The split within the United African Apostolic Church (UAAC) has turned nasty. Over the past weekend the archbishop of one of the factions was allegedly involved in an altercation with a security guard. Archbishop Itani Mureri (49) appeared in court on Monday (1st), facing a charge of assault.

The incident allegedly happened at the church’s headquarters at Ha-Mavhunga. The exact details of what had happened were not made public, but Itani Mureri had allegedly kicked a security guard when he was confronted at the entrance to the church centre.

Mureri appeared in the Dzanani Magistrate’s Court on Monday. He was released on a warning and the case was postponed to 29 June.

Mureri’s court appearance was confirmed by the police’s spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo.

The UAAC was founded by the late Paulos Matsea Miriri in 1912 and currently boasts more than 1,5 million church members.

Well-known comedian Livhuwani Madadzhe (31), better known as Captain SABC Livhu, is accusing a former friend of his of assault and theft. The case is scheduled to appear in the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court on June 24.

Madadzhe has laid charges against Muvenda Ndou, the publisher and editor of the tabloid-style local newspaper, The Opinion. He alleges that Ndou stormed into his office in Thohoyandou and, without any provocation, started to assault him. “He grabbed me on the back of my arms … bit me and smashed my cellphone during the struggle,” said Madadzhe. He further alleges that Ndou then took R5 000 that was meant to purchase stock for his business.

Friction between Madadzhe and Ndou seems to have existed for some time. Madadzhe said that he and Ndou had regularly exchanged ideas in the past. In March this year, Ndou allegedly made some negative comments on Captain SABC Livhu’s Facebook page.

The comments allegedly implied that Madadzhe made fun of people who were addicted to drugs without really trying to help them rehabilitate.

Madadzhe disputed this and said that he went out of his way to try and assist people who battled with drug addiction. In one case, he arranged with a doctor to assist a young and talented artist who battled with addiction.

The MEC of Transport and Community Safety, Ms Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya, conducted an oversight visit to the newly constructed border fence along the South Africa/ Zimbabwe border. The 1,8-metre high fence was constructed the past few months at a cost of almost R1 million per kilometre with the project totalling R37 million. The project has come under tremendous scrutiny as even before it was completed, sections of the fence were routinely cut and vandalised by illegal immigrants slipping over the border. Safety of learners and teachers will determine opening of school date

Mathabatha said the key principle to guide their work should be informed by the safety of the learners, teachers and support staff in their schools, while ensuring that the re-opening of schools did not contribute in any way to the spread of the coronavirus.

According to Mathabatha, the risk-adjusted strategy requires them to maintain a delicate balance between saving lives and saving the academic year. MEC Boshielo warned that they would not allow any

school to open if it did not comply.

Mob attack and kill young man mistaken for rapist

By Silas Nduvheni A young man who was mistakenly identified by community members as a rapist met his untimely death after an alleged mob-justice attack in Shayandima Zone 1 outside Thohoyandou last Wednesday night.

Family member and spokeswoman Ms Mashudu Nematatani said the deceased, Mr Ntanganedzeni Muthevhuli (37) of Lwamondo-Khumbe, had gone to Shayandima Zone 1, where he was assisting his grandmother in her orchard. Last Wednesday evening, the community in Shayandima was allegedly informed about a man who had attempted to rape a young child on the block.

Members of the community then found Muthevhuli and allegedly attacked him viciously.

He was taken to hospital after the attack but later died, said Nematatani.

Limpopo police spokesperson Brig Motlafela Mojapelo said the police had been informed of a man who had been seriously injured in the streets of Shayandima that night. “Our members of the police reacted swiftly together with emergency personnel and, on arrival, they found a man lying down with serious injuries. He was then taken to hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries and died,” said Brig Mojapelo.

According to Mojapelo, no arrests have been made and the involved suspects are still unknown; police investigations continue.

The provincial commissioner of the SAPS in Limpopo, Lt-Gen Nneke Ledwaba, called on the community members to report any criminal activities to the police and not to take the law into their own hands.

