Hong Kong co-working and events space company theDesk continues to put a spin on conventional co-working with its expansion into the bustling Causeway Bay community. To celebrate the launch, theDesk is thrilled to invite you to the opening of our beautiful new workspace​ ​at​ ​One​ ​Hysan​ ​Avenue​ ​on​ ​8th​ ​December​ ​2017. ______________________________________________________________________________ (Hong Kong, 28 November 2017) — theDesk does co-working differently. Established in Hong Kong in June 2016, the company is on a mission to build inclusive community across the city’s diverse​ ​neighbourhoods. theDesk bringing people together, building valuable relationships between members and the local community. The company’s unique take on co-working broadens networks and deepens trust, fostering greater business outcomes for all stakeholders. The expansion begins with a beautiful and​ ​well-designed​ ​workspace​ ​at​ ​One​ ​Hysan​ ​Avenue,​ ​spanning​ ​5,077​ ​square​ ​feet. The opening marks the beginning of accelerated growth for the theDesk. After only one and a half years, its award-winning​1 space in Sai Ying Pun reached 80 percent occupancy. To date, the workspace​ ​at​ ​One​ ​Hysan​ ​Avenue​ ​has​ ​already​ ​secured​ ​40​ ​percent​ ​occupancy​ ​pre-opening. theDesk’s vision and inclusive community ethos is shared by landlord, Hysan Development Ltd. The corporation has established a close partnership with theDesk to build on the impressive work done in Sai Wan and bring the experience to the Causeway Bay community. As well as One Hysan Avenue,​ ​theDesk​ ​opens​ ​a​ ​sister​ ​site​ ​at​ ​Leighton​ ​Centre​ ​in​ ​early​ ​2018. 1


An​ ​Inclusive​ ​Community​ ​Beyond​ ​the​ ​Space theDesk is proud to be a homegrown company, deeply rooted in Hong Kong. While other co-working communities focus on benefiting paid members only, theDesk champions community building​ ​beyond​ ​the​ ​border​ ​of​ ​its​ ​physical​ ​spaces. The diverse profile of members includes small medium enterprises (SMEs) working in education, non-profit, media, design and technology sectors. In addition, theDesk welcomes many multinational corporations (MNC) that include transportation, technology, event companies and more. theDesk is known for welcoming underrepresented sectors of the working population, such as mumpreneurs, NGOs and local artists. This is an ethos that supports​ ​business​ ​growth​ ​and​ ​enables​ ​people​ ​to​ ​extend​ ​their​ ​networks​ ​across​ ​the​ ​neighbourhood.” Designed​ ​for​ ​Productivity​ ​and​ ​Flexibility To create the new workspace at One Hysan Avenue, theDesk has partnered with multi-award winning firm Ida & Billy Architects. The design brief was to create a bright, tranquil and uncluttered space. “People want and need privacy to be productive,” says Oscar Venhuis, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer. “A tranquil, well-lit space enables our members to focus on what matters most — getting​ ​their​ ​work​ ​done.” In line with the company’s name, the interior emphasises the subtle line of the luxurious desks. “The desk height is a design narrative that runs throughout the space, as seen by the consistent heights​ ​of​ ​the​ ​black​ ​edges​ ​of​ ​desktops​ ​and​ ​black​ ​lines​ ​across​ ​the​ ​office,”​ ​Oscar​ ​explains.
