Iñigo Pascual tapped by Disney to sing “Coco” theme for PH release and the real score with him and Maris Racal
I
ñigo Pascual has been chosen to sing the theme song of Disney Pixar’s “Coco” for the movie’s upcoming Philippine release later this month. In a press release, Disney announced that Inigo would sing and appear in the localized music video of “Remember Me.” “I am honored to sing this song because it is about family and remembering the people we love,” said Iñigo in the press release. “It reminds us to appreciate the love and sacrifice that our families had to make in order for us to arrive where we are,” he added. Disney-Pixar’s “Coco” follows the story of Miguel, a young boy who wants to pursue his dream of becoming a musician like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz despite his family’s generations-old ban on music. Eager to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the colorful land of the dead. Iñigo’s version of “Remember Me”

advice. When it comes to choosing what I want to do even with my career path, di ba si papa dati alam niyo naman dati na ayaw niya ako mag-artista pero he still let me so that’s something that I really appreciate about him is how he supports me with whatever decision I make,” he said. The young singer is currently being linked to Maris Racal. Asked what is Piolo’s reaction to it, he remarked, “With Maris if you want to talk about that masaya ako dahil even with Kelley (Day) before, my parents have always been, ‘We want you to be human, we want you to be who you are as a person.’ dahil I mean being an artist is already hard just that maraming limitations din na kailangan mong isipin siyempre you are a public figure so simple things like that. My parents let me be already so masaya ako don.” With his apparent closeness to
Maris, Iñigo was also asked about the real score between them. “We are exclusively talking to each other. I mean I’m not talking to anybody else and I asked her she’s not talking to anybody else. We’re not an official thing but we definitely find each other very special to each other and very dear to each other and I find her very fun to talk to and I’m happy that I have her as a friend in my life,” he stated. Iñigo remarked that he is truly inspired by Maris’s dedication to her craft. Sobrang excited ako sa kanya dahil I’m claiming 2018 to be one of her biggest years kasi she’s starting to her own songs. We’ve co-written some songs together and I’m telling you that girl is something else. The songs she write it’s the new sound,” he said.

Kim Chiu, inaming may lolang ‘Ghost Bride’
M
“The Ghost Bride” ay kwento ng isang mahirap na babae played by Kim Chiu who was forced to marry a dead person for money. So kamag-anak namin ay ghost bride,” ani Kim. “So every Monday and Friday, every weekend dadasalan mo ‘yung patay. Tapos everyday pupuntahan mo ang picture niya, i-insesohan mo. So parang lahat ng
Kasi in exchange of your time and your life is money po talaga.

How to rock chinita makeup like Kim Chiu Celebrity makeup artist Jake Galvez shares what to do to make your Asian features stand out.

BY RHEA MANILA SANTOS
s Kim Chiu’s makeup artist for the past five years, Jake Galvez knows how to make her natural beauty stand out. “Kim is already pretty but she has very strict requirements in terms of the eyes on how all her makeup artists want it to be big and defined. “She has very chinky eyes so we use a lot of eyeliner on her because yung lash line niya is not really defined and she doesn’t have that much lashes so eyeliner and eyelashes is a must for all her looks,” he shared during the SM Beauty So Much Gifts events held last November 8 in Makati City. Having worked in the makeup industry for more than a decade, Jake revealed what is a must have beauty item for ladies with chinita eyes like Kim. “The best is to get the best waterproof eyeliner. She’s an actress so she cries in her movies and TV shows so it’s very important that it’s waterproof. Choose the most natural eyelashes for everyday, whether she’s going to do a soap or she’s going to do ASAP or an event,” he explained. J a k e also advised when you have features like the Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin star it is good to know what colors best suit your eyes. “When you’re chinita it’s very important that y o u
choose the right color of eye shadow on you. Because the eye shadow will actually matter if you’re trying to make your eyes defined or bigger. “Of course the neutral tones which are the browns, the taupes, and the navy, those are the ones that can make your eyes bigger. So stay away from using metallic colors, frosted colors or something that is iridescent in terms of texture kasi that will make your eyes actually look more chinkier or more bulgier. For Kim I use warm shades kasi yung colors that I used for her are more of the warm tones which is gold and bronze,” he said. ARTISTA WINNIPEG NOVEMber 2017 ISSUE

