By Elmon Tshikhudo In an unexpected move, the Hawks in Limpopo arrested a well-known senior Thulamela traffic official on Monday.

The Traffic Manager: Law Enforcement of the Thulamela Municipality, Thilivhali Mulaudzi (48), appeared in court on the same day. His case was postponed to the following day for a bail application.

According to information supplied by the police, Mulaudzi, who is stationed at the Thulamela Municipality’s headquarters in Thohoyandou, is facing charges of fraud. Limpopo provincial police spokesperson Brig Hangwani Mulaudzi said the accused was linked to 1 640 charges of fraud. He is facing 820 cases of issuing fraudulent driver’s licences and a further 820 cases of contravening the National Traffic Act. According to Brig Mulaudzi, the arrest comes after a lengthy police investigation, which started in 2002. He said the arrest came with a recommendation from the Office of the Auditor General.

This comes after a Zimbabwean faith healer, Mr Ivern Chiwaiwai, prayed for them last Thursday.

Ms Avhatakali Netselo, the head of the family, said her problem started 27 years ago, when her son, Thanyani Luvhengo, was born. They soon realised that there were problems with his legs and that he would not be able to walk. He also could not speak.

“One day in 1994, I had a dream that he was telling me that he could speak and walk.” When she visited him the following day, she found that he was walking. “He was only able to walk for a few days, however, and then he became lame again,” she added.

Last week, she met Chiwaiwai during a prayer meeting, and “while praying for the family, Chiwaiwai discovered that a tokoloshe was destabilising the family,” she added. Chiwaiwai told her that, due to the interference of the tokoloshe, Thanyani cannot walk or speak, while his elder brother, Ndivhuwo (31), is “mentally affected”. He also cannot get a job, even though he has an honours degree in music.

Chiwaiwai said the tokoloshe started affecting the family 15 years ago. Chiwaiwai discovered the tokoloshe in a mattress of the bed that was used by Netselo in her bedroom.

After the discovery, the tokoloshe was burnt to ashes, which caused the family great joy.

The chairperson of the CPA, Mr Peter Makananise, said that since the matter was sub judice, people should stop buying stands. Makanise said the

land could not be sold through Permission to Occupy (PTA) documents of the tribal authority, as it was private land owned by registered and verified land-claim beneficiaries. The Department of Rural Development and Land Reform in Limpopo had confirmed that the sites had been claimed by Tshatshongwe CPA. The office of land claims’ regional commissioner in Limpopo emphasised that those who had bought the land on the sites but had not yet built houses should stop building on the land where they were not supposed to be. If they continue building, it might lead to dire consequences and loss of valuable property.

The department advised people to first confirm with the office of the regional land claims commissioner before buying land anywhere in the country.

The department also warned people that land given back to claimants through the land reform or restitution programme cannot be sold without the approval of the Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform.

The case was postponed to 6 August and the trio remains in custody. In denying them bail, the court noted that there was no guarantee that the three accused would not abscond. It was further argued that, since the three were operating as a syndicate, involving several other suspects operating from South Africa, there was a likelihood that they would interfere with the ongoing police investigations if granted bail. The prosecutor, Ms Memory Mandityira, said that on 16 July at around 18:00, Mudzimundirege hatched a plan to steal goats from the complainant. He then went to the complainant’s home-

stead at Goda village, where he teamed up with the other two accused. The court heard that Mbedzi approached Livingstone and Shoko and offered to give them R1 000 each, so that they could assist him in driving the stolen goats to his homestead, and that the two men complied.

When the owner of the goats woke up the following morning, his animals were missing.

He then tracked the spoor of the animals, which led him to Mbedzi’s homestead, where he found four of the stolen goats.

The court heard that the accused had smuggled the other 33 goats to South Africa. A report was made to the police and the three men were arrested.

The Vuwani police bought a uniform for a disadvantaged pupil at Tshifulanani Primary School, and on Friday they handed over the uniform to Rofhiwa Nemadzivhanani, a Grade 7 pupil. The spokesperson for the police at Vuwani, W/O Elijah Malatjie, said they had identified the pupil during a crime-awareness campaign at the school. Under cross-examination, Mulaudzi stated that the alleged victim was a family friend and they had undertaken trips together as families on occasion.

He said it took him by surprise to learn that the woman had laid charges against him. He also confirmed that they belong to the same prayer cell, of which he is one of the leaders.

At the close of business, the state, represented by Adv Christopher Burke, indicated the state's intention to have Mulaudzi's R30 000 bail for the Ha Makuvha rape case cancelled, on the grounds that he had allegedly committed another similar offence while out on bail.

