VOLUME 23 ISSUE 44 Nov 3
from your Pastor
DR. ED M. LAURENA
I praise the Lord for another month He has entrusted to us! I am excited because this is our Missions’ month. In the past, we usually held three consecutive nights of Missions’ Conference; but this time, we decided to have a whole month- Missions’ emphasis instead. Thus, I encourage you to be faithful in every church service, to be attentive to every preaching and to value more the importance of supporting and sending missionaries, both local and abroad. Let us be challenged to be more zealous in spreading the message of missions, which is the saving Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. There would be no CBBC, San Pedro, and perhaps we would not be reached with the Gospel if it were not for missions. I also would like to express my appreciation and commendation to every member who attended and involved in our Pastors and Sunday School Workers’ Conference this past week. Personally, I was blessed by the preachings and sessions. It is indeed a privilege to accommodate several pastors and members from different churches and be a help in challenging them to “rise up and build.” By God’s grace, let us pray that our church’s influence will encourage us and other churches to be more faithful in God’s service. Let us have a great Sunday and a blessed Missions’ month!

Church Bulletin Building for Eternity through the Pastors and Sunday School Workers Conference
T
HE CHALLENGE of Nehemiah's statement in 2:17 “...Come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem that we be no more a reproach” prompted the people to decide in verse 18, “...Let us rise up and build...” It was a decision backed up by a determination when they strengthened their hands for this good work. The same challenge was presented to the people of God during the 3-day Pastors and Workers’ Conference last October 28-30 which our church hosted. Attended by about 500 members from more than 40 fellowshipping churches within the country and across Brazil and the Thailand Outreach, the event was indeed a call to stand fast and continue building in the faith that would not flinch in the face of a compromising society. It is a call for self-evaluation as God's children to be fervent and zealous in the service and worship of Him Who is LORD of Lord and KING of Kings. In the Scriptures, building is almost always used in reference to decision to obeying Christ. Pastor Gil Laurena, the main speaker, repeatedly emphasized “God blesses decisions that reflect His character, promote justice, and ultimately bring Him glory”. The preachings and divided sessions have been designed to accomplish such in the hearts of God's people. The Lord has wrought a great blessing upon us to receive and use such a remarkable occasion to challenge and move us to a deeper level of spirituality and work in the ministry of the Lord. May we continue to build our infallible faith, our genuine service, our precious unity, and our ardent burden for the lost and dying world all for the sake of Christ and for God’s glory! GOD deserves our best. Through our NEHEMIAH PROJECT FOR GOD'S GLORY, we can give our best. Let us continually fulfill our commitment by His grace. Aside from our commitments, let us drop some coins in our Sunday School class basket, as an extra investment for this project.
Thankful for

Missionaries
few decades ago, a missionary was working hard at spreading the Gospel in China. Impressed by the advances he was making with the Chinese government, the Standard Oil Company offered the missionary a weighty sum of money to work for them in developing a branch of the company in China. The missionary promptly turned them down. Shocked, the company doubled their offer, giving him a sum of money that would draw even the strongest of people to consider the life of luxury it could offer. Again, the missionary refused the job. Puzzled, the company asked him what it was he wanted. "We can't offer you any more money." The missionary replied, "The money's not too small; the job is." If your church is like ours, each year we have a Missions Conference. Missionaries come, meet the church family, and present their vision for their field. But do you realize what revered servants of God these people are? These people are willing to inconvenience themselves for the sake of the Gospel. These are the true heroes of the Christian faith. God has called us all to be missionaries. He has called us all to "declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people." Yet God calls many Christians to travel to other parts of the world to spread His message to people who have never heard. Missionaries are the cream of the crop of Christianity. Thank God that His servants are willing to face difficulty so that others can hear of salvation. As "homeland" missionaries, we should be willing to do two things for missionaries. First, and most importantly, we must pray. Each day, we should pray for missionaries. Our missionaries face situations we will never facewars, famine, hostility, government opposition, and paganism. They need our prayers on a daily basis. Second, our missionaries need our financial support. Without the funds of God's people, missionaries wouldn't be able to continue ministering. As our economy has downturned, the economy of many mission fields have downgraded worse than our own. It is so important that during this time of difficulty, we continue our giving to missions. Spend time thanking God for missionaries who are traveling to the ends of the earth so people can hear of Christ. If you don't already, I would encourage you to pick up a list of missionaries from your church and begin praying for them on a daily basis. Pray for God's protection, provision, and working in their land. Never forget the great sacrifice of these heroes of the faith.

