THE HARR FAMILY

INSIDE THE COVER

W

hen Heather Harr entered the cover couple contest by uploading a picture of her and her husband, Ian, she just thought it would be a fun thing to do since her husband was deployed. Days later, a few Facebook notifications and a couple of shares with her friends and family, Heather and Ian’s photo leaped into first place. Our couple’s tale is a modern one. Heather’s younger brother and Ian met in tech school and introduced the two through social media. They immediately felt a connection and began an online relationship that grew over the next year until, in June 2010, they decided that meeting each other in person was necessary. The connection was as real in person as over the Internet and the two began flying back and forth to see each other every few months. For Heather, it was imperative that her three children feel as comfortable with Ian as she did. It didn’t take much for them to realize that everyone was very comfortable as a family and they were married by December 2010.

“When I saw him with my kids, I knew,” says Heather. “They clicked and it was like he was meant to be there. The day we got married, he looked at me and said, ‘It’s December. We need to go Christmas shopping. What are we getting the kids?’ Here we are on our wedding day, and his first thought is the kids. It was like he was supposed to be.” The Harr family hasn’t been hit too hard with deployments, having dealt with three in their nine years of marriage. The first deployment after four years of life together was the most difficult. During this time the Harr’s learned that distance simply caused the heart to grow fonder. Now deployments are a little easier because they know that when Ian returns home, life will fall right back into place. Ian was deployed at the time of this interview. When he returns, Heather will have a weekend stay waiting for him and the family to use to relax, rejuvenate and recharge at Wateree Recreation Area.

THE FOUR P’S IN GOLF

T

here has been much written about the importance of how to hold a golf club. Throughout history, there have been excellent players who have held the golf club in many different ways and played brilliant golf. Over the next 4 issues of the Take 20 Magazine, Carolina Lakes Golf Course would like to provide practical advice on how to grip the golf club properly while applying the 4 P’s principle: placement, position, pressure and practice.

JUNIOR

While coaching players, the most common mistake PGA Pros see is players gripping the club in their left hand through the palm of their hands. We suggest holding the club through the fingers. This will allow a suitable wrist hinge and increase power while striking the ball.
