Ontginning begin in 2012 Deur Isabel Venter CoAL of Africa Limited (CoAL) verwag om teen die eerste kwartaal van volgende jaar met steenkoolontginning by hul Vele Myn digby die Mapungubwe Wêreld Erfenisgebied te begin. CoAL het hierdie aankondiging verlede week gemaak, nadat die Minister van Waterwese, me. Edna Molewa, besluit het om die opskorting van hulle geïntegreerde waterlisensie op te hef. Hierdie nuus is egter nie orals verwelkom nie. Die koalisie van nie-regeringsorganisasies, die Save Mapungubwe-groep, het vandeesweek hul ontevredenheid gelug oor die minister se besluit om hulle appèl af te keur. Verder beweer die groep

dat daar in geen stadium op ‘n deursigtige manier met hulle gekommunikeer is nie. “Ons beskou die minister se besluit as voorbarig, aangesien die departement nog nie skriftelike redes verskaf het vir sy besluit om die waterlisensie in die eersteplek uit te reik nie. Hulle is wetlik verplig om dit te doen,” sê die koalisie in ‘n persverklaring. Wat veral vir hulle kommerwekkend is, sê die koalisie, is dat die minister se besluit permanente en onherstelbare skade aan die streek se alreeds skaars waterbronne kan aanrig. Die minister, argumenteer hulle, het as’t ware ‘n negatiewe presedent daar gestel en dit nou soveel makliker gemaak vir ander maatskappye om aansoek te doen vir die opheffing van skorsings op hul waterlisensies.
Die departement het Woensdag, kort na CoAL se aankondiging, hul besluit in ‘n persverklaring verdedig. Volgens dié verklaring het Molewa besluit om die skorsing te lig “na inagneming van die belang van alle betrokke partye in die saak.” Die koalisiegroep het reeds in Maart vanjaar ‘n appèlaansoek by die Watertribunaal ingedien, nadat Molewa ‘n waterlisensie aan CoAL toegestaan het. CoAL het egter, luidens die verklaring, vir ‘n opheffing van die skorsing gevra hangende die uitslag van die appèl “gesien in die lig dat sulke aansoeke tydrowend is en ‘n negatiewe effek op mynbedrywighede, inkomste en werkers het.” Molewa het verder bevind dat voorwaardes verbonde aan die oorspronklike waterlisensie

Oscar knows a lot about construction Morné Nel, who grew up in Louis Trichardt, is a young man brimming with energy and business talent. Most people know him as Oscar, a school nickname that has stuck. Oscar opened MCI Interior Construction Solutions in March. Steeds geen borg vir vier werknemers Borg kon nog nie vasgestel word vir die vier werknemers wat saam met Louis Trichardt sakeman Martinus Jacobus Oosthuyse van onder meer moord aangekla word nie. Dié mans het weer verlede Donderdag in die distrikshof op Louis Trichardt verskyn. Die 47-jarige Oosthuyse, of Inus soos hy beter bekend is, moes na sy arrestasie op 22 September ‘n nag in die polisieselle deurbring saam met sy werknemers Rodger Chikadzi, Gift Machipisa, David Mapiye en Gilbert Sikhokho Muthelo. Oosthuyse se seun, Tinus (24), is later ook in hegtenis geneem. Die ses mans se inhegteni-
sname volg nadat hulle glo die reg in eie hande geneem het en drie Zimbabwiese mans, wat hulle vermoed het by Oosthuyse se onderneming ingebreek het, agter ‘n bakkie gesleep het. Daar is ook sprake dat die drie beweerde slagoffers aan ‘n boom vasgebind is en met pype aangerand is. Die twee Oosthuyses en vier werkers staan tereg op klagte van poging tot moord, ontvoe ring en aanranding. Beide Inus en Tinus is kort na die voorval op R1 000 borg vrygelaat. In Inus se geval moes daar eers ‘n Hooggeregshofbevel verkry word, nadat die plaaslike polisie glo geweier het om hom vry te
laat op borg. Intussen bly die vier werkers in polisie aanhou ding, nadat hulle borgaansoek reeds drie keer uitgestel is. Ten tye van die voorval het polisie nog na die lyk van een van die drie mans gesoek wat na bewering weens sy beserings beswyk het. Plaaslike polisiewoordvoerder kapt. Maano Sadike het vandeesweek bevestig dat die polisie nog steeds besig is om die saak te ondersoek en nog nie die man se oorskot kon opspoor nie. Die vier werkers se saak is uitgestel tot 27 Oktober, waarna hulle ‘n borgaansoek sal kan bring.

