MAGGERT KEEPS ON WINNING
F
acing a two-stroke deficit to start the final round, Jeff Maggert made his charge early with threestraight opening birdies. He strung together three more consecutive birdies later on as he became the Charles Schwab Cup points leader with his fourth Champions Tour title of 2015. Maggert, 51, is the senior circuit’s earnings leader with more than $2 million, the most he’s ever made in a single season during his professional career. His 14-under total (68-68-66) featured 17 birdies. The two-stroke win was his second victory in his past three starts. Among his titles in 2015 are two majors, the U.S. Senior Open and the Regions Tradition.

the playoffs beginning Friday at the Deutsche Bank Championship outside Boston. Next best to Bubba Watson’s thirdplace result at The Barclays was a T6 from Summerhays that moved him up 26 spots. PGA Tour rookie Ortiz fired the low
round at The Barclays, a sparkling 8-under 62 on Saturday. Both he and Mark Wilson climbed 29 spots and into the top 100 qualifiers for the Deutsche Bank. Gore jumped 19 places to advance in the playoffs. See PING’s full roster on the next page.

Bubba Watson and caddie Ted Scott demonstrated precision teamwork while Bubba displayed precise allaround shot making at The Barclays, where he finished third at -11 (65-68-67-69). As he typically does week in and week out, Bubba led the field in average driving distance with his pink G30 driver at 331.4 yards. The world’s #4-ranked player was also #1 in strokes gained tee to green at 14.072. ING pros Martin Piller and Andrew Landry earned their PGA Tour cards on Sunday following successful seasons on the Web.com Tour, finishing in the top 25 on the money list. Piller, 29, was second on the money list after two wins this season, and he returns this fall for a second stint on the PGA Tour. He has five career Web.com Tour titles. Landry will make his first trip to the tour. The 28year-old Texas native broke into the Web.com Tour winners’ circle earlier this year in Colombia.
