Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) celebrates its 74th anniversary this year and yet many people are not aware of their rights and many more abuse other people’s rights.

To build fair and peaceful societies every human being has to exercise their rights fully and political leaders and the authorities have to acknowledge their importance and ensure that they are respected.

Bearing this in mind, we asked our 11th year students to do some research on the UDHR and ongoing situations of abuse all over the world. We believe it is school’s responsibility to prepare students for adult life, one in which they know their freedoms and boundaries and are committed to building a fairer and better world.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

Human Rights are the foundation for societies and respecting them is what makes the world fairer and better for future generations. Only by respecting human rights can individuals and communities fully develop.

Human rights are needed to protect and preserve every individual's humanity, to make sure that every individual can live a life of dignity and a life that is worthy of a human being. Without peace, it will not be possible to achieve levels of trust and cooperation for societies to be resilient to problems.

All in all, human rights are the foundation of freedom, justice and peace and the world would not be a safe haven without them.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

Human rights represent the basic rights and freedoms that belong to every person since they were born until the moment they die. Human rights violations are often drivers of conflict. Monitoring human rights, therefore, could provide early warning and help prevent destabilization of societies.

Each right plays a major role in the well-being of any human, so the present generations have the responsibility to identify, protect and safeguard the cultural heritage and to transmit this common heritage to future generations.

Up to this day, the UDHR has accomplished some improvements worldwide regarding the globalisation of the human rights; however, the reality shows that there is a lot that remains to be done.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

It is very important to respect the UDHR because that is what makes societies fair. However, many rights are abused on a daily basis. For example, article 25 is violated in many places leading to unemployment and poverty. Without money people cannot pay for food and housing and this is the reason why we see so many homeless people.

Furthermore, there are children growing up without going to school and people with disabilities that encounter several barriers when trying to access healthcare (attitudinal, physical, financial and communication barriers).

The examples above show how important it is to respect human rights so that all people have a dignified life.

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) was a key document in the development of human rights. The Declaration, which was written by representatives from all around the world with varying legal and cultural backgrounds, was adopted as a common benchmark of accomplishments by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on December 10, 1948. It has been translated into more than 500 languages and for the first time lays out the need for all people to have access to basic human rights protections. More than 70 human rights treaties are currently in force at both the global and regional levels thanks in large part to the UDHR, which is widely acknowledged as having cleared the path for their approval.

We believe the human rights are the beginning of peace within societies and a way to create a fairer society for future generations because all of us are entitled to certain fundamental rights just by virtue of being human. They represent fundamental principles of our society including justice, respect, equality, and decency. They are a crucial safeguard for all of us, but especially for those who might experience abuse, neglect, or solitude.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

74 years ago a document was issued. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights would become the most important document in the modern world.

It is said that even 888 months after the official publication of the final version of this declaration, its articles continue to be violated and overlooked in a large scale by a considerable part of the nations. Even so, it is known that there has been a huge effort by many countries as well as the United Nations to put an end to these violations. We welcome this effort, but we know it is not enough to make this world humane. We appeal to everyone to rise up against the injustices of the globe and to demand to be treated as

they really are, Humans.

To all those who fight for human rights, thank you, and we are hopeful that one day the world will become free and more humane.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

In our opinion, this celebration is essential to the beginning of peace within societies because we think it will help to create a fairer and better world. This day also represents the people who suffer from human rights violations by trying to free them from this cruelty.

Although Human Rights Day has been celebrated for seventy-four years, it has not changed the world completely. This lack of changes, mostly in the poorest countries, can compromise the future generations, due to cultural backgrounds and poverty, which may help explain the reasons why some violations still occur.

To sum up, we believe that this day, even though not very relevant everywhere, is still very important to show that everyone must have access to human rights equally.

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

The theme proposed this year for cooperative work was the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This work aims to raise awareness for the importance of human rights to build fairer societies.

With such projects young people become aware of the need to defend human rights to have a dignifed life individually and collectively. Countries’ laws should embbed the principles of the UDHR so that the rights of every citizen are respected and not abused.

This is the XXI century and there have been huge improvements, but despite this, there are still violations and abuses, which is why the school and the media are so importante not to let this happen.

