His meeting also followed protest action, which included a sit-in at the gate leading to the dam. Mahlobo then promised to set up a help desk, comprising team members from his department, which would be able to visit the affected communities and revise the plan of action to speed up the process.

“We don’t want the affected communities to lose their money, and we urge for smooth and good cooperation between our officials and the affected communities,” said Mahlobo during the visit in March.

By Bernard Chiguvare “It has always been my dream to wear a pink, beautiful-looking dress,” said Dani Ramalepe, a matric learner from Louis Trichardt. Her dream came true last weekend when she proudly wore her dream dress during a matric farewell function held at Stanford Lake College.

The 18-year-old Ramalepe lives in Louis Trichardt but goes to school at Stanford Lake College near Haenertsburg. She explains that she has been searching for

the right design and colour of her dress for some time. She found a Namibian-based designer, Ruberto Scott, on Instagram and told him about her dreams. Scott took her measurements and then came up with the gorgeous design.

The dress was made in her favourite pink fabric and even included diamond inserts. It was a perfect match and fits her well.

Ramalepe was accompanied by her long-time friend, Hosea Muleya, to the matric dance. They have been friends for many years and attended primary school at Ridgeway Independent.

Two people were killed and several passengers were injured in a head-on collision between a taxi and a sedan on the R524 between Louis Trichardt and Levubu on Tuesday afternoon. The road was closed for almost an hour while emergency personnel, traffic officers, and police worked to clear the scene.

The driver of the taxi and one passenger died on the scene. They were trapped under the taxi.

The injured passengers were taken to the Louis Trichardt Memorial Hospital for treatment.

According the police spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo, the taxi was underway from Louis Trichardt when the accident occurred.

Along the way, the taxi collided head-on with a sedan. The cause of the collision is being investigated, but unsafe overtaking is suspected. He confirmed that they have opened a culpable-homicide docket.

An eyewitness, Mr Jumara Muderi, said he heard a loud banging sound before the accident happened. “I was standing next to the road when I suddenly heard that sound. I realised that the sedan could overturn, as it was travelling at high speed,” he said.

Makhado Mayor Samuel Munyai expressed his condolences to the families. He said that the government was worried about the increasing number of accidents. “This is a serious concern as more innocent lives are lost on our roads,” he said.

The MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya, expressed shock over the accident. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased during this time of grief, and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured ones. The department shares their heartache and is saddened that so many lives continue to be lost on South African roads, which not only impacts negatively on their families but on the province and the country in general,’’ said Ramakhanya.

Communities threaten with protest action

By Anton van Zyl The Zoutpansberg Community Development Forum (ZCDF), representing residents from areas such as Sinthumule, Kutama, and Tshikota, has resolved to embark on protest action to force the various spheres of government to address service-delivery issues.

The ZCDF had a meeting on Sunday (11th) during which feedback was given on the efforts to engage officials of municipalities and the government. The secretary of the ZCDF, Mr Mbulaheni Malotsha, said that meetings had been held with officials from Vhembe District Municipality regarding the acute short-

age of water services in the area.

“These townships have gone for seven years without water. Promises were made by the officials but are not honoured. Now we have no hope that things will change for the better,” he said. The ZCDF believes that the VDM has no respect for its constitutional obligations.

“The sad reality is that these officials do not have a clue of what should be done to ensure the regular provision of water.

The poor are the hardest hit as they must buy water from neighbours,” said Malotsha.

The ZCDF also pointed out that the district’s roads are “death traps”. The road between Louis Trichardt and Madombidzha is described as “disastrous” and the road between Madabani and

Kutama “is a calamity”.

“Life is hell for taxi drivers and commuters who use this road to and from work. All these roads need total rehabilitation. Public Works’ departments provincially and nationally have been made aware of this nightmare, but continue to ignore our plea,” said Malotsha.

“We are giving government 14 days to rectify these anomalies, failure which we exercise our right to protest. During this 14-day period we call upon councillors, constituency representatives from both the provincial legislature and national parliament to descend on the Soutpansberg to address our communities on remedies to alter the situation,” demands the ZCDF.

