we are now appealing to NGOs, businesspeople and the government to chip in with the required assistance to rebuild the two schools, whose roofs were completely blown off and reduced to pieces,” she said.

The downpour, which was preceded by strong winds and a hailstorm, also left some villagers homeless after their huts were damaged extensively.

When Limpopo Mirror visited the area, scattered fragments of roof sheeting could be seen strewn all over the school yard of Malikuwa Secondary, which has been affected worst in the village.

the principal of Malikuwa Secondary School, said three computers and two printers were damaged after they were submerged in water. “I was at the teachers’ cottage when the storm started and I rushed to the administration block. It was already raining heavily and teachers and pupils were fleeing in different directions as the roof sheets were being blown off,” she said.

Sebata-Tlou said two classroom blocks, a computer laboratory and the administration block were the most affected buildings. “Right now, pupils are attending lessons as combined classes crammed in the two remaining classrooms that were not affected. This is not a conducive environment for learning, especially with the prevailing high temperatures,” she said. The rain had also soaked several textbooks.

A local villager, Aleck Nguluvhe, said the roof of his eightroomed house had been blown off and the window panes shattered after they had been struck by lightning.

Dube, said: “We only have one classroom block which was affected and 48 window panes were damaged by the strong winds. Most of the textbooks, which were donated by UNICEF, were also soaked and we are appealing for assistance.”

The chairperson of the local civil protection committee, Mr Simon Muleya, said his team and various stakeholders had since visited the area to assess the situation. He said they were in the process of mobilising resources with the assistance of partners to repair the damage.

Last year, nurses and patients at the Tshikwalakwala clinic outside Beit Bridge were also left scurrying for cover when the roof sheets of the health centre were blown off by strong winds that had swept across the entire area. Scores of homes were also destroyed by the uncharacteristically heavy rains that recently pounded parts of the district.

Meanwhile, a German-based NGO handed over part of the two-roomed houses that it had pledged to construct for flood victims in Tshikwalakwala.

Masia a good model of rural success The multi-million-rand project between the Department of Rural Development and Masia Community is a good model of a very successful rural story that needs to be copied by other communities.

This was said by Executive Mayor Tshitereke Matibe during his visit to the Masia Traditional Council last week. Matibe’s visit was part of his mission to visit all senior traditional leaders in Vhembe to investigate the challenges facing the communities.

During his visit, Matibe also expressed his appreciation for the good working relationship between the traditional council of Ha-Masia under the leadership of Thovhele Vho-Mmbangiseni Masia and his communities, that led to the construction of a library, a hall, theatre, computer

centre, cultural village and sporting facilities.

Since the project started, more than 1 000 people have been employed and more will benefit when the project is complete.

Matibe said he was grateful to see a traditional leader who was more than willing to see the development of his community like what was happening at Ha-Masia.

“I hope other traditional leaders will learn from this project. This development will create jobs, reduce poverty and crime. I am proud of you, Thovhele Masia, and your people. Keep it up,” said Matibe.

Masia said he was happy to hear that they were on the right track. He said the project started after he approached the Minister during the celebration of Masia Day some years back.

Matibe was also confronted with other challenges facing the community, such as a lack of clinics, the high crime rate, poor road conditions, the shortage of schools, a lack of shelter for pensioners and the water shortage. The community members said that they did not have their own satellite police station because of the demarcation which was created by the apartheid government.

Matibe said the issue of damaged roads would be addressed by the national government. He said boreholes would be provided as a temporary solution to the water challenge facing the community but the Nandoni Dam would provide a long-term solution. He said there must be an awareness campaign against the high crime rate in the area.

Unhappy sex workers hand memo to police The sex workers who ply their trade at an infamous spot known as Dzithangani handed a memorandum of grievances to the Makhado police station on Friday afternoon.

When Limpopo Mirror’s reporter tried to speak with the concerned sex workers on Monday and Tuesday to find out exactly what was in the memorandum, some of them did not want to disclose the contents of the document.