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

Human rights have played an important role in the development of societies, as they protect people against atrocities and promote respect and mutual understanding between people all around the world.

Human rights are key values in our society, such as mutual friendship, dignity, equality, fairness, humbleness, loyalty and respect. Inspired by the spirit of human rights some countries have issued laws aimed to block evil acts, such as torture, slavery, discrimination, either because of gender, race or nationality, just to name a few. Human rights also help people build respect, so they can become more responsible citizens.

This means that new generations are going to grow in a fairer, more respectful and more peaceful environment.

We can therefore conclude that human rights are the means to achieving better and fairer societies.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

Human rights apply to the whole world, but there are certain regions in which they are not so well accepted. Thus we cannot ensure that everyone enjoys their inalienable rights.

The articles were established in order to create a just society for present and future generations in which everyone respects each other and accepts the different ways of living. Human rights consist in how human beings should live individually and in society, guaranteeing fundamental rights such as life, liberty, health, social security, as well as the right to defense and fair trial to anyone who is accused.

In conclusion, the proclamation of human rights was a very important step, but the promise of peace and equal opportunities remains unfulfilled. We must guarantee that human rights are enforced everywhere to make the world a better place.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

The UDHR is a document that establishes the rights and freedoms for all citizens. It was meant to promote peace and create a fairer society for all, present and future generations.

It is said that respect of human rights is the basis of a peaceful society, hence the need to establish fundamental rights. These rights would give people the same opportunities, despite their different backgrounds.

However, the UDHR is not being respected, leaving some people unfairly treated, especially in developing countries. If the rights were fully enforced, we as a society would live in a fairer world where all citizens would be treated equally, where there would not be any discrimination against minorities.

In conclusion, the UDHR would guarantee peace and order for everybody if societies acknowledged and enforced its principles, which sadly is not happening at the moment.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

The Human Rights Day celebrates the 74th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). Over seventy human rights treaties have been adopted and are applied globally and regionally today as a result of this document.

Human rights are indispensable to a peaceful world. Still, they are often perceived as an obstacle in many places, which results in recurring abuses.

As the world faces new challenges – pandemics, conflicts, exploding inequalities, bankrupt global financial systems, racism, climate change – the values and rights of the UDHR should be safeguarded so that they constitute an effective protection to citizens worldwide.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations.

It’s been 74 years since the assembly of the UDHR, one of the most important documents ever. As the time passes, each and every day violations of these rights become less common, which makes us hopeful about the future of younger generations.

Firstly, nowadays practically everyone who lives in a developed country gets more opportunities despite their race, sexuality and religion, proving that many of the articles of the UDHR are not being so often violated.

Secondly, it has improved relationships within societies, granting minorities more rights and making them feel more welcome and included in their new community, something that would have not been possible some decades ago.

In conclusion, the UDHR has helped to form better societies and a better future for everyone, and although there are major and repeated violations in many places, in general, it has bettered the world.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a document that includes thirty articles, stating basic human rights, to which everyone, regardless of nationality, gender, race, sexuality, age, is entitled.

The underlying principle is equality: no human being is superior to others, everyone is equal. In consequence, peaceful, fair, as well as respectful societies will develop, with the rights being their basis and support.

An organised and civilised society leaves room for the communities’ growth and flourishment, which will directly influence positively future generations and their lifestyle.

Before the UDHR was issued, crimes like slavery or torture would be way more frequent than they are in today’s world. Although they still exist, with the acknowledgement and enforcement of the human rights, we hope that violations will come to an end in the near future.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

In the present, the Human Rights Day emphasizes how rights are a crucial element for peace within a society, and how the UDHR can pave the path to a fairer society for future generations.

The UDHR´s main goals include fighting discrimination and striving for equality, by raising awareness and exposing any cases of discrimination. Financial and jurisdictional penalties are applied to those that do not comply.

Even though it may seem like the UDHR has had little impact on societies, there have been significant milestones in the past decades. Nowadays everyone can vote, study and work, which represents a striking development for the world.

For the future, the only thing that we can expect is that all 30 articles will be respected and taken more seriously, making the life of upcoming generations fairer and better.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

The UDHR is a document that establishes the basic human rights, aiming to promote peace and create a fairer society for present and future generations.

