President’s Report I’ll start by saying happy new year to all club members and their families. Hope you all have had a great break and wellearned rest. Well were back into the swing of things when it comes to the club and its activity’s.

job of telling the poor non club kids to wrack off from Santa, thanks Lois for that job!). The Hot Rod show would have passed by now and thankyou to Don, Michael, Ross, and Tarik for placing their vehicles on the club display and I hope there was an award amongst them. Also David had his Nomad on a single display and I’m hoping with the recent mods he completed may have given him an award as well. Thanks for all who helped in not only the set up but also the packing up of the displays during the weekend.

The Chev Convention is striving along quicker than most anticipated with plenty of us flat out organising and promoting the event . I have to say cheers to previous organisers in our club for arranging the event because there is so much more things to organise than I originally thought and if we did not have the committee and the likes of a few talented members, this event would not have worked in the past. We are still lacking entry forms from club members which I thought was a bit poor but as history tells us that the members are always the last to commit. So please everyone send the forms and the moneys to Jeff in Benalla so we can get an early feel for numbers.

All of you would have received an email by now about up and coming events which will be a regular thing in the future to work with the sms system we have used in the past. I’ve had good feedback already from this and as I said in the e-mail it is for events and runs only( It’s not going to replace the newsletter or monthly meetings!).

We also have Convention raffle ticket books available if any members could sell them with some great prizes so if you need a book of 20 or 50 at $5.00 a ticket, give Jeff Wilson a call and I’ve got a limited amount as well.

If anyone has not received the e-mail can you please get in touch with me so I can update the details. It was a nightmare trying to update the registry which myself and Lois have been working on so please in the future if there’s a change of address,e -mail,phone number postal/living address, or wife can you let Lois know for updates. This will be updated regardless of changes yearly so the

The xmas party was a great day and there was a great turn out on the day. Thanks once again for all who helped and I’m already looking forward to the next one ( just not the The Hot Ones

President’s Report workload is minimised.

for contents requirements, jam job it, and sign wright it in our club logos to ensure its ready for the next summer and xmas party. I’ve already started the task of looking for items and donations to build and fit out the trailer from club members and allow there Company name or work to be advertised on the trailer as a result. We have a few ideas for storage, towing, and we will put it to members at a up and coming meeting for any other ideas, anyway enough of the trailer.

The presentation night is on next week so I hope you all have booked with Lois for our night of nights with no shorts (myself and Steve really hate that rule!) which once again will be a funny and fun night as they are. I know there hasn’t been a lot of attention paid to runs of late but I assure you a few of us have ideas planned after the Convention. We are looking for volunteers for the May mystery run or any other ideas for runs, so contact myself or Lois if your keen!

Can I urge all members to get behind the club for the Convention. There’s has been a lot of work to promote it in Ballarat and we want to give Ballarat a great event for all to enjoy. Just a quick report and that’s about it for another month.

And now for the big announcement! We have a club trailer. I know there’s some criticism when it comes to this subject but it time to organise the clubs assets a bit easier. The bbq’s, gas bottles, tent, table, and everything else we need on outings will have a home together finally. A big thankyou to Greg Bayliss member number 57 (he likes that!) has donated to the club a 6x4 in good nick in which he said he doesn’t use anymore. During the winter months myself and other members will be working to box it up ,shelf it

“Drive ‘em hard”, Greg Rowe.

Our sympathy goes out to Karl, Barb & all the Wakartschuck family on the loss of Karl`s dear Mum, who passed away on New Years Day. Karl, our thoughts are with you from all your friends in the club. The Hot Ones

January 2013

The Hot Ones Hi Members So, what the hell happened to December’s Newsletter, I hear you all asking? Well, fair question I say... Let’s start at the beginning (if it wasn’t true and didn’t happen to me, I don’t think I’d have believed it myself!) At the November committee meeting, I think we finally decided on a method that would ensure there were no more hiccups with the delivery of the newsletter, and I was quite pleased about that, just quietly. So, what happened? A few things! First up, and almost too unbelievable to believe - the printer, who had faithfully promised me the week before that they would be able to turn it around in 2 days, well, didn’t. At 5pm on the Wednesday (after Bob had already left for the meeting), they called to tell me it wasn’t ready, and in fact it hadn’t even been prepped for printing yet.. So, when did they think it would be ready? Hmmm, hard to tell, but tomorrow should be right. OK I said, call me when it’s ready to collect. Did they call on the Thursday? Hah! Not on your life... Try the FOLLOWING Thursday! OK, very late... Pretty frustrated at this point, as I know Rowie was already fielding calls from some of you wondering what was going on... But wait, there’s a set of steak knives in it here that’s Not All That Happened! Oh No, when Bob rocked in to collect our newly minted, colour edition of the newsletter, what did he find on the cover? A very lovely pink pickup... Ah, wait, that’s November’s edition! According to the printer, that’s the file I sent them... “NOT ON YOUR LIFE” says Bob in his sternest possible tone... “Check your email”. “OH” says the printer, “We’ve printed the wrong month”... I kid you not! I couldn’t make up a story this good! Not only was the printer, hmm, 10 days late at this stage, but he’d printed the wrong month... So back to the presses they went, and A WEEK LATER (still not kidding!), the correct newsletters were finally in our possession. BUT THAT’S STILL NOT ALL! From there, well, it became beyond a joke really, Rowie calling, you lot frustrated as hell... Then man-flu hit! But, finally, the newsletters made the post, and you all (with a few exceptions I know about) got to read your newsletter with your Christmas lunches... Oi! So, for January, we’ve changed printers, a local chap, no Office Centres, no franchises, an honest-to-goodness, self-employed real person without “someone else” to blame if something goes awry... Let’s hope this relationship lasts longer than the first, lol! And from me, an honest-to-goodness apology. Sometimes things happen that we can’t control, and I am sorry that you all got stuck at the end of the mud pile that was the December newsletter. {And I hope that I never have to write anything like this ever again!}

Have a great month, Juli The Hot Ones

2013 Hot Rod Show We all met at the Exhibition Building on the Thursday around 2:00pm hoping that that would be early enough to get the cars in before the venue started to fill too much. The group included Rowie, David, Karl, Ross, Tarik, Michael Bujega, Don Neal, and Bob.

were a 57 coupe, blue and white which took out a few awards, but at the reported build price of $350K I guess you'd expect that. There was also a fresh 56 and 57 coupe which Rowie was right onto, making sure the owners were aware of the upcoming Convention.

Over the course of the weekend we took turns in coming in to the show and dusting down the cars and topping up the Convention flyers (which lots of people seemed to be picking up). Rowie made it in on the Sunday with his family and repreKarl had been busy during the week picking up all the club display gear and checking everything sented us at the presentation. On the Sunday most of us gathered there would be right on the day, so it was a matter of unpacking everything, rolling out the floor cover- around 3:00pm and sat around on the lawn ing and positioning the cars.