Well-known face at Solly’s passes away VV hou voet by stuk hulle is geïgnoreer One of the best-known faces at Solly’s Discount World in Louis Trichardt and a beloved member of the local community for the past 24 years, Jagadishandra Joshi (68), died last Wednesday.

Joshi, as he was commonly known, was born in Durban in 1943. He was the first born and had six sisters. At the age of 14, his father died and from a very young age he had to start looking after his mother and his sisters. It was this same love and compassion for his family and friends that caused him to relocate to what is now known as Limpopo. His one sister got married and moved with her husband to Louis Trichardt. When her husband died in 1987, Joshi offered to move to this northern part of the country to help take care of her. When he arrived in Louis Trichardt, he joined Solly’s Discount World and for the past 24 years customers from all over have grown accustomed to Jagadishandra Joshi (68) died this soft-spoken man. “We are totally devastated,” was Solly last Wednesday.
Noor’s response this week. “We not only lost a good and loyal worker, but also a dear friend. He was a part of our close family,” he said. At the time of his death Joshi was a group manager at the Solly’s Group. A month ago, Joshi fulfilled a life-long dream by travelling to India on pilgrimage. He also visited two of his sisters who stay in India. When he returned to South Africa last week, he stayed over with his son in Pretoria for a day. Last Wednesday he went to lie down for a while and never woke up. Apart from his six sisters, he leaves behind his wife, Ansuya, his son Divesh and his 98-yearold mother, Lalita. A funeral service was held last Friday in Johannesburg.

In die naamstryd tussen die Minister van Kuns en Kultuur en die Voorsittersvereniging (VV), hou die VV voet by stuk dat hulle totaal geïgnoreer is. Die kantoor van Minister Paul Mashatile het nie die vraag van die Zoutpansberger of hulle die korrespondensie van die VV geantwoord het, reguit beantwoord nie. “Daar is met die inhoud van die briewe gedeel, deur beide die Suid-Afrikaanse Geografiese Naamsraad (SAGNR) sowel as die Minister,” antwoord die minister se adjunk-direkteur van kommunikasie, me. Premi Appalraju. Mnr. André Naudé, voorsitter van die VV, ontken dit ten sterkste. “Daar is steeds geen antwoord e op enige van ons skrywes ontvang nie,” het Naudé gesê. Die laaste vier skrywes is aan Minister Mashatile gerig en volgens die VV is ontvangs nie eers erken nie. Minister Mashatile het die
naam Makhado vir die dorp Louis Trichardt in die Staatskoe rant (Nr. 34607 Staatskoerant, 14 Oktober 2011:Nr 851) gepubli seer. Die VV het op ‘n vergadering op 18 Oktober eenparig besluit dat beswaar teen die naamsv erandering binne die voorgeskrewe 30 dae ingedien gaan word. Mashatile het sy redes vir die verandering van die dorp se naam gestel en gesê ‘n “versoek is van die Makhado Munisipaliteit ontvang om die naam te verander en in terme van die SAGNR is al die nodige prosesse gevolg.” Naudé sê dat hoegenaamd geen redes vir die naamsverandering aan die VV verskaf is nie. “Daar is nie eers vasgestel of daar ‘n behoefte is dat die dorp se naam moet verander nie,” het Naudé gesê en die proses as polities gedrewe en “polariserend” beskryf. Intussen gee die provinsiale naamskomitee hulle interpretasie van die sogenaamde “konsterna-
sie” oor die dorp se naam in hul persverklaring van 17 Oktober, onder die opskrif “Agtergrond oor die Makhado naam”. Hulle begin deur te sê dat die naam Makhado verwys na die ‘westerse’ Venda koning Makhado wa Ramavhoya wat oor die gebied regeer het vanaf 1864 tot sy dood in September 1895. “Die skepping van die naam Louis Trichardt onmiddellik na die Boere se militêre oorwinning, waarin Makhado se seun Mphephu se troon omver gegooi is ( teen die einde van 1898), is egter die primêre oorsaak van die konsternasie rondom die naam: om dit Louis Trichardt te los is ‘n belediging vir die vhaVenda wat voel dat dié naam ‘n vie ring van agressie teenoor ‘n hele kultuurgroep is, en om dit na Makhado te verander, veroor saak konsternasie in opposisie geledere vir presies dieselfde rede,” lui die verklaring deur mnr. Peter Morethane, komitee woordvoerder.