Thavhani exhibition heralds new era of optimism for local artists

By Tshifhiwa Mukwevho The opening of the art exhibition at the Thavhani Mall heralds an era of renewed hope for Vhembe artists as their work is being displayed for the purpose of having people buy it to enjoy the artistic value.

The exhibition is hosted by Art Margins NPC, an organisation whose main purpose is to assist artists. The organisation’s Takalani Ligege thanked the management of Thavhani Mall for hosting such an exhibition. “We can now continue to create a space for art appreciation and audience building,” he said. “We invite people to come and view the artwork; entrance is free.”

One of the artists whose works are on display, Mudinda Innocent Maumela, was enthusiastic about the opportunities on offer. He discovered art in 2018 and still considers himself as an artist in the making, but his works speak volumes as they are those of a mature artist who understands the aesthetic value. “I am really happy that there are people who are lending us real support, and it all makes us pull up our socks and never give up,” he said.

Pfano Bebeda, a resident of Tshandama village, discovered art at an early age. He started out by drawing some cartoons and carving wooden spoons, which had those seeing them gape in utter amazement. “Today I specialise in wood carvings where I produce sculptures, wooden watches and furniture,” he said. “I hope to benefit from recognition and appreciation from this art exhibition. It is my belief that our work on display will inspire young people who want to follow their passion in art.”

Another artist, Nkhangwe Mulangaphuma, discovered her passion for art when she was just a pupil at a primary school. “Fortunately, my mom saw the passion I had for art, and she encouraged and supported me to never give up on what I enjoyed doing,” she said. “She also took me to Saturday art classes, until I decided to further my studies in Fine Arts. To me, art is another form of therapy; one can make an art piece that speaks to the soul.”

During the launch, Chief Livhuwani Matsila said the art gallery was a masterpiece, celebrating the creative minds in the Vhembe region.

“I wish to congratulate Thovhele Vho-Jeffery Ramovha and his team at Thavhani Mall for this selfless initiative that seeks to empower local artists who will now benefit from selling their products to various customers who flock to the

mall,” he said. “The quality of the products is very impressive, classy and worthy of international consumption. As the Matsila Community Development Trust, we wish to pledge our support to the artists to ensure sustainable production and marketing of their crafts for job creation.”

The legendary multitalented artist and art teacher, Avhashoni Mainganye, said that the art exhibition was more educational because the gallery had been brought to

the people. “People come and ask questions and we are ready to answer them,” he said. “We priced our art pieces at an international rate because our art is at international level.”

Art Margins NPC ‘s directors, Mr Takalani Ligege, Dr Thulani Zulu and Ms Vhudzani Mavhina, have vast experience in creating, managing, and coordinating art projects.

The exhibition is open Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00 and on Saturdays from 09:00 to 17:00.

Lutendo makes money by washing shoes

By Tshifhiwa Mukwevho As a young man, Lutendo Titus Tshikovhi always wanted to start a business of his own, but he had no idea what kind of business he could venture into.

However, a time came when he went to a local car wash, and while he was still waiting for his car to get washed, an argument ensued between the car-washers and a client, who expressed dissatisfaction about bad service.

“The client had brought his car and tekkies to be washed, but the car-washers had damaged

his tekkies because they were inexperienced in washing such shoes (something that had come as an added service because the client had wanted it to be done),” Lutendo said. “To me, that argument brought an idea that I must start a tekkie kitchen business, where I would specialise in washing tekkies.”

Lutendo started carrying out extensive research on which products to use and which ones to avoid if he wanted to do things properly.

“I asked for a start-up loan from my parents,” he said. His parents gladly offered him some cash and he started operating his business right at his

“I named my business Spick and Span, which I later changed to Sneaker Kitchen,” he said. “Admittedly, I made a lot of mistakes when I started out, but then I realised those mistakes were part of the growing factor in business. I soon realised that the cost was high to run a business from home; I needed a central place.”

He had to scout for an office to rent in town and, after many disappointments, he managed to get a space at the Thohoyandou Thulamela Information Centre, where his Sneaker Kitchen still operates from even today. “Most of my customers became my advisors. They suggested more services and provided guidance on how my store could look like and how l could improve,” he said.

