Creating Winners from India Samantha Kochhar appointed Deputy Chief Expert for Hair by World Skills International India did well comparatively on the world stage and the fact that Samantha has got recognition from the world body is a clear indicator of her talent and training skills. Speaking about this appointment, Samantha Kochhar, said “It is a great honour to get the position of Deputy Chief Expert World. I am very grateful to my Chief Expert and the World Skills Team for choosing me for this post. I feel privileged to be representing my country on a World Forum. When you are part of the Skill Management Team you are technically getting the whole competition going so for me it will be a huge learning experience. India is being recognized on an International platform and this only empowers me to create more winners for India.� As a representative of the Indian Hairdressing Community in the World Forum this is surely another feather in the cap of the Indian Hairdressing Industry.
In what is a matter of great honour for the Indian hairdressing community, renowned hair designer and make up artist, Samantha Kochhar, has been appointed the Deputy Chief Expert Hairdressing by World Skills International. It is for the first time that the Hair Dressing Category India Skills has secured this title amongst 67 countries. This inclusion in the world body, will see Samantha Kochhar being a part of the World Team in organising and conducting the World Skills Hair Competition to be held in Abu Dhabi in 2017. Also, Samantha Kochhar from India is the first person, amongst all the other Asian countries, to have been chosen as the Deputy Chief Expert Hairdressing by World Skills International. The World Skills International sent Samantha Kochhar, a congratulatory note informing her of her appointment. Last year Samantha was the Technical Expert of Hair Dressing Skills for the World Skills 2015 Competition and trained the Indian competitor.

United We Stand Prabhat Academy’s 16 year old student Charmi Sen won gold and Hemendra Ved won silver in the BWSSC regional competition (west zone) in hairdressing category for world skill competition (2016) and will now naturally qualify for national competition. What is indeed remarkable is both these young teenage talents are not from Mumbai or Delhi, where the largest talent pool of Beauty and Hair dressing exists, but from a small town like Udaipur. And the one person who has put Udaipur firmly on the India Beauty Map, and also perhaps on the world map, is Ashok Paliwal. New Age Salon& Spa decided to have a tete a tete with him, to unravel the journey from the small town of Udaipur to the world centre stage. Here is a report.

Celebrating Global Wellness Day
Rekha Chaudhari, India’s well known spa expert has taken spa wellness and wellbeing to another level as the brand ambassador of Global Wellness Day. While stress is a vital part of life, promoting a positive outlook to life and living well, the Global Wellness Day sought to redefine the concept a better and healthier life to all. A special day to focus on the physical and spiritual aspects of wellness. Rekha says “As everything that is precious to us has been honored with a special day, why is it that we don’t have a special global day dedicated to the only thing which is really valuable to all of us, that is, living well? We can now answer this question by saying “it now exists”. This special day is called Global Wellness Day. With the slogan “One day can change your whole life,” we celebrate Global Wellness Day on the second Saturday of June every year as an international day dedicated to living well. This is

At the CIDESCO National Conference held on the same day all the 300+ beauticians present took the pledge I Say Yes! with Ms. Chaudhary. Earlier a press conference was held to officially announce the Global Wellness Day. Tourism Minister Mr. Ram Shinde, Ms.Smita Thackeray, Mr. Vinod Kambli, Ms. Maya Paranjpe, Mr. JC Kapur, Mr. Sangram Birje, Ms. Shibani Kashyap and Dr. Meghna Shah were present at the flagging off ceremony.
