Thank you for a wonderful and meaningful program. I particularly loved the stories. It is always good to remember that when we hear casualty numbers in a battle or attack, each number in that count represents someone who was loved and cherished. What a beautiful program to help keep the memories of those victims alive. Thank you for bringing it to us.
Thank you so much for bringing this very meaningful program to our group. It was a new experience for so many, and introduced a new way of thinking for so many. Thank you for all your effort and for offering to stay and help clean up. ~ Susan
~ Teri Taste of Memories was a beautiful evening shared with a sisterhood of fine ladies who grow closer from moon to moon. Learning about those who fell as well as the loving sentiments expressed by their mothers was very moving. I'm sure we all want to hold our children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews closer and treasure every moment with them. I loved sharing in the cooking and eating and also the telling of some of our own workplace stories. ~ Linda

Ahavat Chinam means ‘altruistic love’ in Hebrew. It’s love given freely with no strings attached. During the Three Weeks, a period of mourning recalling the destruction of the Jewish Temples – which our Rabbis teach was a consequence of needless Jewish infighting – the MJCC Ahavat Chinam Challenge seeks to build bridges, strengthen existing bonds, and make a bold statement of our mutual caring and interdependence.

Counseling The counseling program at JFS provides individual, couples, and family therapy for adults and adolescents. Counseling is provided on a sliding-fee scale based on the client's ability to pay. For more information or to schedule an appointment, contact JFS at (901) 767-8511.
Volunteering JFS volunteers have several opportunities to work with home bound Jewish seniors: Volunteer Driver for medical appointments/shopping, Kosher Meals delivery, Friendly Visitor, Stay in Touch telephone assurance, and Handy Helper for home chores. We also need volunteers to serve as Drivers with our Special Needs activities, engage seniors in our monthly Shabbat Shalom programs, work on various special projects, and to work with other MJCC programs and services. Interested? Contact JFS at (901) 767-8511 or amay@jccmemphis.org.
Kosher Frozen Meal Program JFS offers food to seniors and persons with disabilities through the Kosher Frozen Meal Program. This is a collaborative effort between Jewish Community Partners, MIFA, and JFS. Through this program, recipients receive five frozen meals each week. For more information, contact Teresa Hughes at (901) 767-8511 or thughes@jccmemphis.org.
Kosher Pantry at JFS In response to the Memphis Jewish Community, JFS opened a kosher pantry January 2016. JFS provides shelf-stable food to supplement the frozen meal program and serves those who are food insecure but ineligible for the frozen meals. Donated items needed in the pantry include: kosher food such as canned tuna in water, vegetables, pasta sauce, soup, canned fruit, peanut butter, and paper products. For more information or to make a donation, contact JFS at (901) 767-8511.
Case Management and Care for Seniors JFS at the MJCC enhances the lives of seniors and helps older adults maintain the highest level of independence by providing case management and comprehensive support to them and their loved ones. For more information, contact Teresa Hughes at (901) 767-8511 or thughes@jccmemphis.org.

Death and Dying Customs: Social Work Issues by Faith Cutural Diversity Life presents us with many challenges. Perhaps, the most difficult challenge is facing the mortality of a loved one, or for that matter, facing our own death. To compound this issue, there are significant cultural differences that surround end of life issues. Rabbi Joel Finkelstein and Mark Smith, Manager of Clinical Services at Methodist Hospice have years of experience in assisting individuals who are facing death and dying issues. Join us in confronting these problems in a positive and meaningful way. NASW TN Approval Pending for 3 CEU's. $15 advance pay and $20 day of program Thu 7:30am–12:00pm | 8/22 | 5813

JCC Member Stories Over 50 years ago Floy and her best friend Rose planted these daffodils in the front of the MJCC as Brownie Troop leaders with their Girl Scouts. In the years since, these flowers have continued to bloom and multiply. Floy’s dear friend Rose passed away at a young age in the early 1980’s and every year Floy comes to take a picture of their beautiful daffodils in bloom to send to Rose’s children. Such a beautiful story of a beautiful friendship.
Our JCC is a home away from home for many of us. For others, it may be out of reach. Give with your HEART and help us provide scholarships for those who COURAGE to ask for a little help. PLEASE RESPOND BY JUNE 30TH Questions? Contact Judy Goldberg at (901) 259-9243 or jgoldberg@jccmemphis.org.

donor spotlight at the J WE WOULD LIKE TO TAKE A MOMENT TO THANK ALL OF OUR AMAZING DONORS THAT MAKE OUR PROGRAMS AND BEAUTIFUL FACILITIES POSSIBLE. THE JUDY AND LARRY MOSS FAMILY PAVILION Judy and Larry Moss have dedicated themselves to our Jewish community, supporting our MJCC and other Jewish agencies for many years. The Judy and Larry Moss Pavilion is in honor of their family, passing on their legacy of giving to the Jewish community to their children and grandchildren. The pavilion is appropriately home base to our summer camp, where their grandchildren go to camp. This magnificent outdoor space allows for outdoor basketball games, fitness classes and a myriad of family programming.
THE KOSTEN TENNIS CENTER The Kosten Tennis Center was dedicated in 2000 in memory of Ethel and Leon Kosten, by their children and grandchildren, Herb & Marilyn Kosten, Alan & Susan Kosten, Isaac & Julie Kosten Nahon, Bobby & Ginny Kosten, Lori Kosten, Larry Kosten and Andrew Kosten. The courts were resurfaced in 2014, thanks to the generosity of the Kosten Family and the families of Peggy, LR, Charles, and Monique Jalenak. The exquisite three court outdoor tennis facility allows for day and evening tennis lessons for children and adults. This state of the art space is also home to our Tennis Camp during the summer.
THE DORIS AND HUBERT KIERSKY ATHLETIC FIELDS The athletic fields were dedicated in loving memory of Doris and Hubert Kiersky by their sons John, James and Glen. Doris and Hubert were leaders in the Jewish community, passing that legacy of philanthropy onto their children and grandchildren. The fields are home to 11 soccer fields and baseball and softball fields. So many outdoor sports are played on this beautiful landscape, including Soccer, T-ball, Softball and Lacrosse. Our summer camps also use this area for specialty sports camps.
THANKS TO OUR COLLABORATING PARTNERS FOR THEIR SUPPORT.
