CATCHING UP WITH CURT AHRMA continues to gain momentum as race entries have increased across all disciplines and total memberships are up 453 since the beginning of the year. This is welcome news coming off a challenging COVID year! July has been a busy month for the Comers, starting with a Trials School for AHRMA members at our property in TN taught by six-time National Champion Ryan Young. The following weekend I participated in the VMX national at Aztec Raceway in Colorado Springs. It has been over 40 years since I was last at this track! Next up was the AHRMA Classic MotoFest™ at Monterey (Laguna Seca) which boasted record Roadrace entries, a spectacular natural terrain VMX track crafted by trustees Kelly Shane and Rob Poole, and a popular trial designed and administered by the Ridge Runners Motorcycle Club. There were many spectators in attendance with lots of fan experience activities. Significant momentum was gained for an even bigger and better MotoFest next year on the same weekend. Also in July, AHRMA’s Cross Country riders headed to Shady Acres in Maryland for one our favorite events. Additionally, there was a Dirt Track double header in Southern California at Perris Speedway and Lake Elsinore. We are excited to once again be serving our west coast dirt track members. We welcome Jim Doyle onboard as AHRMA’s new Business Development Manager. Many already know Jim from his many years of AHRMA involvement and his leadership as Event Manager for the successful AHRMA Classic MotoFest™ in the Heartland earlier this year. Jim’s professional experience and industry involvement makes for a good fit as we position AHRMA for exciting things to come. Richard Brodock has enthusiastically embraced the initiative to reignite AHRMA’s Dirt Track program. Accordingly, he has been named DT Interim Coordinator and is leading the charge at some very high profile events gaining exposure for things to come. 8

Pastor Steve Hudson has been named AHRMA’s official Race Chaplain and is on-site at all Roadrace and select Off-Road events to care for members as needed or requested, as well as nondenominational chapel services at our events on Sundays. Pastor Steve was Race Chaplain for AMA Supercross for many years and continues to serve several prominent NASCAR teams. Although AHRMA is currently between Roadrace Directors, our experienced and dedicated staff have stepped it up to be sure our events go off in the safe and quality fashion members expect. I can’t thank you all enough for making this transaction as painless as possible for me and Dewanna. As a reminder, AHRMA is a member-owned not-for-profit volunteer based organization. Without the giving hearts of volunteers, we would not be able to provide the benefits members expect. Be sure to thank those who serve. With the MotoFest initiatives and a move toward more self-promoted Off-Road events, the task of recruiting, organizing and recognizing our volunteers has become even more important. On yet another note, even though he will be competing on a modern bike this time, AHRMA regular Fred Hoess will be competing in his 27th ISDE this September in Italy. Fred was the outright winner of the inaugural Vintage Trophy Event in 2016 riding a 1983 Husqvarna.