Chamber supports name change petition The Soutpansberg Chamber of Commerce supports the petition against the changing of the name of the town from Louis Trichardt to Makhado. The Chamber says that correct procedures had not been followed to affect the name change. “This in effect means that Government acted outside the scope of the law in pushing the issue, even to the point of having it published in the Government Gazette, whilst not engaging with all interested and/or affected parties. This openly displays a flagrant disregard of the rights
of South Africans of all ethnic groups,” says Mr Willie Botha of the Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber urged its members to consider signing the petition but never to force anyone to do so. “We request that you respect the rights of others by just obtaining the signatures of willing participants,” says Botha. He is of the opinion that Government is being allowed to step outside the boundaries of the law by enforcing the name change. Those who sign the petition give a mandate to the CA to oppose any name change from
Louis Trichardt to Makhado. The undersigned confirm that they had never been reasonably consulted in respect of such a name change. They agree that no proper and fair administrative process had been followed. They also support the opinion that Louis Trichardt and the region will be affected adversely by a name change. The Chairpersons Association and the Chamber of Commerce have requested that all fully completed petitions be handed in at the offices of Coxwell, Steyn, Vise & Naude on or before 4 November 2011.

Die haelstorm het veral boere in die Vivo en Waterpoort ernstige finansiële skade berokken. Volgens mnr. Japie van der Goot, voorsitter van BoBrakrivierboerevereniging, het die haelstorm sekere boere in sy gebied heeltemal uitgehaal. “By van die groente-, babagroente- en tamatieboere is alles
weggeslaan …niks het oorgebly nie. In een van die gevalle beloop die skade tot soveel as R10 miljoen. Aartappelboere het ook groot skade gehad en bestaande, sowel as aangeplante weiding is weggeslaan. Beeste sal nou gevoer moet word totdat die veld herstel het,” het Van der Goot gesê. Klein tamatieplantjies is heeltemal verwoes en van die boere het reeds weer begin plant. Geweldige skade is ook in die Waterpoort/Sandrivier-omgewing aangerig, met boere wat tot 50% van hul oeste verloor het. Volgens mnr. Rudolf Otto, voorsitter van die Waterpoort
Boerevereniging, het gewasse soos pampoene, spanspekke, soetrissies en babagroente erg deurgeloop. “Vir van hierdie boere is dit ook nie iets nuuts nie, en een spesifieke boer is nou vir die sesde keer in 16 jaar swaar getref. Tog bly die boere positief,” het Otto gesê. Skade is ook aan gewasse in die Mopane-gebied aangerig. Tans probeer boere skade aan strukture herstel en ook, waar moontlik, bruikbare produkte van die lande af kry. In baie gevalle is al die blare weggeslaan en as dit nou sou warm word, kan sonbrand netsoveel skade aanrig.

