ARMADA MATCHDAY
The Armada FC host cross-state rivals the Tampa Bay Rowdies at Community First Park in the second annual Fan Appreciation Day presented by McDonalds. This afternoon’s match is the 2016 season finale. As a tribute to you, our dedicated supporters the first 1,000 fans arriving to the stadium will receive a Military Appreciation Scarf that was delayed due to Hurricane Matthew. In addition, a lucky row will be selected to receive a $10 gift card to WeGotSoccer which can be redeemed at their new location at 8570 Philips Hwy #109, Jacksonville, FL 32256, and one lucky season ticket holder will be randomly chosen to receive free McDonalds breakfast for a year.

IT MAY GET ROWDY Neither teams has come out on top in two meetings this year. In the last meeting between the two sides, the Fall Season opener on July 2, the two Florida foes produced a thrilling showdown at Al Lang Stadium in St. Petersburg. Midfielder Zach Steinberger scored his first Armada goal but ultimately the match would end in a 1-1 draw. While the archrival Rowdies have already claimed the Coastal Cup, the Armada will look to go out on top as the 2016 NASL season comes to a close at Community First Park.

ARMADA MATCHDAY
#99 FORWARD

Armada’s striker Charles Eloundou has given a standout performance game-in and game-out since joining in the club March. Eloundou leads the team with six goals, one assist, and 58 shots. He scored the fastest goal of the season, a 36 second stunner against Miami FC on Oct. 19. The 21-year-old Cameroonian has proven that he isn’t scared of much going up for 50/50 balls with any player in the league every single match. Has Armada found a franchise player in the young forward? Did you think you would be the team’s leading scorer back in February? Right now is a good moment in my career for me to be here with Armada. I am proud to have been able to score the most goals for the club so far this season. I am young and it has been a good experience this year. I want to add more. When I see my progression so far, I have come a long way while at Armada. This is the place for me. I want to learn more and gather more experience. This is the place I want to do that at. In Colorado, I didn’t get as much playing time. I have started far more games here in Jacksonville and have had to earn every one of those. I think I needed to be able to play to showcase what I had to offer and Armada has allowed me to do just that. Jacksonville has treated me very good and I want to be able to return that courtesy to the city. I have a one year contract, but it would be good to stay here next year. I like the staff, the fans and the city. What is your goal? Every player wants to play for their country and that will always be the first goal in my career. I want to earn caps on the Cameroonian National Team. If I am not striving toward that than I am failing myself. …And to the Fans? Thank you for your support. We need you the fans to push us forward. We are nothing without you and we thrive off your support.
‘PEPP TALK’ WITH COLE PEPPER THE END, BUT A BEGINNING The season’s final match against Tampa Bay marks the conclusion of the second season of Armada soccer in the North American Soccer League. While the record isn’t what the club had hoped for, there have been some terrific memories made and plenty of reasons for hope for the future. Memories? How about Keita’s extra time goal to beat Charleston in the US Open Cup? Or Matt Bahner’s 88th minute goal against Minnesota United on the road? Maybe you prefer Charles Eloundou’s development as one of the top young players in the league. My top memory of this year, though will be the celebration in Ottawa after the Armada won on the road for the first time in club history. The victory came in Mark Lowry’s first match as interim head coach and the joy of the locker room celebration was apparent to anyone who saw it. And that, over all, is the best reason for hope for 2017 and beyond. Lowry has proven that he can lead a team to be competitive in this league. Since he took over, Jacksonville has been in every game. In the most lopsided result, a 4-2 defeat to the New York Cosmos (the only loss by 2 goals since Lowry took over), the Armada led in the 83rd minute before surrendering two free kick goals and a stoppage time add-on. Lowry has taken the Armada from struggling to competitive and the next step is to become contenders. That’s what 2017 is all about.

With the news earlier in the week that the Tampa Bay Rowdies will exit the North American Soccer League to return to the United Soccer League in 2017, this afternoons match will be the final meeting of the two Florida foes in League competition. The Rowdies brand was rejuvenated in 2008 after initially being named the FC Tampa Bay. They began play with the USL in 2010 before transitioning to the NASL during the league’s inaugural season in 2011. The club plays its home matches at Al Lang stadium in St. Petersburg and is led by former Leicester City and Rowdies alumni head coach Stuart Campbell.
Coastal Cup Champions The Rowdies claimed the 2016 Coastal Cup in a draw with Miami FC on October 14. The draw gives the Rowdies their fifth trophy and first since 2013. Even an Armada victory today would leave Jacksonville just one point shy of the Rowdies 14 points.