Romulo and Leah’s 50th Wedding Anniversary
I
t was October 15, 1967, at the altar of St. Ferdinand Cathedral in Lucena City, Philippines, when a beautiful young bride and a brighteyed young man gazed tenderly at each other and pledged their lives to one another - for richer, for poorer, in sickness and health. And 50 years later, on October 15th, 2017, Leah EnvergaMagsino and her beloved Dr.Romulo Magsino Sr., lovingly renewed their vows again. This time, at St. Vital Church, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, their procession was joined by their three children and their spouses: Romulo Jr. (Michelle), Tricia (Norman) and Mabelle (Alan) and all their grandchildren: Marissa, Aliannaand Chelsea, Maya and Nina, Alexander, Matias and Maileia. Also in the procession were the couple’sgodparents: Drs. Roland and Irene Guzman, Senator Tobias and RosemerEnverga, Mrs. DulcineaAbcede and Mr. Angel Enverga and secondary sponsors: Mrs. Grace Davies, Dr.
Rudy and Mrs. Evelyn Padua. The church, with its beautiful high ceilings, and the sweet and melodic music provided by Dr. Tricia MagsinoBarnabe and Dr. Julie Maniate, set the mass with an ambiance of reverence and beauty. Father Mark Tarrant’s homily was inspirational and heartfelt. He was in awe of the power of the couple’s love, from newlyweds in 1967 to 50 years later, in the fulfillment of a promise to God to stay together through good times and bad. The reception hall at the Viscount Gort Hotel Banquet and Conference Centre, adorned in enchanting gold décor, fascinated family, good friends, and guests from the University of Manitoba, Quezon Province of Manitoba(QPAM), the University of Santo Tomas Alumni Association(USTAA), the Knights of Rizal, the Ladies of the Knights of Rizal and Leah’s pilgrimage group to Portugal and France.Hydran-

Joined by their family and their entourage, Romulo and Leah entered the hall with the song “The Prayer,” in which Leah and Romulo recorded a renewal of their vows. Guests were welcomed by daughter Mabelle, who then encouraged the couple’s grandchildren to say a few words in honour of their Lolo and Lola. Following the invocation by Dulce Abcede, guests enjoyed a delicious dinner and dessert, with heartfelt moments intermingled throughout. Senator Tobias Enverga congratulated Romulo and Leah on their successful journey as a married couple. Asweet, delightful video of their life together was enjoyed by all, after which Romulo Jr. provided a cordial toast to the happy couple. That evening, musical entertainment was

Romulo and Leah enjoyably circulated through the hall to greet guests, take photos and express their delight in sharing their special day with everyone. As the program drew to a close, the celebration continued well into the evening. DJ Zoilo Ramos kept guests happily on their feet, as they animatedly danced free-style or line danced the night away. Special thanks for the delectable and stunning cake from Linda Ramos, of Gelyn’s.

Will Matteo Guidicelli give up acting to focus on singing?
M
atteo Guidicelli is hell bent on juggling his acting, sporting, and singing careers, despite comments that he should only pick one. “I’m just lucky that I have a good group behind me that I can do more than one thing at the same time,” he said of singing during his Hey Matteo concert’s grand press conference He added, “But right now I’m really focused on the music, i’m really focused on this.” With only a few more weeks before the show, The Ghost Bride star admitted that he is still quite anxious about his much-awaited third major solo concert even after he staged his sold-out second major solo concert last year in his hometown, Cebu. Does he feel more confident onstage after that? “No, it’s always a nerve-wracking thing. My confidence is coming from the band, the boys, us. What gets me relaxed are the boys, Sir Louie [Ocampo],” shared Matteo. Although he’s anxious about the show, Matteo said, “I want to focus on the performance and the repertoire.” Despite himself, Matteo admitted that he initially didn’t want a bigger venue for his show. Yung producers ko na ang bahala sa tickets!” he said with a laugh. Are there any other things that he hopes to dabble into in the future? “That’s it, I really want to focus on these things. I think I found the love in music, especially music with the band. It’s not just about me, it’s about us,” he explained. “I really want to focus and do it even more next year.

