Make way for the new while honoring the past “Notice how the trees do not cling to their leaves. Fall is about releasing the old to make way for the new.” (Author unknown)
A
utumn is the perfect season to be reminded that there’s strength in letting go. But, as we age and as time passes memories lodge in our minds that e will always remember. What a lovely balance we can work toward by letting go of some things while holding on to others – like sweet memories and good times. The first day of fall is September 22. In every season of life, I hope you find memories that are important to you, and likewise find ways to leave behind ones that hold you back. We all can do it from some degree, but if this juggle is a struggle for you, I encourage you to be strong and committed to positive thinking. In this issue of Legacy, we are sharing a lot about these ideas. Cheree Albert delivers a great message in her article this month about remembering life’s sweet moments and shares ways to celebrate National Assisted Living Week 2018. She reminds us to take time to remember the good moments and enjoy them. What is fun to you? What’s important? It’s time to celebrate what you love with Cheree’s theme of “Capture the Moment.” “Today’s moments are tomorrow’s memories,” she writes. How will you capture yours? Vickie Pleus provides us with a wonderful article on Caryn and Lewis Long of Lake Helen, Florida, and their passion to preserve history. This month’s Legacy article is focused on preserving our heritage and honoring our roots. Caryn reminds us that knowing our history helps us not repeat the mistakes of the past and better prepares us for the future. Wise words that are simply timeless. In this issue, you’re also sure to be delighted with helpful articles about Medicare scams, how hospice works in assisted living communities, how to take a trip to Ireland and Scotland, and the ins and outs of preserving moments from your history through today’s technology and much more. Finally, we wish you a Happy Assisted Living Week! Aging Tree is proud to be able to expand our services to seniors and their families. Just give us a call at 1-866-320-8803 about anything related to senior care or services and we will help guide you. Aging Tree is a great place to start. Remember: Don’t cling to your leaves. Release the old and make way for the new. A new season awaits! Make your days great…you’re in charge of them.

Travel Smart: The Ins and Outs of River Cruising
H
ave you seen the advertisements on TV or received a mailer sent to your home from a river cruise company named Viking? If so, then you’re one of the million Americans ho is part of a multi-billion-dollar marketing campaign promoting European River Cruising…and the offers often leave those interested wanting more details. So here they are: the ins and outs of river cruising. Did you know: Viking isn’t the only river cruise company? They’re an extremely well-known cruise line that has won many awards, but
Knowing the answers to these questions and more can help focus you down to the best fit for you. Take me for example: I’m a major foodie/wino traveler who prefers sticking with regional cuisine and drinks. I prefer active adventures and love to participate in wellness programs like sunrise yoga, but often travel with friends, family, and clients who need a slightly slower tour. My husband doesn’t drink at all and could care less about wine, but he does care about being nickeled and dimed while on the cruise. Knowing all of this, my preference of cruise line is AmaWaterways, plus they have
they’re not the only line out there! Before you plan your first river cruise, be sure to do some research as to the included features, cost, and rankings. What questions are important to know the answers to before you book? • Are you a foodie or wino? Maybe a beer connoisseur? • When you stay in hotels do you prefer the Hampton, Ritz Carlton, or boutique hotels? • Do you like more active adventures, or prefer a gentle walker’s experience? • And of course, what is the budget?
less passengers on their ships, even though they’re the same size as Viking’s long ships. On the other hand, I have a client who prefers only boutique hotels, going to museums and art shops, and they like to drink gin and dark beers. When traveling, they prefer a bit of the local flavor, but also like comfort foods from home. Their activities focus around very cultural and intellectual experiences. Less is more to them in terms of passengers on a ship, and they prefer having everything included, even gratuities so they don’t have to worry about who to tip and