Vermaak warned that babies and the elderly are more likely to suffer from heatstroke, due to inadequate thermal regulation systems and urged family members to monitor them closely during periods of severe heat. “It is also important that you do not leave your children or animals in a vehicle, even with the windows open. Last chance to submit winning photos The region’s photographers have until Monday, 31 October, to submit their entries for the Zoutpansberger and Limpopo Mirror’s highly popular annual calendar photo competition. Prize money totalling R6 000 is up for grabs, with 12 winning pictures to be chosen for each of the year’s months. Winning entries will be published in an A2format 2012 calendar, which will be used by the Zoutpansberger and Limpopo Mirror for marketing purposes. The calendars will also be sold to the public at a minimal fee.Only high-resolution
photos of subjects unique to the Soutpansberg and surrounding areas will be considered for the competition. Wildlife photos are welcome, although the newspaper group would like to see more entries depicting the region’s cultural heritage, its people and landscape.The competition is limited to five entries per photographer, which should preferably be submitted in digital format. Cellphone or postcard-size photos will not be considered for the competition. All entries must clearly indicate who the photographer is, their
contact details, where and when the photo was taken and what camera was used. Although technical aspects such as the quality and sharpness of the photo will be taken into account, the photo should, however, only make for a nice picture. Each of the 12 winning photographs will be bought from the photographer at a price of R500 per photo. As deel van borskankerbewustheidsmaand het KANSA op Louis Trichardt verlede Donderdag gratis borsondersoeke by die Zoutpansberg Privaathospitaal gedoen. ‘n Mikpunt van die borsondersoeke was om vroue aan te moedig om gereeld ‘n selfondersoek te doen en te laat toets vir kanker. “Kanker is ‘n ernstige siekte, maar kan effektief behandel word as dit vroegtydig opgespoor word,” het mev. Marie Coertzen van die kanker omgeegroep gesê. Een manier om pro-aktief op te tree, beveel sy aan, is om deeglik bewus te wees van hoe jou borste normaalweg lyk en voel. Selfondersoeke behoort maandeliks gedoen te word en enige veranderings moet so gou as moontlik met ‘n dokter bespreek word. Die belangrikste verandering om op die uitkyk voor te wees is ‘n knoppie of verdikking in of naby die bors of in die armholte. In totaal het 55 vroue en drie mans gebruik gemaak van die inisiatief. Dog stoned to death in view of public The Louis Trichardt SPCA has laid criminal charges against a man from Muraleni (near Sinthumule) for allegedly stoning his dog to death. According to local animal inspector Lawrence Khodobo, he received a call on Sunday afternoon, informing him that a man was busy stoning his own dog to death in the middle of the street, in full view of the public. Khodobo rushed to the scene, but by the time he got there, the dog was already dead and its carcass dumped in some nearby
bushes. The man was nowhere to be seen. Khodobo took the dog to the Blouberg Animal Clinic in Louis Trichardt for a post-mortem examination. The animal had suffered severe injuries, including a crushed skull, broken bones and bruises. Apart from also being underfed and having a bad skin condition, Khodobo said the animal must have suffered tremendously. Community members identified the suspect and Khodobo later laid charges of animal cru-
elty under the Animal Protection Act (Act 71 of 1962) against the man. The case was registered at the Tshilwavhusiku SAPS on Monday. At the time of going to press, it was not yet know if the suspect had been arrested and whether or not he had appeared in court. Khodobo urged members of the public to contact the SPCA immediately, should they witness any act of cruelty to animals. He can be contacted at Tel 082 965 5151. Children embrace true spirit of Ubuntu A group of pupils from Ridgeway College embarked on an ambitious project to raise money for a child care centre for disabled children and children from vulnerable backgrounds. They were seen last Friday and Saturday on the corner of the Robot Electrical shop, making pancakes and selling them to members of the public at R2 each. They call themselves the Hand Print Rotary Club. "The reason for our calling our club the Hand Print is that we can leave a mark on people's hearts," says Siki Mungulwa (17,) who is in Grade 11. "Our object is to make a small difference in the big world."
They told the Zoutpansberger that they also wish to inspire the youth from other corners of the country to do positive work that affirms a sense of ubuntu (humanity) within people. For instance, a fortnight ago they picked up litter on the roadside along the N1 road, from OK Grocer to the surroundings of Makhado Crossing Mall. "We believe our efforts mean something to our community," adds the president of the club, Elamé Koorts (18). "Even if it's a small contribution, it goes a long way in helping those in need." The club has so far not received any operational funds or help from any established institutions or bodies. They rely
heavily on making personal contributions from their own pockets and homes; from articles such as the table, gas cylinder, flour and eggs, to cooking oil and spoons. Like the strong men who built the huge structures of Rome, they seem to understand that dedication brings about the desired results in the long run. The individual members within the club are generally moved by the need to give and help out, which is a sense of humanity. "If you are privileged to have everything you need and want, then it's only right to help others and give back to your community," concludes a Grade 9 pupil, Taariq Tayob (15).