Quotes about Missions
"I have but one candle of life to burn, and I would rather burn it out in a land filled with darkness than in a land flooded with light" — John Keith Falconer "God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply" — Hudson Taylor

Scenes and Paul
e Paul was perhaps one of the greatest travday. He visited many lands, and saw many es in different countries. When he returned good deal; his Epistle were widely read by churches. And yet, in all the writings of the ere is not one line that is descriptive of the the countries through which he passed; not e architecture of his day; not a line describ-
eason for it. The apostle was “blind.” As he ll else but one thing. On the way to Damass, He was blinded by the vision of His great uld see nothing but Him and tell of nothing
"The Great Commission is not an option to be considered; it is a command to be obeyed" — Hudson Taylor "The spirit of Christ is the spirit of missions. The nearer we get to Him, the more intensely missionary we become." — Henry Martyn, missionary to India and Persia "He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose" — Jim Elliot "In the vast plain to the north I have sometimes seen, in the morning sun, the smoke of a thousand villages where no missionary has ever been" — Robert Moffat, who inspired David Livingstone "If a commission by an earthly king is considered a honor, how can a commission by a Heavenly King be considered a sacrifice?" — David Livingstone "Some wish to live within the sound of a chapel bell; I wish to run a rescue mission within a yard of hell." — C.T. Studd "We talk of the Second Coming; half the world has never heard of the first." — Oswald J. Smith "I remember one who spoke on the missionary question one day saying, "The great question is not, 'Will not the heathen be saved if we do not send them the gospel?' but 'Are we saved ourselves if we do not send them the gospel?" — Charles Spurgeon "You will never make a missionary of the person who does no good at home. He that will not serve the Lord in the Sunday school at home, will not win children to Christ in China."
Go Ye, But How Far? According to the latest available statistics the ratio of Protestant missionaries to population in strategic world areas shows: 1,448 Ministers per million people in the United States. 56 Missionaries per million people in Africa. 30 Missionaries per million people in South America. 20 Missionaries per million people in Korea. 15 Missionaries per million people in India. 3 Missionaries per million people in Indo-China. Moreover, much of Europe with its 480 million people is largely unevangelized. And virtually all Communist-controlled countries are closed to missions work.
The “Son” Is Always Shining "For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ." (2 Corinthians 4:6) An average person in the face of the Earth is almost always affected by weather. Most people tend to feel happier and calm when the weather is sunny and calm but feel sad and despondent during an overcast sky. For others, it is the opposite case. They feel bleak during fair weather and joyful during torrential rains. Each individual is different. However, it is worth noting that no matter what the skies may look like, the sun is always shining. Indeed, the sun is always shining above the clouds. We may not see the sunshine; but it is always there. Even during night time, the sun is shining on the other side of the earth. Somewhere, at any time, the sun is always shining. For parallelism and illustration's sake, the sun in our solar system represents the Lord Jesus Christ. The Sun radiates its own energy and light. Likewise, Jesus Christ is the Light (John 8:12). He is The Only True Light and none other. His Word teaches us what to believe and live by so that we will never be in darkness. The Bible is our Light. As wise believers we ought to purpose in our hearts
to anchor ourselves upon the Word of God as we keep in mind that THE SON IS ALWAYS SHINING ABOVE THE CLOUDS! Indeed, Jesus never fails! So then, we must love God's promise in Hebrews 13:5, "...for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." Knowing this truth should cause us to love God enough as to want to live a holy and righteous life, to please God, and to walk closer with Him day by day. No Christian can become closer to the Lord apart from the Word of God as John 1:1, 14 exhorts. Therefore, we must live by our Bibles, thinking about Scriptures throughout the day. Scriptures refer to God's people in Matthew 5:13-14 as salt and light, "Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.” It is so wonderful to be a Christianto comprehend the truths of God's Word, to know that Jesus lives within our heart, to know that our sins have been forgiven, to know that Jesus Christ shed His blood to take away our sins, and to know that one day we will be with the Lord.

Bible Reading
4. Ibahagi sa iba si Kristo Hesus.