Mulaudzi hit the headlines last

year, when he was arrested after a patient at Ha Makhuvha accused him of raping her while he was treating her. He was later released on R30 000 bail.

Mulaudzi also stands accused of yet another rape, allegedly committed when he offered a lift to a pregnant church member from Polokwane to Louis Trichardt. The incident is alleged to have taken place on 28 June and he handed himself over to the police on 13 July. He is out on bail of R2 000 on that charge and scheduled to appear in court on 29 August in connection with the matter.

Witvlag community fed-up with crime Two suspected avocado thieves’ luck ran out when they were caught red-handed by farmers and community members from the Witvlag-area.

A disheartened group of community members gathered outside the Louis Trichardt Magistrate’s Court in Makhado last Friday to show their dismay with the non-stop theft of the fresh produce that constitutes their livelihood.

Tshikonye Mudau (54) and Avhapfani Philimon Simali (34) were arrested in June when they allegedly tried to steal a bakkie load of avocados to the

value of R20 000. According to information provided, the men were caught red-handed, picking and loading the avos onto their vehicle. It was when they allegedly tried to flee the scene that they drove into a ditch with their vehicle and were arrested.

The two men’s arrest was welcomed, especially by the emerging community farmers, who are mostly pensioners. According to them, they have not been able to harvest a crop for the past five years.

“We want thieves to receive the maximum sentence. Our children do not want to farm

because they see no future in it for them. We are tired of these thieves and want it to become a priority crime,” was the message from these farmers outside the court on Friday.

In the meantime, Mudau and Simali, who were charged with theft, have applied for a legal aid attorney. They will appear in the Louis Trichardt Magistrate’s Court again on Friday, 3 August, for their application to be finalized. Mudau has also laid a counter-charge against one of the farmers who assisted in his arrest.

A well-known Limpopo medical doctor, Dr Justice Mulaudzi, who has become a familiar sight at the courts of late, is in hot water once again.

Mulaudzi (41) of Makwarela Extension 3, who is also a senior clinical manager at Hayani Hospital, now faces a third charge of rape. This time around, he is alleged to have raped a 33-year-old neighbour and family friend. He is alleged to have raped the victim on three occasions in 2011.

On all three occasions, Mulaudzi is alleged to have had sexual intercourse forcefully with the victim at her home. Although the alleged rapes were committed last year, they were only reported this year and Mulaudzi was arrested on 25 July.

He appeared in court on Thursday and his case was postponed to Monday for a formal bail application. The bail application,

The provincial police in Limpopo announced last week that they have hundreds of uncollected licences across the province, waiting to be collected. These include competency certificates, new licences as well as renewals of firearm licences.

According to a press statement, there are 40 licences waiting to be collected at the Makhado Police Station. Thabazimbi has the highest number of uncollected licences (106),

while Nebo’s police station has 80 and Polokwane has 41 licences.

Provincial commissioner Lt Gen Simon Mpembe has urged all persons who applied for firearm licences to go and collect their cards. “We have tried in vain to locate the owners of those cards. Some applicants have relocated whilst others have changed their addresses.

We are now appealing to all persons who applied for firearm licences to go and collect them at their nearest police station,”

said Mpembe.

He added that applicants of firearm licences had to inform the police when they relocated or changed their addresses, so that it would be easy for the police to inform them when their cards were ready for collection.

Energetic project members from the Thohoyandou district office recently spent a whole day washing the vehicles of staff members at Musina Municipality as one of their identified strategies to raise funds. They hope to raise enough funds to buy uniforms, food and study material for orphans and vulnerable children.

According to the organisation’s district manager, Babongile Mudau, Childline is an effective non-profit organisation that works collectively to protect children from all forms of

We will continue to work with other developmental institutions to make sure that we get enough funds to support the destitute children.” Mudau urged community members to report child-related abuses to their 0800 055 555 helpline. The different sections of the Limpopo High Court in Thohoyandou put their schedules aside and assisted disadvantaged children at Thohoyandou Children´s Home. “The Congress of the People (Cope) believes that the role of all traffic departments is to ensure that all the drivers are in compliance with the Road Safety Act,” said the regional chairperson of the party in Vhembe, Mr Geoffrey Tshibvumo.

In a media statement, Tshibvumo alleges that the traffic officers of the Musina Municipality are using vehicles with worn-out tyres, vehicles with no licence discs and vehicles with no hooters. “As Cope in Vhembe, we strongly feel they are abusing their powers,” he says. He mentions that his party feels that all must be equal before the law, “and this includes all government agencies, and Musina Municipality is not immune from this.”