By Amanda Vallone when. For this client I recommend Uniworld, not only because their ships are literally a floating work of art with elegant accommodations, but the family-owned cruise line pulls scratch-made recipes right from the family cookbooks. Then there are my travelers who want a little less décor and more free time. They like to go off and explore on bikes or self-guided walking tours and enjoy the inclusions of gratuities and luxury of a butler. And their scotch on the rocks is always poured just right. They not only like the all-inclusive
price up front, but they enjoy many exclusive to them experiences and the cutting-edge space-ships. For these travelers I recommend Scenic Cruises. Are you one of those people who wants to be the first to everything and going with the most noteworthy and popular company? I recommend Viking to you! Viking is everywhere! Even the Viking buses that bring river cruisers to their excursions are logoed. Also, going on a Viking River Cruise allows you and other Viking goers one of the priority spots in terms of docking privileges. |6|
Speaking of docking privileges, aside from asking questions to figure out one’s “travel type,” I like to make sure future river cruisers know and understand the details of the river cruise experience. Ever heard of rafting? More often than not, a river cruise ship will pull up to their docking port and there will be 3-4 other ships already there. The common practice in this scenario is to link the ships together and the passengers will walk through the other ships. Rafting is a unique river cruising experience. And it’s something I like to make sure my river cruisers know about. While everyone is out on their tours, I wouldn’t recommend planning to stay on the ship and hang out on your balcony. Picture this: your ship is the 2nd in a row of rafted ships... This means you’re the meat in a ship sandwich. You’ll literally be able to step out on your balcony and shake the hand of
the person in the cabin across from you. I’m not sharing this information to scare you, but just so you’re aware. I certainly recommend this experience! It’s quite possibly the best way to see Europe. On a river cruise ship, deck 1 holds what I lovingly call “swan view” rooms. This means you will have a wide, thin window that begins about 4.5 feet up the wall (above shoulder level for me). It’s so high because if it was any lower you would see the river water (not exactly the ideal view). The view from this cabin is water, swans if lucky, and when docked, you see the dock (i.e. cement). Deck 2 tends to be the main deck for balcony cabins, which allow you to see the scenery as you sail by, but it’s also where the tour guides, cruise managers, and front of house staff work from. And deck 3 is where the suites, gym, and spa are most often, and on some ships it’s also

where the sundeck is. On others it’s up one more floor. The type of cabin you choose can make or break the cruise for you, as can the type of itinerary. I’m always happy to help with sharing more information, getting better deals, and helping you focus the best river cruise for you. I always say to go with friends; it makes the experience so much better. I’m planning a Christmas Markets river cruise in 2019, if anyone is interested in going with some locals. And if you’re into group trips, we have several more, including the Aging Tree Adventure to Scotland and Ireland. Though it’s not a river cruise, it will surely be an amazing experience. LEGACY
Preserving History, Serving Others: The “Long” Way Meet the Longs. They come from an extensive line of “mover and shaker” ancestors who charted their courses through the generations by serving the
community in elected leadership positions, preserving historical sites, and by keeping records of the notable impact all of this made along the way. Historic preservation, genealogical recordkeeping and leadership roles represent the threepronged strategy the Longs and their ancestors have employed to give back to their community through the generations. This passion for protecting the integrity of the past drives Lewis and Caryn Long to serve their be-
loved community of Lake Helen, a 4.6-square-mile town in West Volusia County, Florida, which is home to the Longs and 2,700 others. It’s safe to say only a fraction of those residents have a stake in Lake Helen the way the Longs do, though. Theirs is a love affair that’s dated back more than a century. Around the world and home again The Longs met at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio in 1984, where they were single officers in the same Air Force squadron. At one of the Commander’s monthly officer gatherings, Caryn needed a dancing partner, so Lewis made a move. Love blossomed between them, and Lewis proposed not long after. The couple married in January 1987. They have two adult sons – Clark, an Afghanistan veteran and a recent graduate of Stetson University who will soon be attending the International TELF Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia, and Chase, also a Stetson graduate, who’s a U.S. Marine Corps Captain stationed on Long Island, N.Y. Lewis Long was born in DeLand and graduated from Stetson University in 1970. His post-graduate career led him into the United States Air Force as a chaplain and director of pastoral care on bases from Mississippi to Germany. The Longs have lived full-time in Lewis’ family’s ancestral home