Initially, his biggest challenge was the lack of marketing skills, most particularly for his kind of business, which was unique in Vhembe District.

“I required flyers and banners and, as my budget didn’t allow for that, l started doing word-ofmouth advertising,” he said. “l would approach anyone whom I noticed wearing dirty tekkies, and from that point onwards l started having support and referrals.”

One of the clients, Phuluso Khakhu, lauded Lutendo for the exceptional services. “When l brought my tekkies for the first time, I was sceptical about the service, but then that mentality was proven wrong. Today I am an ardent customer,” Khakhu said. “Ever since I started bringing my tekkies to Sneaker Kitchen, I felt as if I won’t be able to wash them the same again.”

The event centred on how the different service providers and stakeholders can work together to create a better South Africa, starting from Vhembe District and its communities. Engagements involved a discussion on services offered by different organisations and how they could partner and work together to achieve their business goals.

“Business compliance was thoroughly discussed, together with how businesses can implement different systems and controls to ensure that their management and administrative functions run smoothly,” said Mulalo Nemataheni, a certified financial planner and CEO of ImPowerX Advisory Services.

DC Academy’s Ms Azwidalingani Matodzi pointed out that it was the first time in many years in business that she had attended a networking event of this kind, where she got to sit around a table with different stakeholders and engage on a common theme of how they could best serve the communities.

“Invited stakeholders included Mr Marcus Mukumela from SEDA, Mr Mpho Motsei (Limpopo Provincial Chairperson of Black Management Forum), Mr Sikheto Mlambo and Mr Ndivhuwo Mbulaheni from the National Youth Development Agency,” she said.

The two event sponsors, Agricre and ImPowerX Advisory Services, are both consulting and

training companies in the agricultural sector and finance.

As part of the event, Dr Thiofhi Muthikhitha took all the invited guests on a tour where they got to see tunnels of quality round tomatoes and green peppers planted in his yard. The main purpose of the tour was to showcase how one could utilise the small scale of land they had available and produce quality products.

At the end of the day, all attendees agreed that a need exists to have more events of this nature as they empower all those who attend.

The Tshikota community has been receiving an irregular water supply for a long time and at times the area goes without water for weeks, resulting in service-delivery protests.

“As part of the launch we did in March this year, today we are going to give away 100 water wheelers,” said Ntsako Baloyi, CCBSA’s project manager. He explained that the water wheelers can also be used to store 100 litres of water and come complete with a tap. “This is a way of encouraging the community to fetch water from the boreholes,” he said. Two life sentences for murderer

By Kaizer Nengovhela The Thohoyandou High Court sentenced Takalani Collet Nengovhela (28) to two terms of life imprisonment on two charges of murder last Thursday.

Nengovhela stabbed Mpho Brand and his girlfriend Daisy Mushwana at Mpheni in February 2018, using a sharp object.

The spokesperson for the police in Limpopo, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo, welcomed the sentence and described it as a

victory for police fighting the killing of innocent people. He commended members of the public for the big role they were playing in fighting crime. “It is only through a united front that we can fight criminals and put them in jail where they belong.

They do not respect other community members and, through a joint effort by the police, members of the public and the justice system, we can help stop them from continuing with their evil ways,” Mojapelo said.

The director of Munna ndi nnyi (Who is the real man), Mr Bardwell Mufunwaini, said

that the organisation had been following this case diligently.

“Killing a human being is not allowed,” said Mufunwaini.

“There was a time when the courts released criminals who committed heinous crimes, and we felt the justice system was betraying members of the community who came forward with information that assisted the police to arrest those criminals. Now we are happy that justice is doing the right thing.

We will continue to encourage people to inform the police of all criminal incidents, because the law is doing its duty.”

One of Musina’s big trees falls away after 90 years Musina News A big tree has fallen. This expression aptly describes the passing of Musina struggle icon Ms Selina Phiri, who passed away last Sunday at the ripe age of 90.