In reaction, the spokesperson for the Musina Municipality, Mr Wilson Dzebu, said that the allegations that

the bakkie being used by their traffic officers does not comply with the safety standards “are misleading, unfounded and baseless”. He added that dents did not suggest that the vehicle was unroadworthy.

He said that the allegation that the vehicle had no licence disc was not true. “The disc has been pasted in the top middle of the windscreen,” Dzebu said. The licence expires on 30 November 2012, he added.

Dzebu also said that they were aware that vehicles on the road should have a minimum tread depth of 1.6 mm over the main treads. “As a law-enforcement agency, we have no reason to use a vehicle that is not roadworthy”. Dzebu acknowledged that they had limited resources, but “we are doing our best to make sure that we deliver quality services to our people,” he said.

Conmen swindle cross border travellers Bogus clearing agents and conmen have descended on the Beit Bridge Border Post, where they are capitalising on the recent sharp increase in the volume of human traffic to swindle travellers out of their money.

When Limpopo Mirror visited the border post last Friday, conmen and bogus clearing agents could be seen milling around the customs yard touting for “clients.” They continue to find their way into the border area through the porous perimeter fence and they are synonymous with swindling unsuspecting travellers out of their money.

They target mostly first-time visitors and foreigners not familiar with Zimbabwean immigration and customs procedures.

They then approach them under the guise of offering to assist in completing the formalities for a fee.

The “services” range from completing customs declaration forms to “quickening the border clearance process” by jumping queues and, in the process, causing commotion at the customs and immigration halls.

Limpopo Mirror observed a small of group of South African tourists being conned of their money by two men who masqueraded as clearing agents.

The local regional immigration manager in charge of Beit Bridge Border Post, Mr Charles Gwede, says the border post has been

extremely busy of late, resulting in criminals' taking advantage of the situation.

“We are aware that criminals, especially conmen and bogus clearing agents, are taking advantage of long queues at the border to lure unsuspecting travellers into accepting their dubious services.

The challenge that we are facing as immigration department is that we have an acute shortage of staff to clear queues during busy days as well as monitoring touts at the same time, thereby making it easy for these criminals to approach travellers and swindle them out of their money,” he says.

Gwede has warned travellers against accepting the services of conmen and unregistered clearing agents. Investigations

by Limpopo Mirror revealed that a conman would demand an average of R500 to assist a traveller to complete a customs declaration form.

The fee escalates to between R800 and R1 000, however, if a traveller is in possession of goods that require the payment of customs duties and the touts facilitate in smuggling the goods across the border. It is, however, the responsibility of the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority and immigration officials to assist travellers not familiar with the border processes and no fee is charged.

Mr James Mudavanhu, a registered local clearing agent, said: “Bogus clearing agents are tarnishing our image.

They continue to enter the customs yard and con unsuspecting travellers. What is mindboggling is the fact that there are police officers and security personnel manning the border, but these criminals conduct their illicit activities right under these people's noses.”

However, sadly, criminals continue to access the area largely because of lax security and the porous fence. We therefore urge all key stakeholders, especially the police, to intensify patrols at the border post to address this problem of criminality,” he said.

Beit Bridge is the busiest inland port of entry in sub-Saharan Africa and handles an average of 15 000 travellers every day, including a huge volume of commercial traffic passing through.

New house for poor unemployed mother An unemployed mother of eight from Ha-Makhuvha-Tshilivho outside Thohoyandou could not believe it when a few Good Samaritans decided to build a new house for her.

Namadzavho Ramashia, who also has three grandchildren to look after, stays in a one-roomed mud hut with her children. The family survives on grants, as no one is working. Six of the children are still at school.

For 11 years, the family has endured the worst living conditions in a rondavel that leaked during rains, but all this is something of the past.

On Thursday, a contingent led by Vho Thovhele Gole Mphaphuli, municipal officials, councillors, community members and other volunteers laid the foundation for the new house, thus ending her years of despair and suffering.

Mphaphuli led by example by helping to push wheelbarrows full of bricks and mixing concrete with the contractors. When it was time to leave, the foundation was already laid.

“I cannot believe this is happening to me. I never thought we would ever have a house for ourselves in our lifetime; a house has just been a dream for us. This is something that we will

cherish forever,” said an ecstatic Ramashia.

She said it was always a problem when the sun set as they would be cramped like sardines in a small pond when the time came to sleep.

