“If you can’t see him, look lower. God is on the bathroom floor.” - Nightbirde

I will admit to have prayed more in the bathroom than I have or will ever have in church,

have confessed all my sins and confided all my secrets, as one would to a priest, all too honestly to a toilet seat.

In the early hours of the morning during the daily reenactment of the sacrament of baptism, I am again cleansed and christened, freed and forgiven that

I seem to have the soul of a saint ascending to heaven, at least for a while until a half hour past seven.

Then, I leave for the world muttering under my breath one last prayer of wanting to start my life over when I walk out the door.

I look back one last time and watch my transgressions and tresses of pubic hair swirl down the drain like absolution. Maybe, He listens.

Maybe, God is on the bathroom floor.
