President’s Report Well its almost been a year in this role with the club and I’ve enjoyed almost every minute.
The Cruden Park run was a great success (Full write up in this newsletter, thanks Stevo.) which I could not attend due to the Mighty Hawks playing on the same day but as I heard all the club members had as much fun as I did! Thanks to Lois for arranging the day.
I did say in one of my reports that give me time and I’ll get better at being head of the meetings but I think at times I’m getting worse (so I do apologise to all). The last meeting was a good turn out and we had a special guest speaker Bruce Frazer. If you don’t recall the name he was the man with the pictures, signs and models at our convention this year. The reason for this appearance is that Bruce and his daughter, are putting together a car show at the Hungarian Club on the 16th of October, and has asked us for support as a club to attend. As Bruce is a supporter of our club (he also said he feels like a part time member but will join when he gets a Chev which we will hold him too!) and seems to be a good bloke I think we should get behind him and support this event, with the proceeds going to charity. Anyway more on that as it gets closer.
Another run was the May Mystery run around the peninsula which I attended in a Mitsubishi Lancer ( Payden needs the hrs on L plates!). A great day had by all and well organised by the Peterson Family and once again a write up is in this newsletter, Thanks Mr Liston. Just a reminder to all members that Hawthorn is on top of the ladder! The Tatura run is on over the weekend of June the 15th-16th which will be great fun and Graeme and Judy Drew along with Jeff Wilson have organised the weekend so don’t miss out, and if anyone needs info give Jeff a call. The last thing I want to talk about is the AGM.
As we all know this is where we elect the next committee to take on the role of running the club for the year ahead. The positions are in this newsletter and all positions are up for grabs. I went in blind and had a go, with a great committee and members behind me and offering advice and help, I’ve completed a year. What I’m trying to say is anyone can hold a position on the committee and if any member wants to have a go have a think about it for a month and come to the The start on the club trailer isn’t far away (which I July meeting and put your hand up! Fresh ideas have made a vow to see this item completed to and enthusiasm always comes from fresh faces the finish) and for the members who have offered and its good for the club and its members. to donate parts we will be collecting soon. We will Anyway that’s about it for this month, and go get together a list of needs as we progress during Hawks! the build and will put the businesses who donate “Drive ‘em hard”, parts, on the trailer with the Convention sponsors (still hoping to have it ready for the xmas bbq). Greg Rowe. The A-frames need a revamp if anyone has any ideas. We need the club emblem on the design and must be on a pdf format to send it to the printer to enlarge to a poster size at a low cost, so if anyone is bored this winter start designing and submit so we can collect and decide at the monthly meeting. Maybe we could make this a competition with a prize! Hope you all are getting your club e-mail event updates which I’m trying to send out each fortnight. I know a lot of what’s listed is repeated but some people don’t read them all the time (do you Michael Foreshore Kendall), so the idea of this is so none of us miss out. But please don’t reply to these e-mails as I’ve continually asked. If you want to send me a e-mail send it direct to me or via the club email address.

What do you think of it (If you managed to get one!)? Do you think hoodies would be a good option to add to the Club’s merchandise store? Personally I do - but voice your opinion too - as members, every voice counts... so Speak Up!

May Mystery Run The May Mystery Run of 2013 was a great success. For Heather & I, the day started in sunshine, but as we got closer to the Frankston starting point, the rain set in. Over 40 people enjoyed the extensive list of questions and directions which took us up to Arthurs' Seat, down to Flinders and back to Hastings where we all enjoyed hot crusty pies and cocktail franks for lunch in a warm cosy club room at the Blue Scope Recreational Centre. No-one got all the questions answered correctly and importantly, no-one got lost! David & Virginia Desira won the most correct answers, Bill, Kerin & Shelly Duyvestyn came second while Karl & Barb came last and were awarded colourful ties and funny noses, which you wear on your face Karl! We would like to thank not only Steve & Lois, but their family as well, for organising this fun annual event. It was great to see such a large group with so many children and young people enjoying the day as well, even if the weather didn't clear up until it was home time. Peter Liston

Cruden Farm Run On a drizzly Sunday morning we headed off to Karingal Hub for our cruise to Cruden Farm in nearby Langwarrin. Love the rain – don’t have to wash the ’57 & it looks really shiny! There we met up with Albert & Carol in the ‘48 Coupe, Michael & Vicky in the ’52 Ute, Shane & Jo in the ‘55, Peter & Heather, Pauline & Lenny, Kathy & Don ‘The Toolman’ in their ’56 Sedans, Bruno & Chris, David & Virginia and Steve & Lois in their ‘57’s. The weather had improved and we left for Dame Elizabeth’s place (Big cruise - it had to be at least a ‘Kay’ away) It took longer to get up the driveway than to get to the property! Just as we got to where the cars were being directed to park in a plain old paddock, which is fine for Mustangs, Mini’s & Rolls Royce’s, the organiser came over and said “Follow me, I’ve got a special place for you Tri-Five folks” and he did - a nice spot near trees & the lake. Unfortunately later in the day a pelican must have perched in those trees and dropped the world’s biggest bird-shite upon Dave’s Nomad, it must have been asked to pick out the best car there! There was plenty to see for both the car & the garden enthusiast while we wandered around Cruden Farm. There was a very diverse range of cars, European, British, Aussie & American, ultra expensive Rollers, plenty of early Holden’s, the usual herd of Mustangs, even cars that aren’t sure if they are English or American like the Chrysler powered Jensen Interceptor and of course some beautiful Chevrolets. The old Mansion and the surrounding grounds with the lake, huge trees and plenty of grass areas make the Farm a great place for a day out. Why, you can even smell the roses (Phew - is that what the smell was!) The massive trees made a great sheltered spot to set up a few chairs when the wind got a bit cool & a couple of showers passed over. As the day wore on a lot of the crowd had departed for warmer places, this gave David a chance to park his Nomad at the lake edge to get some great (I hope) photos. Funny thing is that the car had been there all day but once he moved it it seemed to attract another crowd. Soon we were on the road home and another good Chevy Cruisin’ day had come to an end.

Lois’ Lines Thank you to all those that attended our May Mystery run this year. It was a great day & members commented how good it was to be fed hot pies for lunch. Seeing we had the facilities I thought it would make a nice change. XXXXXXXXX A few of us girls have been thinking of having a nice stylish club shirt so we have been checking out what is available. Any girls that would be interested in purchasing one when have made a decision please let me know. zzzzzzzzzz ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS are now available at $65. There are a lot of savings to be made through using the vouchers. A great gift for someone &&&&&&&&&& You will certainly be needing a club jacket to keep you warm this winter. They are available for $140. Please ring me before a meeting so I can bring one along for you. ++++++++++ We are looking for a venue for our FANCY DRESS night to be held July, August, Sept. If you know of a suitable hall please let me know or if you have a big garage that would hold around 30 to 40 that would even be better
