Whanganui District Council is creating a growing and well-connected network system of cycle lanes and shared pathways. A shared pathway is a route designated for shared use by people who are cycling, scootering, skating or walking. Shared pathways encourage active travel and provide easy, direct connections between various parts of the city – from the river, to the town centre and to the suburbs. For a map displaying Whanganui’s shared pathway network and information about project progress, visit the Cycling & Shared Pathways section of the council’s website at www.whanganui.govt.nz/cyclingshared-pathways Most of the shared pathways funding comes from Waka Kotahi NZ