The U-Save store in Madombidzha re-opened last week, a day after it was closed. The store was closed last Wednesday (27th), following a joint Covid-19 operation. The operation included members of the SA Police Service, the SA National Defence Force, environmental-health practitioners, traffic officials and disaster-management officials from the Makhado Municipality. The team was accompanied by the mayor of Makhado Municipality, Cllr Samuel Munyai. The store was apparently closed because it did not have the necessary licenses allowing it to operate. The situation was rectified and, according to the U-Save manager, Mr Fhatuwani Mathavhathe, they are happy to be back doing business.

Masindi of Musina. He passed on at the ripe age of 95 after battling with some illness.

Masindi played a major role in the establishment of the UAAC branches both in Musina and Zimbabwe in the years around 1950. He also personally took an initiative to register the church with the then Messina Town Council.

Masindi served in various senior positions in church, including being a member of the disciplinary committee at national level. He was also a political activist who once went in exile to Zimbabwe, following his countless interrogations by the then apartheid government.

Born in Thononda village in 1925, Masindi moved to Musina in 1943 and became the first person to operate a donkey cart while selling firewood around the area. He constructed a lot a donkey carts that were later sold to residents. During those days, owning a donkey cart was a symbol of success.

As a loyal member of the UAAC,

Masindi had a long history in the church and had seen all the changes. He had faithfully served under three archbishops of the church, namely Archbishop Paul Miriri (deceased), Archbishop Elias Miriri (deceased) and the current Archbishop David Mureri.

Mureri expressed sadness over Masindi’s passing. He said the old man was a strong tower, pillar, pathfinder, and bulldozer of the church who had sacrificed his life for the growth of the gospel of God. “He was larger than life. Words alone cannot describe his greatness. The church is what it is today because of his contributions. The history of our church can never be narrated without his name. We send sincere condolences to the family and all who had the pleasure of knowing and working with this kind man of God. We will miss his wisdom, advice, prayerful mood, and his unique and spiritual gospel preaching talent. Although we are mourning his passing, we thank

God for giving us a wonderful gift in him.”

Family spokesperson Marcus Muthude Masindi said the deceased was a very gifted spiritual person who believed in prayer. “God used him to warn us about the future and he was the first person to prophesy about the division of our church 15 years ago. Although he was sick, we thought he would recover and continue to work for the church and the people of God. However, as a family, we are very proud that we have produced one of the giants in the religious sector and a soldier who has worked hard in the development of Musina and the local community. He might be gone, but his contributions will live with us for ever.”

He was buried in Musina last Friday under strict regulations in terms of the Disaster Management Act to combat the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. He is survived by his wife, Ennie, and seven children.

Lufuno brings worship into homes

By Tshifhiwa Mukwevho Gatherings of any nature might be still prohibited during the national lockdown alert level 3, but that did not stop multi-award-winning Lufuno Phalandwa from bringing a much-needed gospel concert into the homes of his legion of fans.

For Tshivenda gospel music lovers, the past Saturday and Sunday nights were a revival, a crusade, and a soul-winning session when Phalandwa went online, streaming his golden Midnight Hour Worship DVD live.

“On Saturday night, gospel lovers had amazing reviews for songs such as Tshedza Tshanga, Vhuthu hau Yehova and the reigning national song of the year, Nga a rendwe, but the pick of the night was Nikodemo,” Lufuno said.

“People could not stop talking about Lutendo ‘Diwa’ Tshivhase, who played iconic drums on the song.”

Sunday night was no different, with arguably Venda’s current gospel anthem Shela Muya getting the thumbs up once again. Supporters wrote on social media platforms, expressing how winter turned into summer when they danced to songs such as Loko yi

ta Hosi, U ntshimbidza ho lugaho and Ke nna yo Morena. Sunday’s worship session kicked off with Idani Nothe, a song that has been enjoying television coverage like no other.

“The idea of airing my project was conceived when many of my fans demanded that I do something to keep them close to God during these difficult times when church doors have been shut,” he said. “Gathering as a group with my full band would have contravened the lockdown regulations, so my management company decided to debut my live DVD, which was watched by the public for the very first time.”

The Ha-Mutsha-born worshipper said the feedback he received from the public was humbling.

