WINTER ART TR ANSFORMING STUDENTS INTO ENGAGED LEARNERS

Over 35 Cape Cod artists participated in Winter Art, the annual AFCC member art exhibit held at the Cotuit Center for the Arts, interpreting this year’s theme of “Sensory Overload.” In 2019, Winter Art will enter its 12th year, with established and emerging artists tackling a new theme, “Bon Appetit.” The exhibit will open in January, 2019 with an invitation-only reception and will run through February. Each year, local schools bring hundreds of students to visit the exhibit. The art is displayed at a lower height — right at children’s eye level — and some of the artists drop in to discuss their works with the students as they tour the exhibit. The visit is accompanied by a hands-on workshop in the Art Barn, where students create their own piece inspired by the exhibition.