Oom Dries het hoogstaande diens, van uitstaande gehalte, gelewer op streekvlak, wat ‘n wesenlike verskil vir al sy mede-boere beteken het,” het Van Biljon gesê. Mnr Stephen Hoffman, huidige voorsitter van die Soutpansberg Distrikslandbou-unie (SDLU), het gesê dat Joubert se bydrae tot landbou van onskatbare waarde was. “Sy betrokkenheid het vinnig versprei vanaf Levubu Boerevereniging tot regdeur die hele organisasie. In die SDLU is hy ‘n ware hoeksteen, wat vir almal ‘n rotsvaste voorbeeld stel. Almal weet wie hulle vir raad moet skakel. Sy bydrae tot die gemeenskap lê vasgemessel en sy spore kan orals
gevind word,” het Hoffman gesê. Die toekenning is tydens die TLU SA Noordstreek se Algemene Raadsvergadering by die Rhemardo-vakansieoord (Mookgophong) aan Joubert gemaak.

Louis Trichardt-gemeente nooi ‘n ieder en ‘n elk uit na hul Verjaar Basaar op 4 en 5 November. Die basaar vorm deel van die gemeente se 95ste verjaarsdagviering wat afskop op Sondag, 16 Oktober. Stalletjies sluit in gebak, groente en vrugte, hamburgers en worsbroodjies, jaffels en vetkoeke, kerrie-en-rys, koeldrank, ‘n koffiekroeg en restaurant, nagereg, pannekoek, pap-en-kaiings, stokworse, vleis, biltong en droëwors. Daar is ook stalletjies met boeke, CD’s, DVD’s, asook ‘n platestalletjie, witolifanttafel, uitsaaistalletjie en plantestalletjie, met ‘n tombolatafel, springkastele, speletjies en vermaak vir die jongklomp. Buiten hiervoor is daar ook ‘n armdruk-, boerewors- en fotoraaikompetisie, asook hoede en serpe-strikdaskompetisie, skyfskietkompetisie en blaaspypkompetisie. “Ons onderneem om ons produkte teen onoortreflike pryse aan te bied, siende dat alle pryse gewoonlik teen die einde van die jaar die hoogte inskiet en ons almal dan die sak behoorlik moet skud ten einde te verseker dat ons `n behoorlike en vreugdevolle Kersvakansie kan geniet. So, ons nooi u uit om ons pryse en gehalte op die proef te kom stel,” is die boodskap van die gemeente. Hulle nooi ook al die dorp se bejaardes om gratis `n koppie koffie of tee te kom geniet.

Inskrywing vir die kompetisie is gratis en kan gedoen word vanaf Vrydag 14:00 tot Saterdag 12:30 by die fotoraai-stalletjie. “U kan deelneem in die kategorieë vir laerskoolkinders, hoërskoolkinders, volwassenes en bejaardes. Die Evas neem deel in die hoede en serpe afdeling en die Adams in die hoede en strikdas afdeling. Slegs eerste plekke sal toege ken word volgens die temas Verspot, Eksentriek en die Sixties,” sê die gemeente. Aantreklike pryse op die spel.

Louw in Musina nooi inwoners uit om op 5 November saam met hulle te kom stap vir Bybels. Die stap vind plaas op die MAC Rugbyvelde en skoolvelde en duur vanaf 14:00 tot 20:00, weens die hitte. Toegang behels ‘n donasie aan Bybelverspreiding, terwyl spanne teen R100 (ongeveer tien stappers per span) ingeskryf kan word. Daar sal hope aktiwiteite en vermaak vir oud en jonk wees, met genoeg kosstalletjies om van te kies en te keur. “Skryf nou jou boerdery, besigheid of familiespan in en toon so julle verbintenis tot Bybelverspreiding, of kry ‘n stalletjie om jou besigheid en handewerk te bemark,” nooi die skool.

Tydens die wêreldwye wiskunde marathon het drie Triegie-leerders onder die top 100 leerlinge in Suid-Afrika geëindig. Hulle is (van links) Joleen de Swart (53ste), Douglas Archer (79ste) en Bianca Spies (93ste). Skolenuus
Triegies se wiskunde slimkoppe skitter Leerlinge van regoor die wêreld het aan ‘n wiskunde marathon deelgeneem, met Laerskool Louis Trichardt wat die onderskeiding behaal om tweede onder die Suid-Afrikaanse laerskole te eindig. Triegies behaal 9 962 punte in die wiskunde marathon wat op 26 en 27 September plaasgevind het.
Die enigste Suid-Afrikaanse laerskool wat hulle geklop het, is Hendrik Louw Primary van die Strand in Kaapstad. “Die leerders kon die skool se puik e-media vir die marathon gebruik. Hulle het met behulp van die Internet teen mekaar meegeding,” sê me. Riana Muller, departementshoof van die skool.
Drie van die skool se klasse eindig onder die top 50 klasse in die land. Die 6A’s is in die 31ste posisie, die 7A’s 40ste en die 4Y’s 41ste. Drie individuele Triegie-leer ders het onder die top 100 leerlinge in Suid-Afrika geëindig. Hulle is Joleen de Swart (53ste), Douglas Archer (79ste) en Bianca Spies (93ste).