With these rights written down, everyone would have the same opportunities, despite their race, religion or nationality. It was thought that to have a prosperous society these rights had to be written and universal.

However, the UDHR has been violated numerous times and still is, making some people unfairly treated, usually in developing countries. If the articles were respected to the fullest, we would live in a much fairer world where everyone would be equal and have the same opportunities, no matter their background. Moreover, there also would not be any discrimination of minorities.

Margarida Gouveia,

To conclude, the UDHR would make our society much fairer and more peaceful if it were fully respected. Hopefully in the future the UDHR will be respected to the fullest.

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

The creation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights clarified a set of rights that might be easily understood by some people, but have not always be clear to the whole world.

Throughout its 30 articles, the universal and inalienable rights are identified, such as equality, freedom, the right to non-discrimination and legal protection, among many others.

This declaration allows all societies to share the same principles and values, making no difference whether we are talking about Europe, Africa, Asia or America, which is why all cultures and peoples should respect this set of principles.

Human rights are meant to make all societies fair and peaceful. However, there is still a long way to go to make all societies safe places where present and future generations can be free to make their own decisions.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

Human Rights Day aims to promote peace and justice in societies for future generations. But how will they achieve this goal?

These universal rights are inherent to us all, regardless of nationality, sex or ethnic origin. Thus, it brings justice to all members of a society. If human rights are part of a meaningful and desirable peace, then peace without human rights is less valuable or not peace at all.

If society understands what peace and human rights are, we will be able to respect both, making societies better for future generations.

Generally, we believe that respect and cooperation are essential to achieve the objectives of the Human Rights Day. Meanwhile, as individuals, we are entitled to our human rights, but we must also respect and defend the human rights of the others.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

Human rights are the beginning and the limits of a society. They embody key values in our society such as fairness, dignity, equality and respect. A society can only be considered as such from the moment duties and rights are established.

On the other hand, if there is any violation of these rights, society fails to fulfil their own principles. Therefore, it cannot be considered a society. This way, we believe that human rights are not only essential for the existence of a society but also the foundation of freedom, justice and peace, ensuring balance and equality.

Respecting human rights allows self-growth and promotes awareness of their contribution to the development of a society. Thus, the existence of these rights is essential for the creation of a peaceful and fair society, in which all its constituents are conscious of their role in it.

Áurea Barrocoso, Beatriz Sarmento, Beatriz Janes

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations.

Human rights are what protects us from the cruel injustices we may find in this world, since they are rightful to every person solely because they are human.

There are many things we cannot avoid in life, but ensuring everyone has access to these basic rights is the fundamental step to make sure that our societies, although imperfect, are based on a fair system that views us as equals. This will create a more peaceful environment for the people of this world, because it guarantees them the basic respect of their needs as people.

By assuring that humans rights are enforced, our societies will be more peaceful and more just, and overall a better place for future generations. We might not remain with them forever, but this will be a gift that they will carry on with them, when we no longer can.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

The UDHR was an important milestone in human history. It defined and utterly changed society as a whole and the way we perceive every human being. Common misdemeanors that were once legal were illegalized, rightfully so, such as slavery, racism and homophobia. Everyone, regardless of religion, race and nationality, were viewed as free citizens.

The key to a fair and peaceful society rests with the thought that nobody is above anybody and everybody has the right to be themselves, which is essential, especially when it comes to future generations.

The future of this planet lies with an equalitarian society, and documents such as the UDHR are consequential to screen the misdeeds of the world and eliminate corruption as a way of creating a better world.

Eduard Milanov, Nuno Nunes, Teresa Neves

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is beautifully written, because it contains the ingredients to a fairer society.

If everyone respected this document integrally, the world would be a more peaceful, and righteous place, where: everyone would be able to work with good conditions; nobody would be exploited by others; there would be no killing, violence or slavery; racism would not exist... etc. However, this ideal world would not benefit those in power, who thrive by using others in their advantage. Because of that, various violations to human rights have been happening all over the globe, since the declaration was drafted in 1948, and many people have been suffering deeply.