“It felt like we had just recorded the project and their words of encouragement made me feel like I could immediately release the new songs I have been working on. I cannot wait for Covid-19 to disappear, so that we can get back to normal and gather with saints to worship the Almighty,” said an ever-smiling Phalandwa.

Before the lockdown, Phalandwa had planned to release a single in

August, which was to be followed by a live recording in December. His manager, Robert Netshiunda, said the plans of God must prevail over those of humans.

“God’s timing is the best. When the dust has settled, we shall record another project but for now, we want to support our government in the fight against the coronavirus,” Netshiunda concluded.

Fantastic Boy aims to fly higher

By Tshifhiwa Mukwevho When he sits down to work on his music, the 26-year-old Happy Vhahangwele Khakhu, who is known to music lovers as Fantastic Boy, aims to compose the kind of music that contains motivational messages.

Born and bred at Muila Muumoni village, he said that he sang about current social matters and this was another reason why his music was popular. “As an artist I send realistic massages to my fans through my music,” he said. “I also sing about things that are happening daily,” he said.

He discovered that he had the talent of a singer way back in 2011. He would sing in church and people loved his voice.

“I was a leader of a Sunday school in my church,” he said.

“To me, music is a fountain of life in that I do not only sing when I am in the studio. I hum a song or even sing loudly as I walk in the streets of my village, and I do it to an extent that some people at my place think I'm insane.”

He holds the view that music can speak loudly to everyone in any part of the world. “People love dancing while they also enjoy the lyrics of the music, making it simple to pass the message along to them,” he said.

He is inspired by the multi award-winning King Monada.

“What I like about Monada is that he is putting Limpopo on the international map through his amazing quality music,” he said.

“His music is of the highest level; so, whenever I get into the studio, I aim to emerge with music of quality that is contagious.”

Art & Entertainment Album in remembrance of Jahman Chinganja Entertainment When the local reggae music legend Jahman Chiganja (Humbulani Colbert Muthude) died in February 2018, several speakers during his memorial and funeral services promised to look after his family. Some of the artists also promised to release the deceased’s album that he was working on at the time of his death.

This was easier said than done as most of the promises done during that time vanished into thin air. This was exclusively revealed by the late Jahman Chijanga’s nephew, Ndivhuwo Nekhwalivhe, who goes by the name Jahman Mudengu in the reggae music fraternity.

Jahman Mudengu revealed the family’s painful experience of his uncle’s death with the release of his reggae music album entitled Mavu a la vhathu – Rest in Peace Jahman Chiganja.

“My uncle’s death has taught me so many things in life. He died at a time when, as a family, we needed him most. But when he passed on, we were overwhelmed by the support we received from many people, artists, and various stakeholders. Promises were made but little has been fulfilled up to so far.

We no longer care that some people have used my uncle’s name in vain. As a family, we have accepted our fate and we must face our own struggles to make ends meet. With hearts oozing blood on a daily basis, I decided to reveal this whole experience through music.”

Mudengu, who played various musical instruments for his uncle during his lifetime, said he had included one of the songs he sang alongside Jahman Chiganja on his tribute album. “I still remember that Sunday afternoon when my late uncle arrived at my home and found me playing a song in my studio. Without any rehearsals, he jumped in with the vocals and in

few seconds, we did a particularly good song, entitled Mbilaelo. He jokingly told me not to ever delete the song from my system and I obliged, not knowing that he was saying goodbye to me. Two years after his death, I retrieved the song and included it on my album.

This song is a prompt reminder of Jahman Chiganja’s musical being as his voice reminds us of the magic he used to perform with his beautiful voice while he was still alive.”

Mudengu says although this was his first album, his music was well received by fans and the album was receiving fair airplay, especially on community radio stations.

The album contains eight songs, namely Mbilaelo, Ndo tangana thoho, Mavu a la vhathu, Shango lo tshinyala, Freedom, Fulufhelo, Ndo rumiwa and Malume anga.

Claudina Muladelo Ramulondi, affectionately known as Clauds in music circles, believes that music has the power to change people’s beliefs and life in general.

Clauds, who hails from Ha-Mashamba, started singing at the age of 11 in school and Sunday school choirs. "I have been singing at church ever since I learnt how to sing, but lately I started writing and performing soul, Afro jazz and R&B music," she said.

