MONOGEM, AN ARTIST FOR EVERYONE

Monogem is an artist who has burst into the music industry with a fusion of R&B in English and Spanish, proving that quality music can be made for the new generations.

AL DÍA spoke with the 36-year-old singer about her expectations, dreams, challenges and projects for this new year that is coming loaded with a lot of music.

The Mexican-American artist, whose given name is Jennifer Ashley Hirsch, has been in charge of creating music for the bilingual senses of all Latinos who have decided to migrate to the United States, but this has not always been an easy task for her.

“The hardest thing for me is to find a good balance between English and Spanish, while remaining authentic and true to who I am”, said the artist, who always wants to make sure she stays connected to her English-speaking fans as well as Hispanics.

Monogem, who decided to embrace her Latin heritage from 2019 with her debut Spanish-language single Soy lo que Soy, says that for her the best thing about making this kind of music is being able to “connect with people through music”.

“The best thing about making music is when it reaches a perfect stranger and resonates with them. There is no better feeling”, the artist mentioned.

With her latest album Gardenia, the first she has released entirely in Spanish, Monogem is looking to connect with a new international audience.

For her, the best advice she can give to new artists is to always make music they like. “You are the ones who will have to perform that music for many years to come. If you don’t like it, what’s the point”, Monogem said reflectively.

On Stage At La3c

On 11th December, Monogem had the opportunity to open for Maluma at the inaugural LA3C festival in Los Angeles.

“LA3C was literally a dream. It was my first time performing on the main stage of a festival. After so many years playing in clubs and touring smaller venues, it was an absolute pleasure to be part of such a big production”, the artist mentioned, emphasizing how exciting it was for her to play songs from Gardenia on that kind of sound system.

In 2023, she hopes to continue making lots of new music, playing more festivals and shows nationwide to bring the duality of her music to more people.z

Monogem es una artista que ha incursionado en la industria musical con una fusión R&B en inglés y español, demostrando que se puede hacer música de calidad para las nuevas generaciones.

AL DÍA conversó con la cantante de 36 años sobre sus expectativas, sueños, retos y proyectos en este nuevo año que se viene cargado con mucha música.

La artista mexicana-americana, cuyo nombre de pila es Jennifer Ashley Hirsch, se ha encargado de crear música para disfrutar los sentidos bilingües de latinos que decidieron migrar a los Estados Unidos. Sin embargo, esto no siempre ha sido una tarea sencilla para ella.

“Lo más difícil para mí es encontrar un buen equilibrio entre el inglés y el español, sin dejar de ser auténtica y fiel a lo que soy”, contó la artista, quien siempre quiere buscar mantenerse conectada con sus seguidores hispanos y de Estados Unidos.

Monogem, quien decidió abrazar su herencia latina desde 2019 con Soy lo que soy, su debut, afirmó que para ella lo mejor de hacer este tipo de música es poder “conectar con la gente a través de la música”.

Agregó que “lo mejor de hacer música es cuando llega a un perfecto desconocido y resuena con él. No hay mejor sensación”.

Con Gardenia, su más reciente álbum, el primero que lanza completamente en español, busca precisamente conectarse con un nuevo público internacional.

Para ella, el mejor consejo que le puede dar a los nuevos artistas es siempre hacer música que le guste. “Ustedes son quienes tendrán que interpretar esa música durante muchos años. Si no te gusta, ¿qué sentido tiene?”, dijo Monogem a manera de reflexión.

En El Escenario De La3c

El 11 de diciembre pasado, Monogem tuvo la oportunidad de participar como telonera de Maluma en el festival inaugural LA3C en Los Ángeles.

“LA3C fue literalmente un sueño. Era la primera vez que actuaba en el escenario principal de un festival. Después de tantos años tocando en clubes y girando por lugares más pequeños, fue un placer absoluto formar parte de una producción tan grande”, mencionó la artista, enfatizando cuan emocionante fue para ella tocar canciones de Gardenia en ese tipo de sistema de sonido.

En 2023, espera seguir haciendo música nueva, tocando en más festivales y espectáculos a nivel nacional para llevar la dualidad de su producción a más personas.z