Some, however, agreed to speak with the newspaper, on condition of anonymity.

“Don’t try to turn our revolution into a joke,” one sex worker said at Dzithangani on Monday.

“Go away! Go and write what-

ever you want.”

Another group of sex workers, however, indicated that they had decided to hand in a memorandum after excessive abuse from the side of the police, “who always come to harass us when we are busy doing our business at Dzithangani. They just arrest us and give us a R1 500 fine,” they said. “That’s not the kind of treatment we want. If they feel that selling sex is a crime, they must charge us for selling sex. We want freedom to sell sex without any disturbance from anybody, including the police.”

The spokesperson for the Makhado police, Capt Maano Sadiki, confirmed that they had received a memorandum and that

it would soon be forwarded to the office of the provincial commissioner for consideration. “They are expressing their unhappiness on certain issues and we will respond appropriately by next week, when our seniors have finished considering the case,” Sadiki. He did not elaborate on what the “certain issues” were at that stage.

In one of our previous reports on Dzithangani, the women who agreed to speak to us were adamant that the “no-prostitution” operation by the SAPS would never stop them from conducting business in town (Limpopo Mirror, 24 August 2012). “You can’t sell sex in the village,” they said.

“Report all corruption” - mayor Matibe Community members must report all corruption-related activities happening in Vhembe, said the executive mayor, Cllr Tshitereke Matibe, during his recent address to the community at Thengwe Tribal Council.

Matibe was reacting to the allegations made by a community member that there was nepotism at play in the allocation of jobs in Mutale.

Another community member also added that some councillors went as far as telling them that “you can go wherever you want, we will see if you will get water.”

This, the person stated, happened after they tried to engage a councillor, so that they could get water in their area.

Some also said they had never seen their councillors since the last local government elections.

Matibe said it was totally wrong for a councillor or any government official to use corruption or nepotism in the allocation of jobs. He said job opportunities were made available for all citizens of Vhembe.

“As a local or district municipality, we do not discriminate against people when allocating jobs.

If there is anyone who is practicing nepotism in the allocation of jobs, report such a person to our antifraud and corruption hotline number 080 066 8538 or fax number 080 020 0796,” said Matibe.

Matibe said all corrupt people were criminals, irrespective of who they were. “Whether it is me or any other senior official in this district, these people must be reported and go to jail if found guilty. Do not be afraid to use these numbers to report corruption as you do not need to identify yourself,” said Matibe.

Seating two in tandem and under cover, i-ROAD is an electric vehicle with a range of up to 50km on a single charge. Using ‘Active Lean’ technology, it is safe, intuitive and enjoyable to drive, with no need for driver or passenger to wear a helmet.

It’s the latest concept to emerge from Toyota’s 40 years of research and development into vehicles that use less energy, place less of a burden on the environment and are practical in meeting people’s everyday transport needs. i-ROAD takes the company closer to its goal of creating the ultimate range of eco cars.

Toyota is paving the way for several types of eco car to coexist in the future, by adapting its Hybrid Synergy Drive technology for use in plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), electric vehicles (EVs) and fuel cell vehicles (FCVs). While hybrids, plug-in hybrids and FCVs are ideal for mainstream use over medium to long distances, Toyota believes in the feasibility of EVs to serve

as a main mode of transport for short urban journeys, and has 10 years’ experience in the research and development of PMVs. Drunk driving shows lack of respect - DJ S’bu More pedestrians are killed South Africa’s leading total beverage company, brandhouse, launched a hard-hitting social media activism campaign last week, a first for the industry, designed to change behaviour amongst the South African youth with regard to drinking and driving.

The social-media campaign is the 2013 edition of brandhouse’s awardwinning media initiative against drinking and driving, Drive Dry. The campaign is expected to gain momentum in social media circles well ahead of the Easter weekend – a high-risk period for road accidents.