Klub ruil nuttige idees uit oor tuinuitleg Nuttige idees vir die vestiging van waterbesparende tuinuitleg is uitgeruil tydens ‘n geselligheid wat verlede Dinsdag by Mike’s Kitchen op Louis Trichardt deur Redefine Properties, eienaars van Makhado Crossing, geborg is. Die geselligheid het die kroon geplaas op die plaaslike tuinbouklub se maandelikse uitstappie.
Hulle het vandeesmaand, onder leiding van Maryna Cordier, Carlos Venter se geharde tuine by Greenline Gardening besoek. Hy is ook betrokke by die tuinuitleg by die sentrum. Ané Schoeman, bestuurder van die sentrum, sê Redefine verwelkom gemeenskapsbetrokkenheid en insette in die beplanning van die tuinuitleg by Makhado Crossing, vandaar die uitnodiging aan die tuinbouklub om idees te kom uitruil. Die vroue het geesdriftig saamgesels oor aan skoulike uitleg en sierlike, geharde struike en plante, met die klem veral op klip en aalwyne. Die klublede het ook hul waardering uitgespreek teen oor Carlos, Ané en Jan Kleynhans en sy personeel van Mike’s Kitchen. Mrs Edith Nell Kerchhoff from Louis Trichardt passed away on 21 October at the age of 79. Nell moved to Louis Trichardt in 2002 to live with her daughter. She was an avid bowler, an active member in the Methodist Church and loved visiting the ladies in Ons Tuiste. She leaves behind her son, daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her positivity and quick sense of humour. A memorial service will be held at the Methodist Church (Munnik Street) on Monday, 31 October, at 11:00. Photo supplied.

Local justice centre wins top awards Legal Aid South Africa’s justice centre in Louis Trichardt managed to scoop up six of the 12 category awards during the group’s annual Limpopo and Mpumalanga achiever awards ceremony. Five employees from the Legal Aid office in Louis Trichardt were also among those honoured during the ceremony held at Bundu Lodge in Mbombela on 13 October. Mr Mpho Mushome was second runner-up in the category Candidate Attorney of the Year, while Mr Donald Tshimbiluni won the Lawyer of the Year category. Mr Thomas Madzaga was first runner-up in the category Manager of the Year, while Mr Samuel Malima was second runner-up in the category Brand Ambassador of the Year. Mrs Karen Bezuidenhout was first runnerup in the category Bright Spark of the Year. The Makhado Justice Centre itself was first runner-up in the category Justice Centre of the Year These awards are set to encourage, recognize and promote performance, excellent customer service, client and citizen relations and a passion for justice.