The history of Musina would be incomplete without the name of Selina Phiri being mentioned. A pioneer of the struggle for freedom, she was there for her community during the tough times of the apartheid government, clashing with the authorities for her people to be free.

During the time of the struggle, she worked with deceased heavyweights such as Christina Chisanga, Obed Mashaba, David Phologa, and Jack Mokobi, to name but a few. Phiri was buried on Saturday, 10 October, at Musina.

Her home in Musina Skoonplaas was a hive of activities for many years because she interacted with so many people during her lifetime. She was a community builder who participated in many community initiatives to improve the lives of the local people. Among her other roles, she

was a member of the ANC Women’s League for many years and branch executive committee member of the ANC Sebata Branch. She was the founder member of the local Kutlwano Laundry Services, a community-based project aimed at fighting hunger and unemployment among the women of Musina. She also played a major role in the formation of two local projects, Lerato Beads and Lerato Crèche. She also served as a ward committee member for Musina Municipality on several occasions and became part of the Musina Gogo Getters group, which aims to keep elders healthy and strong.

Musina Mayor Mihloti Muhlope said the people of Musina had lost a pillar of strength and a person who had always been there to give advice to the young blood. “We send sincere condolences to the family during this time of loss. It was not only a loss to the family, but to the whole community of Musina. We are enjoying the fruits of freedom today because of freedom fighters like her. She might be gone, but her good deeds will live with us forever.”

Representing the family, Shoni Tlou said they were grateful for the support from the community from the day Phiri had passed on. “The support and family visits have been overwhelming.

This clearly demonstrates that our loved one was a people’s person. Although we are grieving, we console ourselves by the fact that the deceased has contributed immensely to bringing a better life for the people of Musina.”

Seven suspects appeared in the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court again on Thursday, 1 October, on charges relating to alleged armed robberies in the Thohoyandou, Itsani, Lwamondo and Tshisaulu

areas.

The seven appeared on eight counts of robbery with aggravated circumstances, two counts of possession of unlawful firearms and attempted murder.

The suspects allegedly preyed on supermarkets belonging to Soma-

lian and Indian traders.

The case was postponed to 11 November when bail applications will be heard.

The regional spokesperson for the Director of Public Prosecution, Ms Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, confirmed that the accused are in

Manngo, who holds an Abet and childhood-development qualification, acknowledges that being in the male-dominated reggae music fraternity comes with its own challenges. “There are people who still believe that women are the weaker sex and less gifted individuals.

During the day, Landani Masingi cares for the health of patients at Elim Hospital, but when she is not working, she caters for the souls of people with her beautiful gospel songs.

Masingi, who hails from Malamulele, is also known as the “golden voice lady”. She has four successful albums to her name, with the latest, entitled Dnzi ta khomelela ka Yesu, released in April this year.

That the people who contributed to her music career did not live long enough to celebrate her success is most unfortunate. These include her late father, Simon, her late mother Nelly and her late brother Vusi. “All my albums are a tribute to my late father, mother and brother because they planted a fruitful seed of gospel music in my life.

In fact, I grew up in church where my father was a pastor.

He taught us to pray and sing gospel music to praise the Lord. My mother encouraged us to love God wholeheartedly, while my late brother was a gifted keyboard player who played for all family members to sing. I have no doubt that their souls will continue to rest in peace wherever they are because I’m still representing their will here on earth.”

Her first album, Matimba, was released in 2010 and was followed by Swa Misava in 2016. She then released her

third album, entitled Hosi Yesu, in 2017, followed by her latest one, Dnzi ta khomelela ka Yesu.

The Tsonga gospel queen says about her latest offering: “This 10-track album has already shaken the local Tsonga gospel music fraternity.” She says that she does her own marketing and values the response she is receiving from the market.

“I believe that, as a Christian, the power of God is helping me to

overcome all the obstacles and tribulations associated with the music industry, especially when you are doing everything on your own. For now, everyone who wants my music can call me on my mobile number at 072 606 9093.”

She encourages aspiring musicians to seek education first before they venture fully into the music industry. “Education is the foundation of a successful life, and it helps you to analyse every situation you come across.”