Her music is smooth, soothing, and very kind to the ear.

She sings about issues that affect people daily, including politics, love, issues in relationships, and her music also serves as an inspiration to those that are going through depression and other emotional stresses. "My music is meant to make people of all ages feel relaxed, motivated and have a positive outlook on life and situations around them," she said.

Clauds released her debut single, Shango lashu, in December 2019. This single addresses the hotly debated land issue in South Africa. The release of the single has been well received by fans all over South Africa and abroad.

Mapate church reaches out to poor

Pastor Felicia Singo, of the church in Mapate village, said life had been a nightmare to some of the people during the lockdown. “We then collected money within our members

and donated parcels to 20 needy members from the church. We also informed the traditional leader of the village to identify those we can assist.

Another 20 people also benefited,” said Singo.

According to her, the food parcels include 12,5 kg mealie meal, 2 bottles of cooking oil, fish, a tray of eggs, cabbage, and a tin of achar.

shibvumo Ravele, was over the moon with the donations. “We will keep on praying that God may give more to the church that cares for poor and needy people. Our village is rural based and more of our families are unemployed, and without donations of food they could starve,” said Ravele.

He called upon some other Good Samaritans to also donate food parcels to his village as more help is needed.

“I felt the need to contribute to the people because many remain unemployed, while some were no longer earning due to the lockdown, and others are people who honestly cannot afford that much due to their unfortunate conditions,” he said. “I had spoken with some people whom I met, who had

no masks on, and they told me that they had no masks since they cannot afford them. So, we also decided to donate hundreds of masks to people. We are also happy that the people appreciate our contribution.”

An elderly lady who also received a food parcel, Vho-Elisa Munyai from Luvhalani village, said that she was happy for the food parcel, which had come at the right time when she had no food left in the house. “The social grant that I receive had become so small in that food prices have become higher during the lockdown,” she said.

“Petrol price has been reduced, so the government must also intervene in the food industry and ensure that prices go down.”

During the handover at Tshakhuma last Thursday, members of the SAPS and the South African National Defence Force were around to monitor the situation.

The Madombidzha Rugby Club have partnered with Kone Village Boutique Lodge to collect blankets and clothes for less fortunate people in Madombidzha.

Tony Marageni, spokesperson for the rugby club, said that with the winter cold coming, many of the residents of the area were in desperate need of warm clothing and blankets.

He appealed to the community to donate blankets, clothing, and shoes to the drive.

“We are also working with Grace IT who will make sure our collections will follow all the hygiene precautions to protect everyone from spreading the Covid-19 virus.

All the donations will also be sanitized before being distributed to the community,” he said.

Tshisa Madima still playing soccer

By Kaizer Nengovhela Soccer legend Tshisamphiri “Tshisa” Madima, motivator and developer of many professional players from around the area, is still playing soccer.

Madima started playing for the first division at the age of 16 for Phiphidi Waterfall Chiefs. He moved to Gwamasenga United Brothers and went back home where he and his brother, Masala, formed Masikhwa Young Stars. He was recruited by Shoes Tshilate to play for Shayandima Bob’s Stars but had a fallout with the team and went on to join Makwarela United Scientists and, subsequently, NTK FC. He went back to Bob’s Stars for some time before he joined Sibasa Black Leopards

where he played until he left the game because of work commitments.

When he was still playing for Leopards, they were beaten

by Ratanang Maholosiane in the final match for promotion to the PSL. “We almost made it to promotion. I was requested by my younger brother, Maanda Themeli, to come and help Tshiozwi Dynamos, and I obliged.”

Because football was in his blood, together with Mahlatsi Matlala they formed a departmental football team that was later called The Legend FC. “I still play for that team,” he said. Madima formed a team for legendary players, called Thohoyandou Stamina Free.

“Later, with Nanana Masase, Chris Mahandana and Luambo Rathogwa, we formed a team known as Thohoyandou

Masters, a team I am playing for up to today.”

Madima said he turned down offers to play to the following professional teams: Pretoria Callies, Witbank Black Aces, Kaizer Chiefs and Moroka Swallows. This happened when he was at the University of the North.