By Vickie Pleus, APR, CPRC in the Lake Helen Historic District since Lewis’ retirement from the U.S. Air Force in 1992. When they retired from military service, they decided to “just come back home to Lake Helen.” A founding family and ancestral home Lewis was born in 1941 in DeLand. Caryn was born nine years later in Washington D.C. Her family relocated to New Market, Maryland when she was an infant. Lewis knows more than most about his ancestral heritage, and
he’s uncommonly tied to preserving it, too. He’s a member of one of Lake Helen’s founding families: The Bonds. His great-great-grandfather E.W. Bond was a friend of Henry DeLand’s and one of the early settlers in DeLand. E.W. Bond built the first railroad in Volusia County and operated the Eber W. Bond Lumber Company in Glenwood. |8|
employees to supply the United States government with enough lumber to build cantonment buildings on various military installations during WWI. The Bonds also had a brick factory. M.M. Bond’s two brothers, Frank and Robert, founded the Bond Sandstone Brick Company that operated next to the lumber mill. They obtained a patent for a unique Sandstone brick – brick that was used to build the
in 1888, the home is one of the “winter cottage” treasures that’s been extremely well preserved in the town. The 3,100-foot historic home cost $4,000 to build and is valued at 750% of that today. “There’s 110 years of family accumulation in this home,” said Caryn. A walk through the cozy three-story illustrates it well. There you’ll find letters, photographs and antique furniture that are treasured and known in detail – where they came from, their age, and who left them behind. Sifting through 100-plus years of documents in his Lake Helen home has unearthed truckloads of treasures Lewis has donated to local genealogical societies. great-great-grandfather on his mother’s side was a U.S. Senator. Lewis served on the Lake Helen City Commission in late 90s and early 00s, and continued leadership positions on cityrun advisory boards such as the Lake Helen Historic Preservation Board, where he serves as Vice Chairman. In similar fashion, his brother has earned elected office locally, too. The passion for leadership extended to Caryn’s side as well. In Maryland, Caryn’s mother was active in the Hospital Auxiliary and her father served on the local school board during school integration. Lewis’ mother was a multi-time school board member, too. Caryn’s grandfather was responsible for the first airmail service in his position as Assistant Postmaster General in Washington, D.C. “When people want to know why Lewis and I are so interested in history, it’s because we lived it and it’s part of our family stories,” said Caryn. “We are so fortunate that we know a lot about our families,” added Caryn. “You have to know where you came from before you can know where you’re going.” The Longs value elected public service and see the benefit, but they encourage interested candidates to investigate their motivations. “It’s not unusual for a neighborhood controversy to pull someone in (to politics),” said Lewis. “But I think you do have to have a passion, but not a passion for a single issue. Some people have gotten elected just based on a single issue. It needs to be more than that.”
“These days you wonder why people enter politics,” said Caryn. “Don’t do it for the vanity, don’t do it for the money. Do it for something you have a passion for.” Historical Society stalwart supporters How to the Longs put this passion to work? They give back the way their ancestors did. They’ve adopted that legacy as their own. Lewis and Caryn have been members of the West Volusia Historical Society for decades. At the Society, Lewis has portrayed his grandfather M.M. Bond in historical skits, and Caryn’s cemetery chats and “porch talks” are part of her ongoing volunteerism at the Society. Caryn recently won the coveted Volunteer of the Year award, too. “Lewis got me into the West Volusia Historical Society because of our family history,” said Caryn, who joined the movement full force upon her retirement from the Air Force Reserves in 2003. “We started going to meetings and such to know more about the history. When it came time to find somewhere to volunteer, I decided this was something I wanted to do.” A legacy of preserving legacy The U.S. Census reveals that 900 people move to Florida Every week. They know little about its history, and they’re far from having roots of their own in the Sunshine State. Not only have the Longs honored the history of Lake Helen and West Volusia with their contributions through history, they also honor the future of the

communities through their commitment to leadership, community involvement and heritage. They’ve stayed connected no matter where they lived. “I had the roots and the connections to West Volusia County, but I had the experience of living all over the world in the Air Force. I had the best of both worlds,” he said. “Knowing the history of your community makes you realize that you’re not the first person here, that other people have been here, and that other civilizations have been here,” said Caryn. “Know history so you will not repeat the mistakes of the past and can go forward. If you don’t know history and don’t know mistakes made in the past, you’re going to repeat them.” “Get involved in your community,” added Caryn. “Serving others through your passions is a wonderful way to start.” Have you considered what your legacy will be? nother reason to celebrate! The opportunity to age gracefully and live well can happen in a variety of ways and locations. This month, September 9th – 15th, is the annual celebration of National Assisted Living Week. Established in 1995 by the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL), National Assisted Living Week provides the opportunity for residents, their loved ones, staff, volunteers and the surrounding communities to recognize the role of assisted living in caring for America’s seniors and individuals with disabilities. The timeless theme of this year’s celebration is “Capture the Moment”. Many seniors battle isolation and loneliness as they age. This can lead to a host of undesirable outcomes including a negative impact on their mental, emotional and physical health. To inspire assisted living residents to enjoy the present while still celebrating the past is indeed a precious goal that we can all support. At a time of life when it
can appear as though present circumstances are largely out of our control, the simple act of asking: What is fun and meaningful to you? and How can we celebrate this? are questions that will yield a wealth of conversation and opportunity. The NCAL also offers a few suggestions for how to accomplish this including: • Asking residents to draw or paint a self portrait or a key moment in their lives and displaying these in an “art gallery”. This would be a great activity to involve children and other family members anytime of the year. • Asking residents to supply an old photograph of themselves for a game of “Guess Who” with prizes for the most correct guesses. • For couples living together in assisted living a date night, perhaps dinner and a movie could be arranged. Consider engaging family members or volunteers to record interactions via the written word or video. This is precious time that family members and others can share. Celebrating the defin-