Ras Chibenga's music appeals to many

By Tshifhiwa Mukwevho Thabelo Tshivhenga, who goes by the name of "Ras Chibenga", is one Rasta whose music is appealing because of its authenticity and freshness.

“I discovered music at a very young age, for I grew up in a family that loved music,” said the 25-year-old reggae dance-hall artist. “I sing my music in the Jamaican ragga-flow style and people who hear me sing love that a lot.”

He stated that he saw himself as a healer who used music to touch the hearts of his fans. “Music should make people feel it, no matter what, for if it doesn’t do that, then it’s not real music,” he said.

He had sung in groups such as Swaggers Records, which was led by Rotshidza Mafadza (Man Dolph) in Duthuni Tshivhambe village.

After a two-year stint in the group, he started

launching his solo music career under Dankie San Recordz, where Shudufhadzo “Mr Zocks” Lukoto produced his first songs, of which Baby Girl was an immediate hit.

“Baby Girl became a great hit that was loved by many people,” he said. “Those from my village would even boast about the song wherever they went, which made me realise that I was part of those elevating my village.”

He has since released more single tracks on which he featured some other artists as well.

His most-loved track of all time is one that he had done with VenRap star Maanda “Racha Kill Mr 5455” Nevhutalu, entitled Ri khou phusha. He produced another hit song, entitled Ndi vhutshilo, with Ramzeey Ramalata.

“So, now I am working on my new album, called The Shining Star Album,” he said. “I have already released a sample

song from it, entitled Bad Gyal (ft Mac J),” he said.

His album will come out mid-December this year.

Richy Muavha lets her guitar do the talking

She was inspired by musicians such as Oliver Mtukuzi and Rihanna. She grew up listening to reggae, Afro Jazz, RnB and pop music. However, she kick-started her singing career in 2017, and she went on to get a national recognition as a guitarist earlier in 2019.

“As a guitarist, I drew my inspiration from my father who used to be part of his independent band,” she said. “I grew up in a home that was filled with musical instruments, and that had fuelled my passion for music. As a child, my favourite instrument was a guitar, as well as a microphone.”

The sad part of Richy’s life that later made her a strong woman is that her father was involved in a minor accident in which he sustained a head injury, to the point where he couldn't remember how to strum the guitar strings anymore.

“After some years, I wanted to jog my father’s memory of playing a guitar, and to achieve that, I bought a classical guitar from the little bit of extra cash that I had,” she said. “I would play my dad his favourite songs now and then.”

A sad episode in her life gave

her more strength. She was hospitalised for six full months after an incident in which a bowl of hot water had accidentally splashed onto the right side of her face and shoulder.

“What got me through those darkest months was my love for singing,” she said. At that stage, she had just endured her parents’ separation.

“I would also sing for other kids in the hospital wards, and that’s why, even today, I love to spend my time with kids.”

She recalled that during one of her visits to her father’s place, she started playing her guitar as a way of making him happy. “I vividly remember how I visited my father just to play him some gems, and how he got lively and picked up his old guitar (which had only three strings left on it by then) and strummed along,” she said. “That was the most memorable moment of my life.”

Richy had so far released some hard-hitting songs that, among others, include Our Favourite Song (ft Razie Kay).

She is currently signed under Rita Dee Entertainment, and she is working on her EP. Her dream is to perform on an international stage with a live band.

Sipho “Smash” Mashau retires after 41 years After 41 years of service to the SABC, the technical producer at Phalaphala FM’s Thohoyandou studio, Mr Sipho “Smash” Mashau, retired.

Mashau started working in 1979, having joined the erstwhile Radio Thohoyandou, which had just started broadcasting at the time. The radio station started almost simultaneously with the birth of the then Republic of Venda. When Radio Thohoyandou ceased to exist, Mashau joined Phalaphala FM in Polokwane.

His first work was as a receptionist and only four years later he got a position as assistant librarian. His penchant and love for music led him further to clinch a position as a music compiler in 1988.

Mashau recalled that he worked as a senior operational assistant, referred to as technical producer, from 1995 until 2020.

