BROOKE BREAKS THROUGH

B

rooke Henderson, 17, became only the third player to win before the age of 18 on the LPGA Tour when she earned her first LPGA victory Sunday by a commanding eight shots at the Cambia Portland Classic. Aided by long, straight drives with her G30 driver, the Canadian phenom set a tournament scoring record at -21 (66-67-65-69). She is just the second LPGA player ever to Monday qualify and go on to win. In 18 LPGA events during her career, she has made 15 cuts and posted four top 10’s (including top 5’s at the U.S. Women’s Open and the PGA Championship this season). See her What’s in the Bag on the next page.

PING #1 AT WOMEN’S AM, WINNER HAS FULL BAG

T

he G30 driver was the #1 model at the U.S. Women’s Amateur, where 26 G30 drivers were utilized. The winner played all 14 PING clubs and the runner-up carried 13. The champion relied on a G30 driver, i25 3-wood, G30 hybrids, i25 irons, Glide wedges, and a Scottsdale

TR Tatum putter. The second-place finisher played a G30 5-wood, G25 hybrid, S55 irons, three Glide wedges, and a Scottsdale TR Anser 2 putter. PING irons were the most-played brand with 38 sets in play, led by the i25 model with 20 sets, the most of any iron in the field.

WEEK

BUBBA’S BIG DRIVES

O

n Sunday at the PGA Championship, Bubba Watson recorded the longest drive of the week, 402 yards, at the 409yard par-4 13th, where he made his fourth-consecutive birdie. Earlier, he reached the par-4 6th green with a 330-yard drive that left him a 14-foot putt for eagle, which he converted.

PGA TOUR

David Lingmerth’s practice rounds at Whistling Straits (above) paid off with his best result in a major, a T12 at the PGA Championship. On Sunday he matched the low round of the day, a 6-under 66 and posted a -10 total (67-70-75-66). Putting with his Cadence TR Ketsch was his strength, as it has been throughout the Swede’s career-best season. At the PGA he was #1 in putts per G.I.R. at 1.543 and was #1 in strokes gained putting at 9.958. His prowess on the greens was one reason he finished T1 in birdies for the week with 25.
