s a New Zealander, I don’t take having a warm home for granted. Like many Kiwis, I grew up being told to put on another layer of clothing while my family huddled around a radiant bar heater on winter nights. How is it that being warm in our homes was ever considered a luxury? Maybe it’s something to do with our hardy pioneering roots. Whatever the reason, I’m excited to say that changes are now in place to make our homes warmer and healthier! In this issue, we delve into the impacts of the H1 Energy Efficiency changes in the Building Code. These changes are guided by the vision of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment to build healthier, more energy-efficient homes as a response to climate change and to keep up with international standards. Our homes in this issue combine striking design with breathtaking views.