Speaking about his retirement, Mashau said it would hopefully afford him time to rest and spend with the family. He plans on travelling, but he also wants to venture into the business world.

Mashau said that he had done all and seen all and, after running his race, he had completely poured himself out and had nothing left in him for the SABC. “So, the race has been run to the finish,” he said. He said he would miss the SABC, for it had become his first home, as well as his colleagues, and the interaction and connection with listeners who had so much become part of his life.

“To my colleagues I say I have learnt a lot from you, and I thank you for the love you have showed me and the unity we had. I wish you well and carry on with the good work you are doing. I will love you, always”.

The acting Phalaphala FM station manager, Ms Sharon Ravele, said that they were saddened

by Mashau’s departure, adding that they had been fortunate to work with him. “It has been an absolute pleasure working with Mashau and his absence will be greatly felt. The station won’t be the same. We would also like to extend our gratitude to him for being a devoted employee throughout his tenure at the SABC, and we wish him the very best for his future endeavours,” Ravele said.

BASS Foundation helps to equip Grade 12 learners in Nzhelele

By Bernard Chiguvare Some 80 Grade 12 learners from different schools in the Nzhelele area attended a preparatory seminar on Saturday to help prepare them for their final examination as well as life after matric. The seminar was presented by the Be a Stepping Stone (BASS) foundation at the EL-Shaddai Christian centre in Rabali village.

The BASS Foundation is a non-profit organisation formed

this year during the hard lockdown period. The three people behind the project are Madega Ronewa, Hulisani Ndou and Mafela Fhulufhelo. Its vision is to assist young people to attain personal freedom and to equip them with the necessary qualities for leadership.

Speaking to Limpopo Mirror, Ronewa said, “This has been a hectic year academically, so we decided to come up with something that will strengthen and give hope to Grade 12 learners. We are very happy,

because after the seminar we discovered learners had more of a direction in making choices in life after matric.”

The learners said the seminar helped them in discovering their potential and the way forward. Most of them had no clue on career choices and what to do during their final examination.

“This helped me to discover myself as I was not aware of how to set my goals,” said Thabelo Mudau, whose dream is to be a soldier.

6. Quality control: Measure quality of work, Measure expenditure against budgets, solve technical problems, Safety management, Ensure that consultants issue completion certificates.

8. Other: Assist in the development of funding proposals and Perform any other duties as may be required.

The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture hereby invites potential writers to enter for the 2020 / 21 literary competition.

GENRE: Novel ; Themes: (1) Covid 19 in South Africa (e.g Politics, economy, education etc).

(2) Gender based violence in South Africa. (3) The role of culture in our society.

Minimum requirements: A minimum of 55 and maximum of 70 typed pages, Font type and size : Arial, 12 with 1.5 line spacing in all the paragraphs.

The competition is presented in six official languages of Limpopo, i.e. Afrikaans, English, IsiNdebele, Sepedi, Tshivenda and Xitsonga.

There are three categories of prizes to be won for each language:

 First prize: R20 000. 00

|  Second prize : R17 000. 00

|  Third prize: R13 000. 00

The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture has in terms of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, Section 6(2) of 1996 which emphasizes that the state must elevate the status and use of the historically disadvantaged languages, the mandate to implement practical and positive measures, to redress the disparities of reading materials in the previously marginalized languages. To do that, the Language Services has allocated an additional amount of R3 000.00 to all first prize winning manuscripts written in the indigenous languages of Limpopo viz: IsiNdebele, Sepedi, Tshivenda, and Xitsonga.

Once submitted for the competition, entries may not be submitted for publication elsewhere. It is only after the award ceremony that authors can have their manuscripts published. However, each manuscript published from this competition is requested to acknowledge that the publication was an initiative with the assistance of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture in Limpopo.

Manuscripts are judged anonymously by independent evaluators who are not attached to the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture; therefore writers are requested to ensure that their names appear ONLY on the entry form.

Each entry must be accompanied by an entry form or a copy thereof. Entrants are advised to keep copies of their manuscripts.