“When I went to the University of Natal, I was offered the chance to play for Durban City and Durban Bush Bucks.

I could not accede to them as education was a priority.

He played alongside players such as Drie Hlambela, Ace Kabote, Chippa Ramabulana, Simon Ncube, Chippa Mathode, Ivy Mathuba, Junior Monobe, Shoes Tshilate, Shadrack Matidze, Lolo Themeli, Scara, Lolo Shikwambani, Kenny Matshumela, Shiver, Soul (Papa wa Given) Ace Ndou, Ace Ramabulana, Ace Muthelo, Pele Likhade, Pro Sinyosi Tenda and Masikhwa Spit Mukwevho.

He holds two master’s degrees in town planning and project management and owns his own town-planning company in Polokwane.

He encourages youngsters to focus when they want to achieve their dreams. Madima said that discipline was key, and education was of primary importance in their future.

“Those who have talent, balance your football career with education. You do not play football until you die.”

About his football career, he emphasised that the journey had been a long and fulfilling one.

Some of the races he recalls include the Johnson Crane, Soweto Marathon, Magaliesburg Race, Two Countries Marathon, Mall of the North Race, Polokwane Mayoral Race, Tzaneen Spring Open Race, Run For Cancer, to name but a few. “I really do not remember all the races I ran, because they are so many. I feel on top of the world when I run with fellow athletes in various races, because this is something that I enjoy most. My dream is to take part in the Comrades Marathon one day.”

He plans to start a running club in his village to nurture young talent in athletics.

Food parcels were handed to needy families in Tshikwani and Madombidzha by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) a fortnight ago. Mr Stanley Malotsha from SASSA said it was impossible for the unemployed and those who were relying on informal jobs to get through this period, which was why the emergency food parcels were distributed.

A long-distance runner ,who only runs to keep himself fit, has lost count of the number of medals he has collected over the past years.

Nelson Nyatheli of Tshilapfene Ha-Radali, near Donald Fraser Hospital, says he does not recall how many medals are in his suitcase, because he only runs for fun, not for financial gain, name, or fame.

“The medals are many. I have lost count. I just collect and put them safely after each race. I have a fulltime job that I enjoy, but I just run to keep myself fit and healthy,” he said while displaying some of his precious medals.

Nyatheli said he started running while he was still a little boy. “I used to outrun my peers when we looked after goats at the grazing fields. I was also an athletics star during my primary and high school days.

I represented Frans Rasimphi High School on several occasions during athletics competitions. Everyone knew that there was this “short boy” at Frans Rasimphi High School who ran like a jaguar.”

Although Nyatheli is a smart runner, he does not want to

Local football legend “Ntike” is now involved in politics

By Frank Mavhungu Mr Thivhonali Khorommbi Nemavhola is a local football legend who has a rich history. He started playing soccer at a tender age and was the first goalkeeper for Makwarela Primary School in the mid-sixties.

His road to fame started way back in 1974, when he became the number one goalkeeper for Mphaphuli High School. While at the school, Nemavhola joined one of the affiliates for the Venda First Division, Mahwahsane Happy Fighters or Maxwete as they were widely known. There he played alongside the likes of Reuben Dzivhani, Tshidumbu Lalumbe and the late Paul Netshilindi. He later migrated

to Lufule Flying Bombers.

Nemavhola, or Ntike as his fans called him, established his own club, Sibasa Home Defenders FC, thereafter, where he served as a player-coach for several years.

Nemavhola was one of the founder members of Thohoyandou Datsun Highlanders FC, a club that produced several soccer stars of the time, including David “Nanana” Masase and Moses “Shoes” Tshilate.

He was appointed the coach for the Venda national soccer team in 1979. He scooped several awards during his time as a player and as a coach.

The 65-year-old legend served in several football structures after hanging up his soccer boots in the early eighties. He was one of the

founder members for the Unity Football Association in 1987. He served as the president of the Thohoyandou One District Football Association between 1993 and 2006.

Nemavhola worked as the general manager of the then Premier Soccer League side, Rabali Blackpool FC, in 1995. He was elected the deputy president of the Venda Football Association in 1996, a position he held until 1998. He was elected the president of the SAFA Vhembe Regional Association in 2009. As the president of the region, Nemavhola automatically became a member of the South African Football Association at national level. That was where he served as the chairperson for the

refereeing sub-committee.