At the heart of this year’s campaign is a somewhat shocking Facebook application, called The Drive. The Drive brings to life the harsh realities of drunk driving in an impactful way, and encourages South Africans to make a public commitment never to drink and drive.

It also encourages young people to select a designated driver before going out to socialise and make such a decision an active part of

their social culture.

The first person to make the public Drive Dry pledge was South African kwaito artist and entertainment personality DJ S’bu (Sibusiso Leope). “No doubt, partying is part of youth culture.

However, despite being illegal, and having potentially dire consequences, drunk driving also demonstrates a complete lack of respect for fellow citizens,” said DJ S’bu. “brandhouse remains committed to addressing the role that alcohol plays when it comes to drinking and driving. We acknowledge the need for intervention programmes and initiatives to address the issue. Drive Dry is one of the initiatives we have in place to promote the responsible use of alcohol,” says Michael Mabasa, corporate relations director for brandhouse.

Though aimed at the youth, the 2013 Drive Dry campaign calls on all South Africans to make a public pledge to drink responsibly, and on Facebook, make the public pledge to “drink and not drive” or “drive and not

drink”.

Similar to past Drive Dry campaigns such as “ Pappa wag vir jou” that made use of strong emotional imagery to raise awareness of drunk driving in an impactful way, the 2013 campaign makes use of shock tactics - The Drive is designed to take consumers through a fictional social scenario with a shocking and unexpected outcome.

“We want people to experience The Drive for themselves, which contextualises drinking responsibly and aims to change the perception of ‘it won’t happen

to me’ to ‘it can happen to me’,” says Mabasa.

Although Drive Dry speaks to all South Africans who have access to a car and who drink alcohol socially, it targets mainly 18- to 25-year-olds who tend to be more casual about drinking and driving.

The number of incidents that paramedics are called out to involving pedestrians that are knocked down by vehicles seems to be on the increase.

According to ER24, in 2013 alone there have been 728 incidents, many of them fatal, whereas in 2012, in the same time frame, 598 such incidents were reported.

From 1 March until the morning of 11 March, 146 incidents were attended to. That amounts to 14 pedestrians knocked down per day in March alone.

No trend in terms of area or specific roads is apparent for where these incidents are taking place. “It is just utterly clear that more people are forced to walk to and from their destinations and the roads are becoming an increasingly dangerous place to spend your time,” says ER24 in a press release. According to them, education needs to start at a young age, and should a parent or guardian not be in the position to teach a child about the rules of the road, a teacher should take on the responsibility.

There are a number of points that can be discussed when it comes to how pedestrians can protect themselves while walking along the road, but in order to make it as easy as possible to remember, three important points

can be highlighted: * Do not take a chance - be safe and wait; * Walk a safe distance from the tar; and * Use pedestrian crossings and overhead walkways.

“In many of our articles, we have gathered information about how the pedestrian accident had occurred, and all too frequently there is a witness that states that the pedestrian ‘ran across the road’ when they were knocked down,” states ER24.

Technology for tomorrow’s vehicles

Goodyear partners with StreetScooter to design and build tomorrow’s ideal car Goodyear announced last week that it is co-operating with StreetScooter at the Geneva Motor Show 2013.

StreetScooter is a universitydriven, multi-partnership venture to develop a next-generation electric vehicle for Europe and beyond. Named after the popular “autoscooter” that children and adults enjoy at fairs all around the world, the StreetScooter is a new way of approaching tomorrow’s car.

The car is designed to operate in tomorrow’s inner cities, delivering a compact, yet roomy car that runs on electricity, delivers almost no pollutants to its environment and runs quietly.

The project is being followed by Goodyear as it is fully aligned with its vision of developing a sustainable future for mobility.