We believe that protecting and defending our rights as human beings is the way to create a fairer society for future generations, where people wouldn´t feel lucky just because they were born in some rich country where their rights are acknowledged; that would happen in any part of the world.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a milestone document that was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948 (in Paris) with the aim of defending the dignity and justice of all of us. The 30 Rights represent the universal recognition that everyone deserves access to fundamental rights and fundamental freedoms. Unfortunately, that doesn’t happen everywhere.

The fact that we are celebrating Human Rights Day reminds us of the importance of these rights to create a fair and peaceful society for future generations. However, as there is still disrespect for human rights today, it is necessary to fight for them, such as fighting for our right to freedom and security.

In conclusion, the UDHR is an inspiring document that stimulates the development of respect and peace within societies.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations.

We did some work on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and our group had to talk about article 4.

After some research, we found out that many countries, such as Sudan and Cuba violate this article as well as other articles of the UDHR. Furthermore, we have learnt that many developed countries don’t respect the Declaration, which was quite shocking, because they should be a paradigm of egalitarian and free societies.

We think that if we want to live in a global village, as the phrase suggests, we need to make an effort to guarantee that human rights are enforced and safeguarded.

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

The rights of future generations can be divided into two main categories: environmental rights (sustainable development) and bioethical rights (protection of the human condition).

Yet this is not entirely new–the concept of future generations has existed in essence since 1945 within the concepts of crimes against humanity and the common heritage of humanity.

Since 2015, we have witnessed a new wave of developments in the rights of future generations forming a groundswell–numerous cases are currently being brought to court on behalf of future generations. In 2018, the birth of genetically modified twins Lulu et Nana raised historically unprecedented questions on the necessity of protecting the human condition. This type of birth violates the dignity of children and that of the human race.

The rights of future generations represent a driving force to lead our societies towards longterm respect for living things.

Tacu, Alexandre Fernandes, Erick António

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations.

Human rights guarantee respect for life and dignity and are one of the pillars for peace in the world.

Creating a fairer society for future generations is achieved through education on human rights,

being a way of mobilizing people and empowering them with the skills they need to enjoy and exercise those rights and to respect and defend the rights of others.

The fate of future generations depends on decisions and actions taken today and should be based on the interests of present and future generations. If there are rules of conduct in the present generations, these will be passed on to future generations. The former must strive to ensure peace and thus there will be an evolution of humanity, represented in future generations.

When there are efforts for peace, conflicts are reduced and human rights are reinforced, laying the groundwork for true peace and future development of future generations.

Silva, Manuel Oliveira, Matilde Madeira, David Ferreira

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

The UDHR, assembled in 1948, by representatives from all regions of the world, consists of 30 articles that together describe the rights that all people should enjoy. There are several examples of conflicts around the world that represent a violation of these rights. The United Nations plays an important role in mediating disputes because it is only by enforcing and making sure that these rights are respected that society is able to achieve peace.

If nowadays governments and nation leaders start to build a peaceful system that respects the UDHR, with the guidance of the UN, a fairer society for future generations will be created. For instance, in 1948 it was established in the declaration that everyone should have the same opportunities regardless of gender. As a result, after many years of work, gender inequality has decreased remarkably and women have many more opportunities than previous generations.

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

Our group believes that the establishment of human rights is essential for the beginning of a prosperous society and a way to ensure fairness towards future generations.

The existence of human rights can not only allow people to work as functioning members of society, but also lets them express themselves without being subjugated. It also lets people live a fair and equal life to everyone else and, as a result, create a fairer society for future generations to live in.

Despite cases of violation to the principles of the UDHR, there is thankfully a lot being done to ensure that the rights are respected everywhere. In conclusion, human rights have to be guaranteed in order to foster the prosperity and wellbeing of societies.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

As we know today, one of the world's main concerns is the issue of human rights. These rights must be respected by all people.

Currently, there are many different NGO's that fight every day for these same rights and that also fight for us to have a better world. For us and for those who come after us.

It is very important that these topics are discussed in schools, from the youngest to university students, as these rights and duties concern us all and must be consolidated daily in order to demystify any type of prejudice or misinformation that people in cause have.

Despite a lot of struggle and many achievements, the universal declaration of human rights is still a long way from what we can call reality. As a group we believe that we need to continue fighting for these rights every day so that this declaration, which is still a dream, may one day come to correspond to truth and reality.

