HK），今年重新規劃並更名為「香港巴塞
爾藝術展」（Art Basel HK），跟享譽國際的「邁阿密海灘巴塞爾藝術展」以及於發源地 舉行的「巴塞爾藝術展」齊名，這說明了甚麼？是的，香港的藝術市場又被看高一線。
Art is beloved by people of all ages. From the rubber duck that made a splash at Victoria Harbour to the larger than life House of Treasures at the West Kowloon Cultural District, whether it is a duck or a pig, a private or public function, the arts culture in Hong Kong is no doubt booming with limitless possibilities. The critically acclaimed Hong Kong International Art Fair (Art HK) has a brand new identity known as Art Basel Hong Kong. Held in conjunction with the internationally beloved Art Basel Miami Beach and launching its inaugural show, Hong Kong’s Art industry just keeps outdoing itself for the better.

The event will also feature five diverse sectors including Galleries, Insights, Discoveries and Encounters. Even though Ar t HK has made a historical mark in Hong Kong’s Ar t culture, contrar y to popular beliefs, the debut of Ar t Basel HK is not meant to replace the historically significant Ar t HK, but instead to continue its legacy in promoting the best of the Ar t world. Magnus Renfrew, the ar t director of Ar t HK since 2 0 07, will continue to lead as director of Ar t Basel in Hong Kong. Not only will Ar t Basel respect fully retain the distinct local flares of Ar t HK, it will also include a spectacular range of international galleries and ar tistes, grooming Hong Kong as the leading plat form for the Ar ts on the international stage.
The Encounters sector will be under the charge of Yuko Hasegawa, who is Chief Curator of the Museum of Contemporary Arts in Tokyo, and has also previously curated the Sharjah Biennial 11. Talking about not straying too differently from Art HK, she also curated for Art HK projects back in 2012. In Encounters, 17 large-scale sculpture and installation works will be featured. China’s Qin Chong’s Losing, a large paper installation painted with soot, India’s artist Jitish Kallat’s Circa, a 120-part scaffold bamboo sculpture and Japan’s Takuma Uematsu’s enchanting Noosphere are a few art works that will be showcased. Near the end of the art fair during the 23rd to 26th of May, Art Basel HK will launch an Art Unlimited sector in June. This year’s Art Unlimited sector will be curated by Gianni Jetzer, Director of Swiss Institute in

New York. A total of 79 of museum art pieces will be exhibited, including artistes such as Carl Andre, Gina Pane and Lygia Clark.
