Elise Jordan, Board Chair Dear Members, I can’t believe that this is my last letter to you as Chairwoman of the Board of the Memphis Jewish Community Center. During the past few years, I’ve had the wonderful privilege of leading this great, vibrant organization alongside Larry Skolnick and his amazing team. I have always been extremely proud of the MJCC’s mission statement, “Connecting, Engaging and Strengthening Jewish Memphis” which I have seen so strongly held by each staff member, teacher, and volunteer. Thank you to the excellent team of innovative staff, as well to the many dedicated volunteers who have served on various committees during my tenure and worked so hard to ensure the success of our programs. In May, I will be passing the reigns to the incoming Chairwoman, Jenny Herman. I look forward to Jenny’s leadership and all of the exciting next steps in the MJCC’s future, and am confident that she will continue the great legacy of volunteer leadership that we have seen for over 70 years. I want to personally invite all of you to the MJCC’s Annual

There really is something about this place! Thank you again from the bottom of my heart to all members, staff, and volunteers who make the MJCC a place for everyone. I look forward to seeing you soon!
B’Shalom, Elise Jordan

shainberg art gallery "Listen to Learn. Learn to Act. Act to Change." by Darlene Newman Opening Reception: Sunday, April 7, from 1:30–3:30pm In the gallery April 1–30 It seems we are all so busy trying to do and get that we have forgotten to stop and listen - to our neighbors, to our children, to our friends, to our spouses. Sometimes we are too busy to speak up for ourselves, speak out for ourselves, for our benefit, for our mental health. What if we all listened more to others and to our inner selves? Not just to hear sound, but to process the history, needs, wants, goals, and struggles of others and self? What kind of society would we be living in? Do you want a better world? Listen to Learn. Learn to Act. Act to Change.
TN Craft Southwest Collaborations Gallery Show Opening Reception: Sunday, May 5, from 1:00–3:00pm In the gallery May 3–31 Tennessee Craft- Southwest (formerly known as MACA, Memphis Association of Craft Artists) is a chapter of Tennessee Craft, a statewide organization to promote fine craft and support craft artists in Tennessee. Participating artists collaborate with a fellow artist who works in a different media and together they submit a piece for the show. In addition to the collaborative piece, each artist may submit work of their own.