In short, we would like to emphasize once again the importance we have to give to these rights which have great importance and influence on the way we live individually and in society. We firmly

believe that if we continue like this, we may one day come to say that this declaration has become universal and necessary for all citizens and countries of the world.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

Human rights are a set of principles that belong to all of us simply because we are human. They recognise a number of values, such as equality, tolerance, respect and fairness, which people around the world have agreed to be crucial. Therefore, it is undeniable that, in order to create the kind of society we want to live in, free from fear, harassment and discrimination, the ideas stated by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) must be put into practice.

In fact, being aware of their right to a fair trial, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, among others, has shown to empower individuals, enabling them to take action against injustice and inequality. All in all, the promotion and protection of human rights provide the foundation for sustaining peace and sustainable development.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

The universal declaration of human rights was proclaimed by the general assembly of the United Nations on December 10, 1948, and a universal charter (1945) was signed by several countries declaring human rights, such as the right to leisure, safety, justice and work, among others.

But how are human rights the beginning of peace and a more just society for future generations? Human rights are the basis of peace and fairer societies for ours and for future generations, as long as there are rights that defend human beings and prevent abuse. Without them, there would be many more abuses.

Thus, human rights promote an understanding between different cultures and religions as well as a fairer world, especially for minority groups.

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

Human rights are the basic freedoms that everyone deserves. They were officialised 74 years ago in response to the preoccupations caused by the crimes committed in World War II. In the last few years, the UDHR, Universal Declaration of Human Rights, has established peace within societies who pledged to respect it.

The UDHR commits nations to recognize all humans as being «born free and equal in dignity and rights» regardless of nationality, gender, ethnic origin, colour, religion, language or any other individual characteristic. Recognizing that everyone has equal rights and duties, knowing that taking away any of these rights from someone is a crime that has to be punished and that our freedom ends when we cross the freedoms of others is the main step to live in peace.

The UDHR has allowed us to create respectful, open-minded and fairer societies for present and future generations.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

Human rights are the beginning of peace and a way to create a fairer society for future generations because they embody vital values such as fairness, dignity, equality and respect.

Human rights ensure people have their basic needs met, protect those who are vulnerable from abuse, allow people to stand up to societal corruption, encourage freedom of speech and expression, give people the freedom to practice (or not) any religion, allow people to choose whom to love, encourage equal work opportunities, give people access to education, protect the environment, among many other things that are vital for us to live with.

It is a known fact that we have not, yet, accomplished world peace; however, in recent decades, there has been a remarkable progress in how we view and apply human rights, so future generations may, hopefully, live in a fairer world than us.

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is a set of 30 rights that everybody is entitled to. Countries that acknowledge these rights offer their citizens better living conditions, more freedoms and happier lives.

Nations that do not respect human rights possibly have the highest crime rates, are more corrupt and are more likely to have an unjust type of regime.

In conclusion, human rights are important to create fairer and happier societies. They can also help put an end to authoritarian regimes, like dictatorships.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

In our opinion, human rights are the beginning of peace in societies and a way to create a fairer society for the future generations, which would happen if all countries respected human rights.

Currently, there are many examples of disrespect for people’s rights; for example, Qatar has been censoring activists and violating human rights, which has been more visible because of the Football World Cup.

In conclusion, if all countries respected the fundamental rights, we could create a better world and fairer societies for future generations.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

Human rights are fundamental to a peaceful society. Indeed if there were a society where all human rights were respected, all those who face abuse would be protected. Therefore to create a fairer society for future generations we should embrace gender equality and diversity, give back to the community, speak up when faced with injustice, as well as vote for policies that provide for all.

It is possible to make a fairer society if we all tried. We have to think about the future generations and not be selfish.

There are many reasons why people become refugees, one of them being war. War is horrible and it is hard for us to imagine the difficulties these people go through.

Shelter, food, work and free access to education are basic rights because they are essential to a dignified life.

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

Created in 1948, after World War II, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was the key to maintaining world order and peace. Each individual as a good citizen must respect their country’s legislation which embeds the principles of the UDHR.

Countries where human rights are acknowledged are more egalitarian and fairer, therefore giving all citizens equal opportunities - education and work – and respect.

However, in many countries worldwide violations to human rights occur on a regular basis: conflicts, wars, inequality, poverty, persecution and torture are still a reality for many.