By Frank Mavhungu The ABC Motsepe League national promotional playoffs will finally take place to determine the teams that will be promoted to the GladAfrica Championship Division, bringing months of speculation to an end.

During their meeting held last week, the National Executive Committee for the South African Football Association (SAFA) resolved to declare the 2019/20 ABC Motsepe League in all nine provinces as final according to the existing log standings.

The resolution implies that the nine provincial teams currently occupying position number one will proceed to the national playoffs. The playoffs will be staged in Gauteng from 7 November.

The committee has once again resolved that no relegation will be implemented in the ABC Motsepe League in the 2019/20 season.

In a circular sent out to all provinces, SAFA indicates that the provincial playoffs for promotion to the ABC Motsepe League will also proceed to determine the two teams that will be promoted to that league. Should the provincial playoffs take place as suggested, each province will have 18 teams in the ABC Motsepe League next season.

Asked about their level of readiness for the playoffs, the general manager of Mikhado FC, Mr Tovhowani Musandiwa, revealed that the team had started with their normal training sessions upon receiving the communique from SAFA last week. “It’s good that musicians are now permitted to host music events. Filmmakers, on the other hand, are allowed to resume with film productions, but the social distancing measures that are applicable are still a challenge,” he says.

Ndou plans to start with production of a film that revolves around the coronavirus pandemic.

He is realistic about the restrictions, such as that no more than 100 people are allowed to be on set. For him, however, this is a challenge that he does not shy away from.

Robert Ngambi weighs up options after breaking ties with Leopards

The relationship between Black Leopards Football Club and the team’s midfielder, Robert Ngambi, is something of the past.

According to the club’s director, Mr Tshifhiwa Thidiela, Ngambi’s initial contract expired on 30 June. At that stage, the government was still to give the Premier Soccer League the go-ahead to play their remaining league matches behind closed doors.

In July, the government finally gave the league the thumbs-up to complete their 2019/20 league programme. That prompted most of the clubs, including Black Leopards, to extend their players’ expired contracts by two months. The only Leopards’ player whose contract was not extended after 30 June was Joseph Mhlongo.

Ngambi, together with the likes of Mogakolodi Ngele, Tswarelo Bereng and Thobang, were lucky to have their contracts extended until 31 August. Following the expiry of Ngambi’s contract at the end of August, the club opened negotiations with the player. According to Thidiela, after considering a number of things, the club decided against renewing the contract of the Malawian international.

Speaking to Limpopo Mirror after his departure from the Leopards’ camp on Tuesday, the 34-year-old midfielder thanked Black Leopards for according him an opportunity to revive his football career. By Frank Mavhungu Following the sale of the DStv Premiership franchise of Bidvest Wits to Mr Masala Mulaudzi, the president of Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC (TTM), about three months ago, most of the team’s senior players

had indicated that they were not ready to relocate with the team to the Limpopo Province.

The latest player to request a transfer letter from the Tshakhuma side is Phathutshedzo Nange.

According to Mulaudzi, Nange approached them last week and put it in clear terms that he was no longer keen to play for Vhadau Vha Damani. Mulaudzi revealed that Nange had insisted that he wanted to explore other avenues, despite the fact that they had told him that his services were still needed at the team.

Mulaudzi further stated that the club had finally succumbed to the player’s request on Monday morning. Asked about his next destination, the 28-year-old Nange said that he was still undecided. He refused to confirm the rumour that was linking him to Kaizer Chiefs. He reiterated the fact that he was still making up his mind.

After purchasing the premiership franchise from Wits, the president of TTM reportedly told the players that those who did not want to relocate with the team to Thohoyandou were at liberty to join the clubs of their own choice. The other senior players who had already demonstrated their unwillingness to relocate with the team to Limpopo include Dion Hotto, Thulani Hlatswayo, Sifiso Hlanti, and Thabang Monare.

Nange joined the Clever Boys from Black Leopards at the end of the 2018/19 soccer season. He is one of the players who assisted Lidoda duvha to gain promotion to the premiership division. He scored one goal in the 14 league matches he played for Bidvest Wits last season.