"We thank God, who opened the hearts of the contractors and the municipality.”

The councillor for Ward 10, Ms Fulufhelo Mutheiwana, thanked the contractors for their goodwill. "We are very thankful for what you have done here today. The time we spent here together will add to what Mandela stood for, a better life for all,” he said. He urged the municipality to give work to contractors like the ones who had donated the house as they have the interests of the community at heart.

People living with mental illness in around Mutale have called on the provincial department of health and social development to help address shortages of medication at various hospitals and clinics.

In his address during the Rammbuda Mental Health Day celebration held at the Tshakhumba Sports Grounds last Friday, Mabasa said the community should change their attitude towards mental health patients, because some of their bad actions were committed unwittingly. He added that the good news about most mental illnesses is that recovery is possible.

Busani Sibanda (34), pleaded not guilty to the murder of his wife, Sikhulile Dube (24), but was convicted on Thursday of murder with constructive intent by a local High Court judge, Justice Maphios Cheda.

It was testified that on 31 October last year, at around 17:00, Sibanda and his wife arrived at Jennifer Nkomo’s homestead to check on traditional beer that was being brewed there. In the kitchen hut, Dube asked people who were present about her airtime voucher she had left there the previous day.

She also asked her husband about the voucher and this did not go down well with Sibanda. He claimed that the airtime voucher she was looking for had been given to her by a boyfriend.

He slapped her on the cheek and when she tried to run away, Sibanda took a wooden bench which was in the kitchen hut, struck her on the head and all over the body with it. She ran out of the kitchen hut and he followed her, picked up a log and assaulted her all over the body until she fell down.

Sibanda dragged her outside the yard while still assaulting her. Once outside the yard, Sibanda picked up a stone and struck her; she subsequently fell down and lost consciousness. She died as a result of the injuries she had sustained from the assault.

According to the post mortem report, Dube’s body had bruises all over, skull and jaw fracture and the pathologist concluded that the cause of death was sub-arachnoid haemorrhage as a result of a depressed skull fracture, caused by an assault.

Sporting equipment for disadvantaged Nearly 50 schools from disadvantaged communities in the Soutpansberg North Circuit received sporting equipment from Limpopo’s MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture, Ms Dipuo Letsatsi Duba, at an event that was held at Musina High School on Monday.

The much-needed equipment includes megaphones, relay batons, starting pistols, javelins, netball balls and whistles. The event is part of the department’s provincial sport and recreation programme, which aims to distribute sporting equipment to 250 schools and 62 sport hubs in Limpopo.

She added that it was sad that most rural children did not have entertainment activities after school. “This equipment will help to take the children off the streets and bring them to the sporting fields. This will also help to prevent our children from taking part in substance abuse and criminal activities. It will also be easier for teachers to identify talent as most of the successful sporting talents are unveiled at school.”

Duba acknowledged that there are serious challenges in relation

to sporting infrastructure in the province.

“We do not have enough stadiums and indoor sporting facilities where our children can display their talents with ease. Despite all this, we are happy that the province continues to produce professional sports personalities who put us on the world map. We have no doubt that this equipment has landed in good hands and it is the duty of the teachers and the learners to make sure that they are kept safely at all times.”

One of the recipients, Mr Edward Mafune, the principal of Maroi Combined School, expressed his joy on behalf of his school.

“Taking into consideration that our school is located on farms where there are no entertaining activities, these gifts will play a vital role in keeping our learners busy after school.”

New act on driving schools in place

The days of moonlighting for driving school owners are over.

This was revealed during the Vhembe Driving Schools legislation workshop, held at the council chamber of the Vhembe District Municipality on Thursday.

The workshop was organised by the district municipality and was meant to help driving school owners to understand the new

legislation that will govern all driving schools.

According to the legislation, the provincial MEC for transport will be the only person who can approve applications to run a driving school.

The MEC will suspend or cancel licenses of all driving schools that are not complying, and driving school owners will

be held liable for the conduct of their employees. The offering of bribes to instructors or testing officers might lead to the suspension or cancelations of operation licenses of a driving school.

The workshop was attended by more than 100 driving school owners, heads of testing stations, instructors and managers for road traffic in Vhembe.

More accolades for referee “Papi” The name Lufuno “Papi” Nemagovhani is fast becoming associated with accolades.

Her most recent achievement was when she was nominated as the best referee during the Sasol Women’s League National play-offs, which were staged at the Umlazi Stadium in Durban three weeks ago.

