Talk of the Town A Warm Welcome to Ampthill Park Good afternoon and welcome to Ampthill Park for our long awaited third home match of the season, which has come about sooner than had been planned. An extended warm welcome to the management, players and officials of St. Panteleimon, as well as to today’s match officials. Today's match has been rescheduled from January 2020 as both teams had a vacant weekend, following defeats in the FA Vase 1st Qualifying Round. Ampthill Town were beaten 4-2 away at Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division side Crawley Green. The visitors to Ampthill Park today were beaten 4-3 at home at the same stage of the competition by United Counties League Division One side Long Buckby. Whilst it’s disappointing to be knocked out of the FA Vase so early on, it does sharpen the focus on league performances. The last home match here was played in beautiful sunshine and produced 6 goals, as the Amps ran out comfortable 5-1 winners. Todays match is expected to be a much closer affair as St. Panteleimon, like the Amps, have got off to a very strong start in the league. The Saints arrive at Ampthill Park having won 5 of their opening 6 matches, with no defeats, and a very strong +20 goal difference.
In their first two matches of the season they scored six goals away to Milton Keynes Robins and went one better in the following match as they put seven past the Amps hosts last week, Rayners Lane. The other team that has faced both of todays teams so far this season is Bedford FC. The Amps won 3-1 at McMullen Park, with St. Panteleimon also inflicting defeat on them with a 4-2 win at the Saints home ground, Berkeley Fields.
Good footballing sides are always welcome at Ampthill Park as it brings out the best in the Ampthill Town players and makes for a great spectacle. If Ampthill Town want to remain in the hunt for automatic promotion this season then these are the matches they should be looking to win. As Harefield United and Broadfields United both proved last season, putting the hard work in early and opening up a considerable gap to the chasing pack is much better than being one of those trying to grab onto the coat tails of those running away with the top spots. Hopefully todays match lives up to these lofty expectations and all spectators get to a witness a hard fought encounter with the best team winning. Enjoy the match. Up the Amps!

Since we were last here... Away Day Match Reports Saturday 31st August 2019 FA Vase 1st Qualifying Round Crawley Green 4 Ampthill Town 2 The Amps FA Vase journey was short lived as they lost to Spartan South Midlands Premier Division side Crawley Green 4-2 in the 1st Qualifying Round. Both Ampthill Town goals were scored by Jamie Cerminara, but these weren't enough to see the Amps progress. Sixty eight spectators watched this encounter, and didn’t have to wait long for the first action of the match as the hosts were awarded a penalty after 5 minutes; this was converted by Mark Bunker. The second was then scored by Ajigbolamu on 34 minutes. Tyler Ingham then scored the hosts third just after the hour mark, with their fourth scored on 74 minutes by former Amp Sam Holmes.

Saturday 7th September 2019 League Match Rayners Lane 3 Ampthill Town 3 The Amps travelled to Tithe Farm Sports & Social Club with their unbeaten league record in tact. A brace from Jamie Cerminara and a solo effort from Ed Skinner helped Ampthill Town leave here with a point as they remain undefeated.
At one stage Town were leading 2-0 and 3 points seemed destined for Bedfordshire but the hosts responded and pulled it back to 2-2. Ampthill then led again but the home side didn’t give up and it was they that scored the sixth and final goal of the day as the match ended 3-3. Rayners Lane goals coming courtesy of Ronnie Blagden, Wilson Chingoka and Rob Hastings in front of 46 spectators.

Up for the Cup... All the latest Cup news
This season the Amps will play in no fewer than 5 cup competitions. This consolidated view will help to keep track of the progress made so far. FA Vase:
The Amps played away to Crawley Green in the 1st Qualifying Round, but were knocked out at the first hurdle 4-2. Both Amps goal were scored by Jamie Cerminara. Beds Senior Trophy: Ampthill Town will play their first round game away game against Cranfield United on 28th September. The winners of this match will play The 61 FC (Luton) or Shefford & Campton Town away on Saturday 2nd November at 2pm (so Enfield Borough away will be postponed if the Amps beat Cranfield). League Challenge Trophy: After beating Unite MK 2-0 away from home in the first round, Town have been handed a home tie against fellow Division One side Brimsdown in the 2nd round. This match will take place on Tuesday 29th October. The details of who we play next if we beat Brimsdown will not be known until after this match has been played (the draw is not predefined, unlike the North Beds Charity Cup).
Division One Cup:
The 1st round for this Cup has been made; the Amps have been handed a bye. North Beds Charity Cup: Last season Ampthill Town were finalists in this competition and the full draw is as follows: 1st Round (by end of Nov 2019) Bedford v Ampthill Town Langford v Biggleswade Biggleswade United v Stotfold Barton Rovers v Potton United Semi Finals Bedford or Ampthill Town v Langford or Biggleswade Biggleswade United or Stotfold v Barton Rovers or Potton United
Whilst the teams know who they will be playing and then who they will play if they advance, none of the matches have been scheduled yet. Already this season the home match against Milton Keynes Robins has had to be rearranged (originally planned for 28th Sept) because of the Beds Senior Trophy tie at Cranfield. The re-shuffling of fixtures is unlikely to end any time soon. Be advised.