You are never too old to fulfill a lifelong dream and “Capture the Moment” reminding us to live life to its fullest. Asking residents to share something they have always wanted to do offers the opportunity to see if it is possible to make that “bucket list item” a reality. Make a connection with those who have a heart to serve in the community and let them know of the request. There is no better time than the present. Also consider partnering with organizations like Second Wind Dreams (www.secondwind.org ) which focuses on making elder dreams come true. Last, but not least, we have the opportunity to celebrate the caregivers who consistently go above and beyond the call of duty. These dedicated caregivers understand that it is about the
little things every day that make all the difference. The conversation about how to celebrate our assisted living residents provides an opportunity for us all, at any age, to be reminded of the need to fervently celebrate the past and intentionally enjoy the present. Capturing the moment of everyday interactions also deepens bonds, enriches lives and improves care and that is something we are all honored to support. I would love to hear your suggestions for how to capture the moment! Who Will Act on Your Behalf? A Power of Attorney is an important and powerful legal document giving authority for someone to act in someone else’s legal capacity. There are two potential issues that can affect the authority of your Durable Power of Attorney document. Take a moment now and verify two things: First, if it was drafted outside of the state of Florida, was properly executed under the other state’s laws, then it may be used in Florida. However, its use will be subject to Florida’s Power of Attorney Act and other state
laws. Your “agent” may act only as authorized by Florida law and the terms of the Power of Attorney. There are additional requirements for real estate transactions in Florida, and if the Power of Attorney does not comply with those requirements its use may be limited to banking and other non-real estate transactions. Second, if it was drafted inside Florida, but before October 1, 2011, your loved ones may be prevented from using it for you when you become disabled, until your incapacity has been certified by a physician. If you execute a valid Durable Power of Attorney prior to your incapacity, it may not be necessary for the court to appoint a guardian, which can be

Hurricane Preparation While Hurricane Season officially begins June 1st, August and September are often the most peak time of year for strong storms. With last year’s devastation in Puerto Rico and the recent Hurricane Lane bearing affecting Hawaii, now is the time to make sure your Emergency Plan is in place and up to date! Temporary back up. If you use medical equipment and supplies, be sure to check the ones that use electricity to see if they can operate on batteries. Be sure to purchase batteries prior to the threat of a storm to avoid not being able to get what you need in time. Stock extra bat-

In the event of a power outage, it is vital that dependent patients act immediately to maintain power to their equipment. For this reason, it is important to identify the shelters in your area that will have back up power for medical equipment use. If you experience an outage in your home, things like your oxygen concentrator, ventilator, feeding equipment and many others will not function. Prescriptions. VITAS Healthcare
VITAS Brings Hospice Care Home to Assisted Living Facilities If you’re like most Americans, you prefer to age in place in your own home. That’s why hospice services come to residents in assisted living facilities (ALF). VITAS® Healthcare, the nation’s leading provider of end-of-life care, recognizes National Assisted Living Week: September 9–15.
Hospice care in the ALF If an individual becomes eligible for hospice care, an interdisciplinary VITAS team works with the resident, family, physician and ALF staff to implement a care plan that supports comfort, pain relief, symptom management and quality of life at the end of life. A VITAS hospice team brings compassionate care and medical
expertise to the resident’s bedside, addressing physical, psychosocial, emotional and spiritual needs.
Compassionate care from a hospice team Covered 100% by Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurance plans, patients pay nothing out-of-pocket for hospice team visits, medical equipment, medications and supplies related to the terminal illness. VITAS, celebrating its 40th anniversary, provides specialized services – including pet visits, music therapy and massage therapy – recognizes the unique experiences of veterans, and provides culturally sensitive care for Latino, Asian,
By Shanda Nobles-Miltor, VITAS Healthcare Senior General Manager Haitian, African American, Jewish and LGBTQ populations. When an ALF resident passes away, VITAS provides bereavement services and grief support to the family, staff and other residents for up to a year. If an ALF is home, VITAS can provide hospice services that enable residents to live, age and die in the comfort of their own home. In honor of National Assisted Living Week, that’s comforting to know. For more information about hospice care or end-of-life care options, call VITAS Healthcare at 866.759.6695 or visit VITAS.com.
Hospice begins with a conversation There is so much to talk about, so much to learn. What would you want at the end of life? What do the people you love want? It’s never too soon to talk about comfort, peace, dignity—hospice.
Many individuals often need help understanding the facts about hospice. In fact, many people are confused about what hospice is and how to make the most of all it has to offer.
Filled with conversation topics, our free downloadable guide addresses hospice issues. It’s a structured way to help make informed decisions about end-of-life care—and make a difficult conversation easier on everyone. Take the first step: Download “Considering Hospice Care:
A Discussion Guide for Families” at HospiceCanHelp.com.