Streetscooter is not the product of a single firm, but the result of a major venture partnership between around 20 companies: auto parts suppliers, technology companies, software developers, university researchers, and so forth. The project is a major collaboration between small or medium companies that not only have a hand in building the car,

but also in creating it. Each partner can provide its own advanced technologies to help deliver an inner-city car. The result is a modular vehicle, with parts that can be added, removed and reused, depending on customer preference.

The modular approach gives the car an additional edge as it can be built quickly and inexpensively.

“The StreetScooter fills the gap that lies today between two-wheel and existing cars and serves the needs of daily urban mobility from 45 up to 130 km and 15 000 km per year at a top speed of 105 km/h, with an optimal price-performance ratio,” says Professor Achim Kampker, CEO at StreetScooter GmbH. It can seat 2 or 3 plus 1 passenger and offers up to 850 litres of volume in the trunk.”

The StreetScooter was born in Aachen, Germany, but it soon became international with the involvement of specialists from different companies. “Each company involved in the project brings its expertise and manufacturing capabilities,” said Kampker. “Obviously, where Goodyear is concerned, the challenge was

to develop a tyre that manages specific needs of electric vehicles which often provide a relatively constant torque, even at very low speeds, which increases the acceleration performance of an electric vehicle in comparison to a vehicle with a similar internal combustion engine.”

2-1 Victory for Basel FC Basel FC beat Rospa United 2-1 in a Safa second division league match at the Makwarela Stadium on Saturday.

Rockers approached the game aggressively, with their strikers looking hungry for goals. It was in the fourth minute that they scored their opening goal. Emmanuel Neswiswi finished off a rebound, following an attempt by Patrick Muthivhi.

The goal was a wakeup call to Disco Five. They retaliated nine minutes afterwards. They were awarded a corner kick, which gave rise to a beautiful goal by Phathutshedzo Mafhali. The score was still 1-1 at the end of the first half.

Things turned against Rockers shortly after the start of the second half. The team’s head coach, Mr Eric Siobo, was given his marching orders for swearing at the match officials.

Rockers continued to fight like a united team, despite the setback. They were duly rewarded a few moments later. Their slender striker, Emmanuel Neswiswi, forced his way through the defence of Disco Five and unleashed a powerful ground cutter.

Disco Five were reduced to 10 players when David Nekhavhambe was given his marching orders for a second bookable infringement.

Gogobole Home Defenders will not participate in the next stage of the prestigious Mageu knockout.

This follows their 2-0 defeat at the hands of Benny's Care at the Gogobole grounds on Sunday. The match was characterized by fruitless attempts.

Defenders squandered three obvious chances within the first 17 minutes. In the first instance, Thabelo Tharini caused an upset when he dribbled past everyone and shot wide from the goal line.

A group of students from the 2012 Letsema Learnership Programme graduated at the Fusion Boutique Hotel in Polokwane last Thursday (7 March).

The group forms part of the 900 nationwide unemployed youth with matric, in possession of a Financial Services Advice Learnership with NQF Level 5. The graduates were offered an opportunity to enter the financial service sector, by linking the theoretical component, through the Milpark Business School, to workplace experience in the form of an industry learnership.

According to a statement by the marketing and communication division of the Bankseta, the Bankseta-sponsored intervention programme, Letsema Learnership, consists of six structured modules. For each module, learners are expected to complete an assignment and an examination based on the academic content of the module successfully.

The course entails modules such as banking advice, business management, financial legislation, financial planning, economic fundamentals in investment and fundamental principles of basic accounting.

The programme is recognised by the Financial Services Board (FSB) as a Financial and Intermediary Services Act (FAIS) accredited qualification.

“I’m humbled today, to see a group of dedicated and committed youths coming from disadvantaged backgrounds, equipped with the right tools for a fruitful future and for those of their families,” says Max Makhubalo, CEO of the Bankseta.

The previously disadvantaged and unemployed candidates are equipped with specific core banking and microfinance skills required in the work environment, so that they are competitive and employable to entry-level positions within the

Humiliating goalless draw for Western Stars

Madombidzha Wetsern Stars were held to a goalless draw by the up-and-coming Zamenkomste FC in a Safa Vhembe SAB league match at Madombidzha on Saturday.