esus gee hoop, daarom is so baie mense vandag sonder hoop. Ef. 2:12b: “Sonder hoop en sonder God in die wêreld.” Hoe nader ons aan die Here lewe, hoe groter die hoop, vir hierdie lewe en die lewe hierna. Die bewys van God se liefde: v. 1: “Kyk watter groot liefde die Vader aan ons bewys het: Hy noem ons kinders van God, en ons is dit ook.” Dit is ‘n ewigdurende liefde. Jer. 31:3 “Ek het jou nog altyd liefgehad, daarom het Ek jou met geduld verdra.” Ons liefde mag verflou, maar God se liefde nooit. Die sekuriteit van God se liefde. v2a: “Geliefdes, ons is nou reeds kinders van God.” Kinders van God word deur die Gees van God gelei. Rom 8:14: “Almal wat hulle deur die Gees van God laat lei, is kinders van God.” Nou sê die Skrif in Gal. 4:7: “Jy is dus nie meer ‘n slaaf nie, jy is nou ‘n kind van God. En omdat jy Sy kind is, het God jou ook Sy erfgenaam gemaak.” Daar is ‘n toekoms met God. v.2 sê: “Geliefdes, ons is nou reeds kinders van God. Dit is nog nie geopenbaar wat ons sal wees nie, maar ons weet dat, wanneer Jesus kom, ons soos Hy sal wees. Ons sal Hom sien soos Hy werklik is.” Die heiligheid van God, wat ons hoop is. v.3: “Elkeen wat hierdie verwagting in verband met Hom koester, hou homself rein soos Jesus rein is.” Iets gebeur wanneer iemand hierdie hoop op Christus en Sy wederkoms het. Dan sê jy: ek wil rein en heilig lewe. 2 Kor. 7:1: “Geliefdes, hierdie belofte is ook vir ons. Laat ons ons dan reining van alles wat liggaam en gees verontreining, en ons in gehoor saamheid aan God volkome aan Hom toewy.” Dit is moontlik deur God se Woord. Ps. 119:9: “Hoe kan ‘n jongmens sy lewe skoon hou? Deur hom te hou aan U Woord.” - 079 5168303

Bulle verkoop goed Bosvelder-bulle van uitstaande gehalte het op 12 Oktober onder die hamer gekom tydens die beesveiling van mnr. Pieter Hoogenboezem by die Vivo-veilingskrale. Volgens Vleissentraal Bosveld, wat die veiling aangebied het, is dit haas onmoontlik om te dink dat daar die afgelope jaar al beter gehalte bulle verkoop is. Dit word grootliks daaraan toegeskryf dat Hoogenboezem nooit gehuiwer het om net die beste diere aan te koop om mee te teel en op veiling aan te bied nie. Kopers van sover as Natal, Wakkerstroom en die Oos-Vrystaat het die veiling bygewoon. Daar is nie gekibbel oor ‘n prys nie en dit het baie vertroue ingeboesem by die kopers. Die hoogste prys van R100 000 vir ‘n Bosvelderbul is betaal deur Uitdraai Boerdery, wat behoort aan mnr. Human du Preez van Dendron. Mnr. Christo Kruger van Kalkbank het R74 000 betaal vir nog ‘n uitstaande bul. Die veiling het ‘n totale omset van R1 313 000 opgelewer, met 29 bulle wat vir ‘n gemiddelde prys van R45 276 verkoop het. Op 14 Oktober, tydens Laerskool Messina se huis swemgala, het die Piranhas en die Tiervisse sake uitgespook. Die Tiervisse het aan die einde as wenners uit die stryd getree. Innes Steyn, uitstekende O/10-gimnas van die Louis Trichardt Gimnastiekklub, verwerf 'n eersteplek op die ringe tydens die Suid-Afrikaanse Gimnastiekspele wat op 5 Oktober in Kaapstad plaasgevind het. Hier is Innes met die goue medalje om die nek.

Die Body Kinetics en Limpopo Melkery Sterkmankompetisie is op 15 Oktober in Louis Trichardt beslis. Afgeneem is ‘n paar van die deelnemers en pryswenners. Voor, van links, is Gerrie Malan (eienaar van Body Kinetics), Andries de Beer (1ste senior), Leon le Roux (2de senior), Ernest Keyser (3de senior) en Niel Swart (4de senior). Agter is Tobias Fourie (Limpopo Melkery), Niel Botma, Eugene Joubert, Nelis Botma, Jaco Esterhuisen (1ste junior), Henk Kotze, Billy Booth en Stefan Kotze (2de junior). Die organiseerders het hul dank uitgespreek teenoor almal wat die dag moontlik gemaak het. Foto verskaf. Vier atlete van Hoërskool Louis Trichardt het medaljes gewen tydens die jaarlikse Marius Lengtonuitnodigingsbyeenkoms wat op 22 Oktober op die Peter Mokaba stadion in Polokwane aangebied is. Van links is die drie O/15atlete, Jonandi Aucamp (goud vir 400m en 100m en silwer vir 200m), Levert Sykes (silwer vir 400m en brons vir 100m) en Rendani Ndouvhada (brons vir 300mH). Elzaan van Eeden (O/17) was weens die eksamen afwesig tydens die neem van die foto. Elzaan het goud vir gewigstoot en silwer vir spiesgooi behaal.