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

The society we live in today needs to be changed and we need to start treating people the way they should be treated. Everyone has the right to be respected, according to the Universal Declaration of The Human Rights, but everyone also has to be respectful of everyone, so that we can live in a fair and peaceful society.

In conclusion, everyone deserves respect but only if they respect others. It is a right that everyone has since the moment they are born, no matter their nationality, skin color or social background.

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

Human Rights Day was created to celebrate and honor those who have fought for human rights and to inspire society to take action and use their voices to end discrimination in all shapes and forms. It can also be a day to reflect on the future and come up with solutions to make society fairer for everyone.

If we want to create a fairer society for the generations yet to come, we need to stop and think: What can we change? How can we change it? If we all live in a society and we all are human beings, why are people still being treated so poorly? Why do “we” judge others based on their race, gender, nationality, sexuality, etc...?

If the purpose is to create a “fairer society for future generations”, the challenge is how can we do that?

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

On 10th December 1948 the United Nations General Assembly approved the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). This declaration has become an extremely relevant instrument used to raise awareness about basic human rights and achieve peace within societies. These rights are based on shared values like dignity, equality, fairness, respect, and independence. They make sure that every human is able to live their lives and express their thoughts and ideas without being abused, discriminated against or disrespected in any sort of way.

The UDHR has marked a new era in human history, making it possible for future generations to achieve world peace.

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

Human rights are fundamental rights that everyone is entitled to, purely on the basis that they

are a human being. They’ve only existed formally for around 200 years. Before that, there were no real laws to ensure people were treated fairly regardless of their age, race or gender. They attempt to guarantee humans decent treatment and protection against discrimination.

All of our human rights have equal standing, and no single right is more important than another. They are also completely unconditional, they don’t have to be bought, inherited or earned, and they cannot be taken away for any reason, by any person or institution. They help protect vulnerable minorities from tyranny, making it more difficult for dictators and oppressive governments to get away with crimes against humanity.

The creation of the Declaration of Human Rights appeals to some of the strongest human desires and allows people to feel safer, happier and freer. It has allowed more focus on eradicating inequality and discrimination. There have also been many more legal documents focusing on protecting the rights of specific people, including conventions against racial discrimination, discrimination against women, and inhumane treatment. For example, human rights have enabled citizens of Azerbaijan to demand free and fair elections, including the right to peacefully protest, women to be allowed to vote and stand for elections in Kuwait and Ireland to lift their ban on abortion.

Human rights make a difference even in the smallest areas of our lives, and these are the ones that make life worth living.

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

Human rights are of great importance in today's society because there are big social differences and the UDHR can counteract this.

More and more social inequalities exist and peace in the world is essential for young people to grow up as equals and learn not to judge those who are different from them. We have societies at war, like Russia with Ukraine, Afghanistan and Syria. These conflicts violate human rights because innocent people die, get imprisoned, tortured and killed. Many others lose their livelihoods.

Therefore, it is important to celebrate the human rights because they are crucial to build a fairer world.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

In my opinion, human rights are the greatest means to achieve world peace. Human Rights Day is important to remind us of all the people who are fighting for something essential: the right for work or peace. Yet, those people are not fighting for themselves, but for their children, grandchildren and so on.

Honestly, we can see that from 2015 on people have gained more liberty to say what they think in same places, but that has also caused problems for many others. For instance, in Qatar, due to their values and beliefs, the LGBTQ community is not welcomed, and that is not right.

In conclusion, Human Rights Day is amazing in many ways and it is worth celebrating. But, most importantly, we should keep on working to fix all the problems of the world, so that the future generations will live with freedom and peace.

Human Rights Day, 10th December 2022

Human rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations

Since we were little kids, we were taught to respect other people’s rights. Now, we are able to understand why this is such an important matter. “Rights are the beginning of peace within societies”. This statement represents an undeniable truth: in order to create a fairer society for future generations, we must always respect each other´s rights: the right to be born free and equal, the right to be free from torture or slavery, and even the right to life.

However, these rights are not respected by everyone everywhere. Therefore, Human Rights Day focuses on the importance of respecting these rights, hoping that we are heading toward a fairer society.
