Ha frequentato l'Accademia di Belle Arti e la Facoltà di Architettura della stessa città. Dal 1957 al 1981 è stato ordinario di Educazione Artistica nelle scuole medie di Matera. I suoi interessi si distribuiscono in più campi: architettura, pittura, scultura, arredamento e design. Come animatore culturale, per tener vivo il discorso sulla problematica del recupero e conservazione dei famosi rioni materani, chiamati “Sassi”, ha organizzato una serie di mostre-documentario all'estero, cointeressando l'opinione pubblica internazionale.

De 1957 à 1981 il a été titulaire de Education Artistique dans la Scuola Media di Matera. Ses intérets concernent plusieurs domaines: architecture, peinture, sculpture, décoration et design. Dans le but de tenir vif le discours sur les thémes de la récupération et de la conservation des quartiers “Sassi” de Matera, et intéresser l'opinion publique internationale à cet habitat tout particulier, il a organisé, en animateur culturel, une série d'expositions-documentaires à l'étranger.
Biografical notes Franco Di Pede was born in Matera in 1937. He lives and works in Matera. In 1956 he graduated at the Art School of Naples. He also studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Architecture in the same city. From 1957 to 1981 he was a regular art teacher at the secondary schools in the Matera district. His interests cover various fields: architecture, painting, sculpture, furnishing and design. As a cultural animator, always intent on keeping alive the problematics involved in the recovery and conservation of the famous Matera district known as “Sassi”, he has organized a series of documentary exhibitions abroad in order to stimulate international public interest towards this unique habitat.

Er studierte dort auch an der Accademia delle Belle Arti und an der Facultat fur Architecture. Von 1957 bis 1981 hatte er den Lehstuhl fur Kunsterziehung am der Mitteschule in Matera inne. Seine Interessen verteilen sich auf verschiedenen Gebiete: Baukunst, Malerei, Skulptur, Einrichtung und Design. Um das Interesse and der Restairierierung und Erhaltung des einzingartigen habitats der Altstadt Materas, gennannt “Sassi” zu fordern, hat er heine Reihe von Dokumentarausstellungen im Ausland organisiert.
