Staff yn y sbotolau Staff in the spotlight

Beth yw'r rhan fwyaf buddiol o'ch rôl bresennol?

Mae'r Iaith Gymraeg wedi chwarae rôl flaenllaw yn fy natblygiad personol a phroffesiynol dros y blynyddoedd, ac felly byddwn yn dweud mai'r rhan fwyaf buddiol o'm rôl bresennol yw cael y cyfle i arbrofi a rhoi cynnig ar offer a phethau newydd, er mwyn rhoi cyfle i ddysgwyr ymgysylltu ag adnoddau arloesol a chreadigol yn eu dewis iaith. Wrth gynnal ein Hadolygiad o Gwricwlwm ACT, rwyf wedi gallu arddangos fy nawn greadigol, drwy gynhyrchu adnoddau ffres ac effeithiol ar gyfer ein sectorau, a hynny â’r nod o ysgogi technegau a syniadau newydd ar draws darpariaeth ACT. Er mai cynnar rydym yn ein proses adolygu, ysgogi a chreu, rydym eisoes wedi gweld staff yn mynegi eu cyffro am ein dulliau newydd a'r gefnogaeth a roesom eisoes.

What is the most rewarding part of your current role?

The Welsh Language has played a key role in my development over the years. I would say the most rewarding part of my current role is being given the chance to experiment and try new things, in order to give learners the chance to engage with innovative and creative resources in the language of their choice. While conducting our Curriculum Review, I have been able to showcase my creative flair, in developing new and bespoke resources for the routes, inspiring new ideas across the ACT provision. Although we may only be in the early stages, we are already seeing staff express their excitement for the fresh approach and support given from the Curriculum Team.

Dywedwch ffaith ddiddorol amdanoch eich hun.

Mae cerddoriaeth wastad wedi chwarae rhan yn fy mywyd. P'un ai ar gyfer ymlacio neu fwynhau, rwyf wedi bod yn chwarae'r piano a chyfansoddi ers cyn co’. Rwyf bob amser wedi bod â ‘chlust da’ wrth allu chwarae unrhyw gân, ar y piano, ar ôl gwrando arni unwaith. Rwy'n siŵr, wrth ddweud hyn, y bydd fy nhîm yn rhoi hyn ar brawf!

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.

Music has always played a part in my life. Whether it’s been for relaxing or enjoyment, I’ve been playing the piano ever since I can remember. I've always had an ear for music and have always enjoyed being able to play any song by ear, after listening to it once. I'm sure, in saying this, my team will obviously put this to the test!

I ble mae'r lle gorau rydych chi wedi teithio iddo?

Byddwn i'n dweud mai'r lle gorau i mi deithio iddo fyddai Efrog Newydd ar daith gyda’m hysgol. Roedd yn brofiad anhygoel, er imi fynd ar goll, ar ôl peidio â chlywed ble’r oedd ein man cwrdd cywir. Dilynodd â’m henw yn cael ei alw ar draws y system sain yng Ngorsaf Ganolog Fawr!

Where is the best place you have travelled to?

The best place I’ve travelled to would be New York on a school trip. It was an amazing experience, except the part where I didn’t hear where the teachers said for us all to meet up after food and ended up having my name called over the tannoy system in Central Station!

Beth oedd yr albwm olaf y gwrandawoch arno?

Ar ôl ymuno â Thîm y Cwricwlwm, mae fy mlas cerddorol wedi’i ehangu'n llwyr! Fel arfer, buaswn yn gwrando ar siartiau’r radio, ond ar hyn o bryd mae gen i obsesiwn â chaneuon gan Gregory Porter a’r Smiths. Dw i hefyd yn euog o fwynhau gwrando a chanu i Sianti’r Môr gan Wellerman.

What was the last album you listened to?

After joining the Curriculum Team, my music taste has really been broadened! I usually listened to the top 40 charts on the radio, but I’m currently obsessed with songs by Gregory Porter and The Smiths. I do also have a slight guilty pleasure listening to that Sea Shanty remix by Wellerman.

Beth yw'r swydd waethaf i chi ei chael erioed?