According to him, his memorable time was when he was appointed head of the delegation for Black Leopards in the Orange/CAF Inter Club Championships way back in 2011. Nemavhola vanished from football circles a year later.

After retiring from the Department of Home Affairs, where he worked for more than 40 years, Nemavhola revealed that he now spends much of his time running his businesses, apart from his active involvement in political activities. He is the deputy chairperson of the Thohoyandou branch of the African National Congress and the chairperson of the Thohoyandou Golgotha Civic Association.

Will the Nefale annual soccer tournament take place?

By Frank Mavhungu Whether the annual Nefale MI Soccer Tournament will be staged this year remains to be seen, according to one of the organizers of the event, Mr Ronewa Nenzhelele. The tournament is normally staged at the Phalama Grounds in the Mutale area in

September.

Nenzhelele revealed that they usually started with the preparations for the tournament in April.

He stated that holding preparatory meetings had not been possible this year because of the national lockdown. He also said that, although the country was likely to have reached level one in September,

staging the tournament might not be possible as the current league programme was likely to stretch beyond October.

Should staging the tournament become possible this year, this edition will be the third one.

Eight teams from Tshilamba and the surrounding areas took part in the first two editions of the

tournament. Teams that took part in the tournament last year were: Thengwe Flying Peace, Tshandama Try Together, Phalama Young Vultures, Mulodi Young Santos, Lukau Hot Aces, Mulodi Freedom Birds, Tshilavulu Elite and Tshishivhe FC. Tshilavulu Elite lifted the trophy last year. They beat Tshandama Try Together 4-3 in the final.

Lockdown delays Mhlongo’s deal with Lidoda Duvha

By Frank Mavhungu The relationship between Black Leopards and their midfielder, Joseph Mhlongo, is most likely to remain intact after the expiry of the player’s current contract with the club. Mhlongo’s contract with Lidoda Duvha will expire at the end of this month.

According to the player’s agent, Mr Ratshibvumo Mulovhedzi of Rush Hour Sports Management, negotiations with Leopards are at an advanced stage.

Mulovhedzi revealed that he had held several meetings with the management of Leopards during the past months. He further stated that they could have sealed the deal with the club already, had it not been for the national lockdown after the outbreak of the coronavirus in the country.

According to him, holding follow-up meetings was difficult for the two parties after the pronouncement of the lockdown towards the end of March. He repeated that Black Leopards had come up with an offer about three weeks ago. Mulovhedzi

indicated that, after they had looked at the offer, it became clear that Black Leopards were serious about retaining the player.

The ecstatic Mulovhedzi also stated that he would make time and travel to Thohoyandou in the coming weeks to meet the management of the club. He stated that he was confident that both parties would append their signatures during the meeting. Mulovhedzi also stated that several PSL clubs had shown interest in the player.

He stated that he had not signed a pre-season contract with any club as he wanted to give Black Leopards first preference. Mulovhedzi further stated that both the player and his company had enjoyed their relationship with Black Leopards over the past three years.

“Black Jesus”, as he is affectionately called, joined the Thohoyandou side on 1 July 2017 on a three-year contract.

The chairman of Black Leopards, Mr David Thidiela, said that they had done their part as a club and that they were waiting to hear from the player and his agent.

According to him, Kapinga had a bright future in football because he was only 25 years old.

When asked about his prediction regarding the teams likely to face the chop at the end of the season, Eymael said that he found speculation difficult. He stressed the fact that Black Leopards would not be one of them, though.

Asked why he had decided to part ways with the club after a short spell, Mr Eymael revealed that the matter was confidential.

When asked if he would consider going back to Black Leopards if the club came up with a job offer, the outspoken coach said that anything was possible in football.

The Musangwe tournament that was scheduled to take place on Youth Day (16 June), was postponed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The chairperson of Vhembe Traditional Entertainment Organisation, Mr Patrick Ramarada, said that they had postponed the tournament for fear of spreading the disease, because the sport is a contact sport. He added that they would wait for the government to lead them about what to do.