Nemagovhani officiated in seven matches during the tournament. She said that she realised that her performance was impressive during the tournament when she was told that she would officiate in the final between Super Falcons and Cape Town Roses.

Super Falcons were crowned the champions after beating Roses 2-1 in the final.

The 28-year-old Papi was presented with a trophy, a gold medal and a soccer ball during the prize-giving ceremony, which was held at the stadium shortly after the final game.

It was not the first time for Papi to be named the best referee in a national tournament. When she went to Rhodes University in the Eastern Cape to officiate in the national championships tournament for universities, little did she know that she would be crowned the best referee for the tournament at the end of the event.

In 2010, she went to the University of North West, where she officiated at several matches during the Absa Women’s League U/17 national playoffs. She came back home with a trophy and gold medal after she was nominated the best ref in the tournament. Her first national achievement was when she was named the best referee during the Sasol National play-offs, which were staged in Cape Town in June 2009.

She was born at Makungwi village in the Nzhelele Valley and said her dream was to become an international female referee.

Dynamos still not certain about future The future of Dynamos Football Club as an affiliate of the National First Division (NFD) is still hanging in the balance, despite the fact that the disciplinary committee of the Premier Soccer League delivered a sanction regarding their complaint against Bay United last Thursday.

Following the announcement by the league at the end of last season that Dynamos and Atlie FC were relegated to the lower division, the Giyani outfit lodged a complaint with the league soon afterwards.

On their letter of complaint, Dynamos alleged that Bay United FC had fielded an improperly registered player in some of their league matches.

The matter was postponed numerous times before it was finally concluded last week. During the sittings, Dynamos proved to the committee beyond doubt that the player who was registered as Realeboga Bolly Matlou was indeed not the said player.

Addo matches The soccer teams participating in the Addo Trade Security Masters Tournament will play several matches tomorrow (Saturday).

Black Leopards Masters will play against Khakhu FC at Eltivilas, while Mandiwana Masters will travel to Matidza village for their match against Matidza FC. Ellis Masters will meet Makungwi FC at the Makungwi grounds.

The committee found Bay United guilty of fielding an unregistered player. Bay United were fined an amount of R300 000, R200 000 of which was conditionally suspended for a period of 12 months. Apart from the fine, Bay United were also ordered to pay the costs of all sittings in respect of the matter.

The sanction did not go well with the chairman of Dynamos FC, Mr Pat Malabela. According to him, the committee should have expunged the points in respect of the matches in which the player in question was fielded. He indicated that the rules were pretty clear in cases like this one, saying all clubs which were previously found guilty of a similar offence had lost points through expunction.

After realising that the sanction handed down by the committee does not include the expunction of points. Dynamos filed an appeal with the South African Football Association. The date on which the appeal will be heard was still to be announced at the time of going to press.

Should the appeal board rule that the points should be expunged, Bay United will be relegated to the Vodacom Promotional League, making way for Dynamos to escape the chop.

Ngwenani Young Chiefs beat Rockers FC 6-5 at the Makwarela Stadium last Sunday. With their victory, they booked a place in the final of the prestigious Vhembe Mayoral Challenge Tournament.

The diminutive referee, Mr Christopher Mugeri, warned Aluwani Masala of Young Chiefs with a card when the game was nine minutes old. He tackled Ofhani Mudau roughly.

Rockers were the first to draw blood. Their opening goal was scored by Mashudu Siobo.

Things turned against Rockers when their midfielder, Hulisani Thanyani, was given his marching orders.

Thanyani tackled Evans Netshitungulu dangerously and the referee was quick to show him red.

Young Chiefs found the equaliser through Eric Mangenzhane. He scored after a throw-in by Lutendo Themeli.

Hard-fought victory for Young Chiefs

Fighters out of Muvlindavhathu Cup Rambuda Young Fighters will not take part in the semifinal stage of the Mulindavhathu Soccer Challenge.

They were booted out of the competition by Tshifudi XI Experience, who brutally walloped them 4-0 at the Khubvi Benjies grounds on Saturday. Young Fighters displayed entertaining football in the first half, but their stamina vanished with time. They were the first to come close to scoring. Their lethal striker, Khamusi Netsianda, was unfortunate in the eighth minute. He fumbled at the goal finish, with the keeper already beaten.

The captain of Young Fighters, Funanani Singo, handled the ball within his own penalty box and that was a clear penalty for Experience.

The keeper of Experience, Rotshidzwa Muleka, took it upon himself and scored from the white spot to give his side a 1-0 halftime lead.