Stars was the superior side from the onset as far as possession of the ball was concerned .This resulted in their putting a lot of pressure on the defence of Zamenkomste for the better part of the match.The first half was characterised by dangerous play from the home team's players. In an attempt to calm the situation, the referee flashed several yellow cards in quick succession. Musandiwa Makhudzha and Victor Mulaudzi of Zamenkomste were booked for applying dirty tricks and dangerous play.

In the second half, the local lads put more pressure on their opponents.The absence of many players in the Stars defence was felt from the onset. Oscar Ramantswana of Stars could not make the grade as the opponents used him as their freeway.

Stars' strikers wasted many opportunities to win the match.The home team's central back, Thabo Mamburu, and Hulisani Mavhungu were reprimanded with cards for rough tackling and wasting time respectively.

Stars introduced Paris Mushulowa for Thabo Matuba, but this did not have any influence on the outcome of the match. The draw was a fair result for the evenly contested match.

Dynamos give away three more vital points Things are quickly going from bad to worse in the Dynamos camp.

They continued to drop more significant league points last weekend.

After winning their last three matches in a row, Polokwane City came back with empty hands from their away match against Vasco da Gama. They lost 1-4 at the Parow Park Stadium, much to the disappointment of the hundreds of fans who accompanied the team to the mother city.

FC Cape Town have reason to celebrate after beating FCAK 3-0 at the NNK Rugby Stadium in Cape Town.

The three goals for FC Cape Town were scored in the last 15 minutes of the game. Jomo Cosmos failed to stop Witbank Spurs from collecting league points at their expense. They were beaten 1-2 at the Puma Rugby Stadium in Witbank. Thanda Royal Zulu continued to pave their way up by beating Blackburn Rovers 4-1 at the Richards Bay Stadium.

Milano United and United FC played to a goalless draw at the Moruleng Stadium in the Free State.

One point for Nobela’s Stars Last weekend saw Nobela All Stars grab a vital league point in their Safa second-division match against Lephalale Young Killers. They played to a 1-1 draw at the Malamulele Stadium on Saturday.

Nobela All Stars did not move even an inch on the log, despite depositing a point into their league account. They are lying in the second last position, with 13 points accumulated from 18 outings.

Winners Park were unstoppable when they beat Blue Rocks 2-1 in Mokopane. Winners Park are leading the pack with 43 points, following

their victory.

The other close league title contenders, Baroka FC, were unexpectedly held to a 1-1 draw by Modimolle Aces. The match was played at the Ephraim Mohale Stadium in Modimolle. Baroka are now lying in the second spot, with 41 points, two behind the logleaders, Winners Park.

In their Mopani derby at the Nkowankowa Stadium, Baobab Zero Fake shared the spoils with Giyani Hotspurs. They played to a goalless draw.

The Dolphins beat Mosesetjane All Stars 2-0, while Rospa United lost 1-2 to Basel FC.

Hotspurs to pay for United’s defeat?

Giyani Hotspurs will be lucky if they manage to hold Rospa United to a draw when they meet in their Safa 2nd division match at the Univen Stadium tomorrow afternoon.

Rospa United are still fresh from a 1-2 defeat at the hands of Basel FC at the Makwarela Stadium last Saturday.

The good news about Rospa United is that their playmaker, Marks Munyai, will be available for selection. He was out of action last weekend, due to a groin injury.

In another match in the same

division tomorrow afternoon, Basel will battle it out for league points against the pace setters, Baroka, at the Ngoana Mahube Stadium at Jane Furse.

Basel are one of the close league-title contenders and they are six points behind Baroka. A win for Baroka will take Basel out of the race, leaving Winners Park and Baroka as the only contenders.

Nobela All Stars will play against Magezi FC at the Seshego Stadium.