So ayun, kailangan gumawa kami doon ng parang celebration for the wedding.” So, nandito ulit po ako.” Felipe L. Gozon, “I, for one, talagang pinapanood ko ‘yung shows ni Aiai.” Dagdag din ni SVP for Entertainment TV na si Ms. Lilybeth G. Rasonable, “We love her and we love having her here in GMA.” In the meantime, Hindi raw maiwasang makaramdam siya ng kaba, bahagi ni Aiai Delas Alas tungkol sa kanyang nalalapit na kasal kay Gerald Sibayan sa long ka sa mga tao at bigla ring mawawala yung sakit,” pangunumbinse pa ng binata. Hirit pa ni Daniel, “Masarap magdonate dahil nakakatulong tayo to save lives.”
Sabi niya, ‘Ganyan talaga pag ikakasal.’ Parating may mga kaba, may mga agam-agam,” patuloy niyang kuwento. May kaba man, mas nangingibabaw pa rin sa kanya ang saya para sa kanilang pag-iisang-dibdib ng kanyang long-time boyfriend.

REFLECTIONS By Dr. Jun Vencer
THE POWER OF PROMISE
T
his morning, as usual, I woke up early to do my reading and prayer. In the monastery of my mind, I would like to be in the presence of God. Yet, somehow, I hear and inner voice saying, ”I really don’t like that.” You see, to be in the presence of God, the One who knows all about my thoughts and deeds, I feel uncomfortable. In His presence, I can’t compare myself with others and feel good, even believe that I am better or better off than they. In His presence, there is no hiding. One cannot cover pretenses before God who commands, “walk before me blameless” (Gen. 17:1). He demands a new way of life, coramdeo, before His very face moment by moment. Accomplishments are no defenses. I have, as Paul says, “fallen short of His glory.”

Then I glanced beyond my window. The morning mist makes the lawn look greener. The morning dews still glisten on the leaves of grass like diamonds against the breaking of the morning sun. Somehow, from Scriptures leaped out the words of God – new creation, new birth, new beginning. God is always in the business of doing something new! We were called to serve Him full time as ministers. Where? That is not mine to decide. It is always God’s. What God gave us is a promise that wherever, whenever, whatever may be the circumstances of place or nature of assignment, He will always be “I AM WHO I AM” to us. Metaphysical rhetoric? What does this name mean? Translated in its simplicity, God is saying I AM

THE ONE WHO WILL BE THERE WITH YOU. You will not be alone.I will never leave nor forsake you. I will be with you always. This is our God. Promise maker, promise keeper. Lewes Smedes once wrote: “If you have a ship you will not desert, if you have a people you will not forsake, if you have causes you will not abandon, then you are like God.” He cannot unlove because He is love. He proved this on the cross of Calvary. I realized like the certainty of dawn coming each day that there is nothing – not my doubts, my failures, my inadequacies - can make God abandon me, my marriage, my family, my ministry. He will keep His promises because of His grace and mercy, His steadfast love. I went back to my study and reflection only, by then, humming “In the power of your love.” I believe and am empowered by the power of God’s promises. Heaven and earth will pass away, but His Word will remain and His promises true. It is this power of promise – I AM THE ONE WHO WILL BE THERE WITH YOU - that gives me the hope to keep on going on, to dance the dance of faith, to soar