Young Fighters lost hope when they were reduced to 10 men six minutes into the last half.

Rotshidzwa Mulaudzi was given his marching orders, following an illegal tackle on Aluwani Nelufule. As if they were leading, Young Fighters started to play defensive football. To rub salt

into their wounds, Young Fighters lost their keeper, Murunwa Nkhumeleni, to a red card. He kicked the striker of Experience, Zwothe Muthelo. The team’s captain, Funanani Singo, took over as the keeper.

What followed thereafter was one-way traffic. Experience

scored their second and third goal in quick succession. Khumbulo Nemakonde and Lutendo Mudau scored in the 67th and 74th minute respectively. They were awarded another penalty later in the game. The keeper, Rotshidzwa Muleka, did it again from the penalty spot.

Jonathan are the new champions

After recovering from an unknown disease which kept her bedridden for 11 years, a resident of Tsianda, Ms Thifhindulwi Girly Thanyani, felt the need to hold a thanksgiving party as a way to thank the Lord for making her healthy again. The event was held at her Tsianda home last Sunday morning. Thanyani is a teacher at Lwamondo High School.

Family members and the church leaders from her congregation, who shared the podium during the ceremony, described Girly as a true Christian, saying she did not surrender to the calls by family members who tried to persuade her to consult with traditional healers at the time when she was gravely ill. Jonathan Thifhulufheli High are the new champions of the schools’ winter tournament, after beating Litshovhu High 2-1 in the final match, played at the Makhado show grounds during the Makhado annual show last Friday.

The two teams played to a 1-all draw and the winner was determined through a penalty shoot-out.

As usual, Litshovhu displayed entertaining football from the onset, but failed to find their way, due to the tough defence from Jonathan.

The absence of Litshovhu’s midfielder, Willy Mukwevho, was evident from the start. The players who were manning the midfield, Humbulani Mukwevho, Sedzani Ndaza and Sipho Mudalana, were displaying individual skills most of the time, instead of playing as a team and creating more scoring chances for their strikers.

Robby Munonoka of Jonathan found the net after a rebound in the 15th minute. Jonathan’s keeper, Tshimangadzo Masala, had to stretch to the limit to save Dakalo Nwanamidwa's volley at the end of the first half.

The second half was characterised by wasted chances in the Litshovhu camp. Sedzani Mashamba increased the score in the 49th minute. He received a square pass from Sipho Mudalana and blasted in a ground cutter from close range.

Santos, Experience in Mulindavhatu top The semifinal and final matches of the Mulindavhathu Soccer Challenge will be played this weekend.

The semifinals will be played at the Khubvi Benjies grounds tomorrow afternoon, while the Lufuno Ndou attacks with the ball, while Willy Ndadza tries to intercept. final will take place at the Tshiseluselu grounds on Sunday.

Tomorrow’s opening match will be between Mukula Young Santos and Tshifudi XI Experince.

The match will start at 13:00. Mudaswali United Brothers and The Dolphins FC will meet at 15:00.

The winners in the semifinals will meet at the Tshiseluselu ground on Sunday afternoon.

According to one of the organisers of the tournament, Mr Ntshengedzeni Mbedzi, the champions will receive R2 000 and a floating trophy, while the runners-up will become R1 000 richer. The third- and fourth-placed teams will receive a soccer net each.

Prizes for Try Again’s best players The champions of the Munyamela Soccer Tournament, Tshiombo Try Again, held their annual prize-giving ceremony on Saturday.

The club was established in 2003 to cater for the U/12s and later for U/16s. They affiliated with the Super League in Vhembe in the 2010/11 season, and finished the league in the 11th position.

During the past season, they won the Munyamela Soccer

tournament, which was played in Muhuyu.

Ten teams participated in the tournament and Try Again beat Tshiombo XII Securitas in the finals. The victory made the team R2 500 richer.

The team also received R800 as the runners-up in the Dishume knock-out competition.

Brother vs Brother The final of the Vhembe District Mayoral Challenge Tournament will be staged at the Makwarela Stadium tomorrow.

Ngwenani Young Chiefs and Madombidzha Arsenal will meet in the dream final. Arsenal did

the unexpected when they beat Muthelo FC 8-7 in their semifinal at the same venue last Sunday.

Young Chiefs’ way to the final went via Rockers FC, whom they beat 6-5 in the semifinal.

Coincidentally, Young Chiefs and Arsenal are coached by two brothers, Messrs Mukosi Themeli (Young Chiefs) and Maanda Themeli of Arsenal.
