Chandigarh Freeze AIESEC Chandigarh organized Chandigarh Freeze. It was an initiative to create awareness on the ban on Polythene bags in Chandigarh City. Around 150 youngsters participated in the event, in and around the city. International Interns from countries such as China, U.S.A, Canada, Netherlands, Germany and many others were present at the event. The message "Chandigarh Freeze" wanted to send across was to promote "No Poly-Bags/Green City", which was successfully done by our agents who were carrying a paper bag each and then froze together for 5 minutes at sector-17 Plaza around 4.30 p.m. Each paper bag had a line saying “Paper Bags are Cool� on it, which spread a really strong environmental-friendly message to urge people not to use poly-bag anymore. The public was really amazed by the new concept of freeze. A lot of people had gathered there. After the event was over the paper bags were distributed to general public in sector-17. Reporters from Hindustan Times and Dainik Bhaskar were there and the event was covered in the same.
What is "Chandigarh Freeze"? "Freeze" is a collective Street Art Activity and usually involves over 100 people to stand motionless for 2-5 minutes in a public place in order to convey a message to general public. "Chandigarh Freeze" is a same Activity of this kind which deprives from FREEZE NEW YORK in 2006. All kinds of "Freezes" have been conducted in over 42 countries worldwide. The message "Chandigarh Freeze" wants to send is to promote "No Poly-Bags/Green City", by then all our agents (participants) will be carrying a paper bag freeze together, sending out a really strong environmental-friendly message to urge people not to use poly-bag anymore.
