MAHAN STREAK ALIVE

R

elying on new i irons, Hunter Mahan came through with the clutch performance he needed at the Deutsche Bank Championship to remain the only player to compete in every tournament in FedExCup Playoffs history. His T4 (spurred by a thirdround 64) put him safely among the top 70 who will move on to the third leg of the playoffs, Sept. 17-20, at the BMW Championship. He made the biggest points leap of anyone in the field, 39 places, from 91st before the Deutsche Bank, all the way to 52nd afterward. It will be his 35th -straight FedExCup tournament. BUBBA, LOUIS READY FOR PRESIDENTS CUP

W

orld #4 Bubba Watson and #12 Louis Oosthuizen will represent their United States and International teams, respectively, at the Presidents Cup, Oct. 8-11, in South Korea. It will be the second Presidents Cup for both players. Sunday’s Deutsche Bank

Championship was the last tournament where players could earn points. Bubba’s place was certainly not in doubt after two years of consistent success, especially during 2015 when points were doubled. This season he’s won twice and had three second-place finishes among eight top 10’s,

pushing his earnings past $6.3 million. Oosthuizen’s 2015 season has been one of his best, highlighted by T2 finishes at both the Open Championship and the U.S. Open, among six top 10’s. He has climbed to 12th in the Official World Golf Ranking, up from 45th at the end of 2014.