Saving those ‘Captured Moments’ using Today’s Technology. Enjoying our past captured moments is always a treasured time whether it is a week ago or decades ago. As an example, the picture in this article is that of my mother (circa 1926 at Bear Mountain in New York). This ‘moment’ in time was only discovered a few weeks ago by my cousin in Brooklyn when she posted it on Facebook. My sisters and I was amazed at it! We did not have any idea it even existed. Here is the woman who worked with our father to shape our lives and gave us unconditional support in anything we did. Her picture as well as many other family pictures, video and audio are now part of

our family tree and visible to anyone who wishes to visit the tree. Today’s technology offers us a way to ‘digitize’ images like mine as well as others we want to preserve for future generations. We can now share these moments among the entire family by placing them in a ‘cloud’ or on a ‘thumb drive’ – and yes, on Ancestry as well. Working with multi-media is not as hard as you think. For instance, getting pictures from your phone, camera or tables can be as simple as plugging in a USB cable between your device and computer then copying the media to your PC. If that seems like a lot, you can even take your device to CVS, and they can help you with everything.
SEPTEMBER 2018 | ONE-STOP Senior Care | Aging Tree.com • 866-320-8803
By Christopher Theodore I mentioned the ‘cloud’ earlier so before we go any further, let’s define just what a ‘cloud’ is – no, it’s not in the sky, it’s another computer located remotely from you. It has lots and lots of disk space, and for most of your pictures, it is the safest place to put your multi-media. Some are free to use, and if you go over your allotted amount, you will incur a charge. The main point here is to get started digitizing everything you want to perserve as soon as possible. Just like our memory, pictures fade over time, and we do not want to lose any of those precious moments. One last thing is, ‘no one is ever gone from us as long as we remember their name’ and pictures help us do just that! Your Physical Health The Doctors at Alpha Medical Group Offer a Safe, Effective, Painless Solution to Erectile Dysfunction and NOW Vaginal Atrophy INSIDE ADVISOR
Erectile dysfunction (ED) can interfere significantly with a couple’s intimacy—not to mention the toll it takes on a man’s mental and emotional health. Until now, men have had few options that work well, and many of those options can be painful. A medical breakthrough, The SwissWave Protocol at Alpha Medical Group, has proven to be the holy grail of ED treatment: a painless, no-needle procedure that actually works.
The SwissWave Protocol uses electromagnetic acoustical pulsed energy waves to open existing blood vessels, grow new blood vessels, and stimulate the growth of new erectile tissue in the penis. The FDA registered device for the treatment of soft tissue repair was developed in Switzerland and is widely used throughout Europe and Canada. The reality is that an estimated 70 percent of all men don’t respond to popular pills like Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra. Some get a partial erection, but that doesn’t
allow for full sexual activity. And don’t forget the dangerous side effects and drug interactions associated with those pills, which prevent many guys from taking them at all. This leaves only two other viable medical options: an injection or a surgical implant. The choice
is essentially to stick a needle into your penis before every sexual encounter or undergo surgery on the penis—with the possibility of serious complications and frequent failure rates. Get back in the game with SwissWave. For our Alpha FEMAL patients, we offer ThermiVa® and ThermiSmooth®. ThermiVa® is a non-invasive, non-hormonal treatment that uses controlled radiofrequency energy to gently heat tissue, with little to no discomfort and no downtime. When heated, collagen fibrils will denature and contract, which is believed to lead to the observed tissue tightening.
Provided by Goran Mladen
TAKE BACK CONTROL Women don't want to feel
as though they've lost control of their body - especially when it affects intimate parts of their life. Excessive stretching of the vaginal muscles is a common occurrence after vaginal birth or simply due to aging. Damage can diminish sensation during intimate activity, reduce satisfaction, and change the relationship between partners. Laxity of the skin is caused by numerous factors and no area is immune to this natural decline. ThermiSmooth® Body is performed by targeting the areas under the skin, providing a temporary reduction of cellulite. There are a series of applications over 6-8 weeks that are gentle, and patients often say it feels like receiving a warm massage. Get beach ready. Summer is here. With offices in Palm Coast, Jacksonville, and one opening soon in Leesburg, there is an Alpha Medical Group clinic near you.