St. Panteleimon FC (nicknamed “The Saints”) was established within the Greek Orthodox Community in Harrow, NW London in 2015, to create a sporting and family based team.
In the 2017-18 season the “Saints” entered the English Football Association system, joining the Middlesex County Football League Division 1, and were promoted as undefeated Champions.
As of April 2018 St. Panteleimon FC achieved The FA Charter Standard Club Award, presented by the Middlesex FA.
The 2018-19 season proved even more successful with the Saints claiming the Middlesex County Football League Premier Division Double registering only one loss for the entire year, winning the Championship and the Cup.
The Team was blessed by His Eminence Archbishop Gregorios of Thyateira and Great Britain. They competed in the Cypriot KOPA League for two seasons, winning the double in 2016, as Second Division champions and Cup winners.
There were also honoured to participate for the first time in their early history in the FA Vase, reaching the first round proper, after succeeding in the first two qualifying rounds.

Development Corner Latest News from The Dev This season Ampthill Town Development will compete in the Beds County League Division One. The below match report was written by Stuart Robertson following their recent 2-2 home draw with Kempston Athletic. Ampthill Development came into their second game of the season realising what they now face in this new league after a tough opener. Moving into men’s football was an eye opener for a few of the younger players. This week they faced another decent side promoted this season having finished third last year. The lads worked extremely hard for each other and asserted themselves from kick off. Moving the ball with pace and purpose they soon found themselves creating chances and pushing the opponents back until they took a deserved lead with a well worked goal through midfield movement and a superb dribble by Tom Cooksley finding a through ball for Josh Maxted to run in behind the defenders and apply a smart finish. Ampthill continued to control the game limiting Kempston Athletic to long shots which debut keeper Mitchell Howe dealt with. Midway through the first half a breakthrough pass allowed Aaron Mathews to get the right side of his full back. With 30 yards from goal he cut the defence open with his direct pace and clever movement opened his body to fire in the second goal. A few minutes later they came unstuck from a corner with Kempston stealing in at the back post to claw one back.

With the first half almost over Kempston scored from another corner with following a mix up between the keeper and a midfielder allowing a simple tap in. The 2nd half was very scrappy for a while with most of the play breaking down although Ampthill still created chances. The ref had no option but to give a straight red to an away player after going through Tom Cooksley. Ampthill a man up now started to move the ball much better creating several chances. Poor decisions and superb keeping meant the game finished 2-2. So 2 points dropped from a winning position but huge positives drawn from the game. These lads will grow into the season. Starting to gel together wanting to play the way they’re coached in keeping the ball and movement across the whole pitch. From being out muscled last week this weeks performance was exactly the reaction needed. With lots of players to come back and those looking to make their dev debut the squad is looking strong.
Ampthill Town Football Club The History Pages Ampthill Town Football Club dates back to the 1880’s, with reliable league records available from the 1950’s.
The club joined the South Midlands League at the start of the 1951/52 season; winning this league in 1959/60 (losing only two league matches all season) and were then runners-up in the following season. The Amps finished bottom of the South Midlands Premier Division in the 1964/65 season and started the following season in the United Counties League Division Two.
This prolonged stay ended at the end of the 1986/87 season when the club finished bottom of the league, winning just one match all season and finishing on a dreary 4 points (when it was 2 points for a win) and were relegated to UCL Div One. The club re-joined South Midlands League in Division One for the 1991/92 season. Then again as part of the reorganisation in 1993/94 Ampthill Town joined the newly formed Senior Division.
In 1997/98 the Amps were founder members of the Spartan South A few mid-table finishes followed and Midlands League Senior Division, but this season ended with relegation to at the end of the 1968/69 season, Division One with 16 points from 30 after a sixth place finish they were matches. promoted to UCL Division One. In 1972 the United Counties Division One was renamed the United Counties Premier Division. From the mid-seventies to the mid-eighties the club remained in the UCL Premier Division.
They bounced straight back and were promoted as runners-up, then followed this up with a runners-up place in the Senior Division at the end of the 1999/2000 season.
In 2001 the Senior Division was renamed Division One and this is where the club remained until 2011/12, when they finished runners up and were promoted to the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division. A fifth-place finish was followed by collecting the runners up medals in 2013/14. The club went from finishing second, to finishing second bottom and were relegated to SSML Division One. Finishing fourteenth for 3 consecutive seasons. That run was ended last season (2018/19) with a tenth-place finish.
early part of the 2018/19 season soon dissipated as results improved immediately. In the closing couple of months of the campaign Town won seven of their last nine league games with their only defeats coming at champions Harefield United and Buckingham Athletic. Among their wins was an incredible 11-0 win over Broxbourne Borough with Jamie Cerminara scoring five and Brandon Carney four, including a second half hat-trick. Ampthill also made it to the North Beds Charity cup final where they lost to Biggleswade FC.
Ampthill’s best FA Vase performance With 4 promotion places up for grabs to date is a quarter final appearance at the end of this season there will be in 2013/14 when losing to Eastbourne United Association. In the even greater emphasis on pushing same competition in 2017 they won onwards, as the club makes no 10-0 at New College Swindon.
