HENDERSON, 17, SETS COURSE RECORD
C
anadian sensation Brooke Henderson finished third, one shot out of a playoff at the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic in San Francisco. In the process, she carded a course-record 7-under 65 in the second round and broke the tournament’s halfway scoring mark by three shots, at 135. She registered six birdies and an eagle in her 65 on Friday. Henderson, who won three pro titles as an amateur on the Canadian Women’s Tour before turning pro in
December, was playing in her second LPGA tournament as a professional. In Sunday’s final round, she hit 11 of 14 fairways with her G30 driver and averaged 270 yards off the tee. She is playing this season on sponsors’ invitations and competing in Monday qualifiers. Today (Monday) she was extended a sponsor’s invite to the ShopRite LPGA Classic at the end of May.
