Almost 20 years after the recognition of the dangers of climate change, cities have become the protagonists of 21st century developments. By 2050 the world's population living in urban areas is expected to exceed 70% of the total. My research follows in a critical way the approach used by the program "100 Sustainable Cities" (100RC). 100RC supports the adaptation and integration of the cities in order to achieve resilience in the face of both unexpected crises and the chronic pressures that on a daily basis wear down their urban fabric. I explore this problem based on the specific characteristics of the city of Volos, presenting the good practices already realized in global and other kind of cities, on analyzing the modern challenges concerning resilience. My work leads to a plan of resilience for the city of Volos, which includes the formulation of a vision and of a set of concrete proposals about the strategic renewal and actions to be taken on our path towards 2050.