Gweithiais mewn siop manwerthu yn ystod cyfnod prysur y Nadolig... byth eto! Er hynny, dw i bellach â gwerthfawrogiad mawr i unrhyw un sy’n gweithio yn y sector manwerthu!

What’s the worst job you’ve ever had?

Working in a retail environment in the gear up to Christmas. Never again, ha ha. Mind you, it has given me a new-found appreciation for anyone working in the retail sector!

Sut ydych chi'n hoffi treulio'ch amser pan nad ydych chi'n gweithio?

Rwyf bob amser wedi caru anifeiliaid, ac yn mwynhau ymweld â'm chwaer i weld ei chŵn, Tilly a Teddy... er na fyddwn i'n eu galw'n gŵn mewn gwirionedd, maen nhw'n debycach i dedis bach! Rwyf hefyd yn mwynhau ymweld â'm ffrindiau ac yfed â bach gormod ar gymdeithasau rygbi, er rwy’n amau na fydd hynny’n bosib am sbel! Dw i wedi ymdrechu i gadw'n heini yn ystod y pandemig, ond weithiau mae’n ormod o demtasiwn mwynhau diwrnod diog, yn gwylio Netflix neu Disney+, yn enwedig yn y tywydd oer a garw!

How do you like to spend your time when you’re not working?

I've always loved animals, and enjoy visiting my sister to see her pups, Tilly and Teddy. Although I wouldn’t really call them dogs, they’re more like little teddy bears! I also enjoy visiting my friends and having one too many on rugby socials, although I doubt that will be happening for a bit, ha ha! I have strived to keep fit during lockdown, but sometimes it’s too tempting to have a lazy day, bingeing Netflix or Disney+, in this dreary weather!

Fy nghyngor i’m cydweithwyr fyddai cadw mewn cysylltiad, gan siarad â’ch gilydd a gwneud yn siŵr eich bod ar gael i gwrdd am bwt bach bob dydd. IE!

Rwyf hefyd yn mwynhau ymweld â'm ffrindiau ac yfed â bach gormod ar gymdeithasau rygbi, er rwy’n amau na fydd hynny’n bosib am sbel!

Beth fyddai eich cyngor cyflym i’ch cydweithwyr?

Yn dod o gefndir addysgu, mae'n fy nharo pa mor bwysig ydi iechyd meddwl a lles a sut y dylai ddod yn gyntaf bob amser. Byddwn yn dweud, yn enwedig o dan ein hamgylchiadau presennol, fy nghyngor i’m cydweithwyr fyddai cadw mewn cysylltiad, gan siarad â’ch gilydd a gwneud yn siŵr eich bod ar gael i gwrdd am bwt bach bob dydd. Does dim byd gwaeth na theimlo ar eich pen eich hun mewn swydd neu’n teimlo na allwch droi at eich cydweithwyr. Er fy mod wedi bod yn gweithio o adref, dw i wir yn teimlo’n rhan o Dîm y Cwricwlwm a theulu ehangach ACT, ac mae ffocws mawr y cwmni ar ofal, iechyd meddwl a llesiant staff wedi chwarae rhan allweddol yn hynny.

What would be your top tip for colleagues?

Coming from a teaching background, it’s really brought home how mental health and wellbeing should always come first. I would say, especially in these current circumstances, my top tip would be to keep in contact, talk to each other and make sure to reach out and speak to your team daily. There’s nothing worse than feeling on your own in a job or feeling you can't turn to your colleagues. Although I’ve been working from home, I truly feel part of the Curriculum Team and the wider ACT family, and the company focus on staff wellbeing has played a key part in that.

Mae'n stori am bŵer gwleidyddol a diwydiannol, adnewyddu economaidd a diwylliannol - a chenedl o botensial sy'n ymddangos yn ddiderfyn. The Story of Wales is a vibrant portrait of 30,000 years of power, identity and politics. Revisiting major turning points in Welsh history, from its earliest settlements to the present day, Jon Gower re-examines the myths and misconceptions about this glorious country, revealing a people who have reacted with energy and invention to changing times and opportunities. It's a story of political and industrial power, economic and cultural renewal- and a nation of seemingly limitless potential.