QUICK TIPS
Planning Ahead
Planning Ahead Produces the Best Outcomes
By Lisa Habermehl, BSc (Kin), Director of Marketing, DuvallHomes.org
Y
ou may not have a loved one with a disability in your immediate family, but chances are you know someone who does. Since 1 in 4 Americans have a disability (CDC, 2016), planning ahead for your aging loved one with special needs, or lending a hand to an older neighbor with special needs, can help avoid a crisis. Just as people perform preventave maintenance on their cars by checking the oil, baery, res, etc. every 3000 miles, so should we periodically assess the health, fitness and safety of our own home (AARP.org/homefit) and body - including the home and body of an aging loved one in our care or friend with special needs. Opmism Can Be Denial in Disguise Feeling good can interfere with scheduling regular checkups. Don’t let last year’s posive “lube” service override this year’s squeaking “wheel”. Plan ahead. Don’t wait for weakness or weight loss to set in or for a fall to happen. Having an independent assessment by a medical professional or support care specialist can help determine if you need to prepare for a change of residence in the near future. Prepare on your terms, and help those with special needs to prepare. Three Quick Tips For Special Needs 1. Age in place safely. Have an Occupaonal Therapist determine if your loved one’s home is safe. 2. Get involved. Learn what Assisted Living Facilies and Residenal Supporve Care Services offer. 3. Get on a wait list. See what your Long-Term Care Policy offers, and if you are caring for someone with a developmental disability, contact APD.MyFlorida.com for funding eligibility.

Blood Work
Q & A!
Q: Why do I have to wait
so long when I go to have my blood work done?
A: Most of the big labs are
understaffed, have low customer service because they don't need your business. You do have a choice! For no wait times and a friendly neighborhood blood draw visit www.medartslab.com or visit their ad in this months magazine on page 29.

Cowboy Crackers and Buffalo Chicken Dip Photo Credit: https://www.onceuponachef.com/recipes/buffalo-chicken-dip.html
Prep time 15 minutes Serves 8-10
1 1/3 c Canola Oil (no subsitutions) 1½ - 2 tbsp Red Pepper Flakes (don't be stingee) 1 tsp Black Pepper 1½ tsp Garlic Powder 1 tsp Onion powder 1 pckg Dry Ranch Dressing (Zesty Ranch for kick) 4 sleeves Saltine Crackers
With new friends comes new recipes. My friend Mona, along with her sons Michael and Nathan, made these great Cowboy Crackers and Buffalo Chicken Dip! We tried them together, talk about a great combo! Bring these easy recipes to any get together and please the crowd!
DIRECTIONS: Cowboy Crackers/Alabama Fire Crackers This recipe does not require any cooking. Open one end and place 4 sleeves of Saltine Crackers standing up in a 1 gallon Ziploc bag, remove sleeves. Combine all other ingredients in a bowl and pour over the crackers. Remove as much air as possible out of the bag then seal. Turn bag frequently to coat all crackers. Wait at least 1 hour before serving. The longer they marinate the spicier they are! Prep time 30 minutes Serves 8-10
2 (10 oz) cans chunk chicken, drained 1 (8 oz) package soft cream cheese ½ cup Ranch dressing ½ cup Frank's Red Hot Buffalo Sauce 1 ½ cup three cheese blend Green onion/a few for flavor
DIRECTIONS: Buffalo Chicken Dip
Drain the chicken and shred in a bowl In separate bowl mix cream cheese and Ranch, add Franks (add more to taste), chopped green onion and 1 cup shredded cheese Mix in with the chicken Bake 350 for 20 minutes, with about 10 to go sprinkle with remaining cheese and green onion