According to Ramarada, Musangwe has more to it than meets the eye. “This a sport that teaches respect among men. Boys are prepared for their future roles here, and we are also ensuring that the sport and our culture do not fade away,” he said.

“Most of our fighters have potential to make it in boxing, and we are encouraging them to follow boxing careers and not end up only as unpaid fighters. There is a lot of money in boxing. We are hopeful that we will soon produce a world boxing champion from this area and follow in the footsteps of the likes of former champion Philip Ndou,” said Ramarada.

PSL team for Tshakhuma on the cards

Following the announcement by the president of Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC (TTM), Mr Masala Mulaudzi, that the club’s GladAfrica Championship franchise had been sold, Limpopo Mirror has received numerous calls from concerned supporters and football lovers in general regarding the future of the club.

Mulaudzi announced that the club’s status had been sold to a Sekhukhune-based businessman. He revealed that he would use the money to supplement the procurement of an Absa Premiership franchise. After the announcement, Mr Mulaudzi remained tight-lipped regarding his intention to procure the elite league status.

His silence prompted football fanatics to

speculate that the man was taking them for a ride and that he had no plans to procure an Absa Premiership franchise. When asked to shed some light on the latest developments in his plans to buy a premiership franchise, Mulaudzi appealed to the fans to be patient for just a little longer.

He said that he was also receiving countless follow-up telephone calls daily from concerned supporters who wanted to know if he had not raised their expectations for nothing. He revealed that the process to purchase the Absa Premiership franchise was at an advanced stage and going public about the situation was just a matter of time.

He reiterated the fact that the process was at an irreversible stage. He restated that he would not have sold the club’s GladAfrica

Championship status if he were not sure of his next move. Asked about the name of the Absa Premiership club he was buying, Mulaudzi said that it was too early to disclose it.

He further stated that the two parties were working on the final touches of the sale agreement. According to him, disclosing the name of the club before they could seal the deal would have some far-reaching legal implications. He concluded by saying that the two parties would issue a joint statement regarding the sale agreement in a few days’ time. · The past weekend, Sunday newspapers named the team in question as one of the oldest in South Africa, the Johannesburg-based Bidvest Wits Football Club. A selling price of R20 million was rumoured as being required to clinch the deal.

TTM finally sold to Simon Malatjie

By Frank Mavhungu Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) have finally, officially sold their GladAfrica Championship franchise.

According to the former president of the club, Mr Masala Mulaudzi, the buyer took over the ownership of the club with effect from Monday, 1 June. Mulaudzi was earlier quoted as saying his wish was to see the franchise bought by a resident of Limpopo Province.

Fortunately for Mulaudzi, the buyer resides within the borders of this province.

Mulaudzi revealed that he had sold the club’s GladAfrica Championship status as a matter of urgency, so that he could use the money to supplement the procurement of an Absa Premiership franchise.

Asked about the selling price, Mulaudzi revealed that the buyer had parted with

R10 million. He was initially quoted as saying the selling price for the club’s franchise was R10 million for residents of Limpopo and R12 million for non-residents. “He bought the franchise for R10 million simply because he is a resident of Limpopo Province,” said Mulaudzi.

When asked why he had decided to sell the club’s franchise while the team was still on course for promotion, Mr Mulaudzi stated that he was aware of that fact. According to him, waiting for the end of the season to see if TTM would gain promotion to the elite league would mean they could lose everything if they failed to get promoted.

He said that the owners from whom they wanted to buy the Absa Premiership status wanted to get rid of the franchise as a matter of urgency.

“Imagine if we did not opt to buy the

Absa Premiership status now and TTM failed to gain promotion at the end of the season; we could have lost everything,” he said.

Mr Simon Malatjie, the man who bought the TTM franchise, is no stranger to the football industry. He is the owner of the ABC Motsepe League side African All Stars FC. African Stars are campaigning in the Gauteng Stream of the ABC Motsepe League. Although most of his businesses are in Gauteng and Mpumalanga, Mr Malatjie originates from Polokwane. He is in the construction industry.

The club will continue to use the name TTM until the end of the season. Malatjie revealed that he would rename the club African All Stars FC and that the team would use Polokwane’s Seshego Stadium as their home ground.
