What’s Next Kris?

rom the time Kris Aquino joined the show business world, she had often (if not always) been in the entertainment news, and quite a number of controversies. She was the press’ favorite item. Not only because she was a presidential daughter and now a presidential sister, but because, almost every one can say, she led a rather controversial life as well. Her marriage to San Mig Coffee Mixers superstar James Yap in 2005 might have ended all the unpleasant activities in her love life. When Bimbi was born, a sigh of relief…Kris had settled down to a quiet mother-wife role in real life. But no. Like a teleserye, a twist pops up in some unexpected manner, consistently entertaining the public. In 2010, after five years of marriage, Kris publicly announced her separation from James… then, the annulment which was based on the fact that the officiating minister had no authority to solemnize the marriage, which rendered Bimbi an illegitimate. And in such case, only the mother (Kris) has full authority over the child. But, James has the natural, legal, moral and inherent right to exercise his visitation rights over Bimbi. Then, Kris filed a Permanent Protection Order (PPO) against James, restraining him to go near her at a safe distance of not less than 100 meters, and from her residence and employment area. This PPO, according to many

Robin Padilla accepts Sister BB

hen Rustom Padilla came out to become BB Gandanghari, acceptance from his friends and kins was not easy, especially from his brother Robin Padilla. Much had been written about Robin Padilla’s open refusal to accept his brother’s gender preference. But, early this month, Robin Padilla made an instagram post that showed his son Ali doing some boxing moves with his “Tita BB”, with the caption: “My son Ali showing his boxing moves to my sister bb gandanghari who used to be my brother Rustom who beats me up when we was young, she #is so weak because of a very serious infection but her right cross is still as fast as before, my son was surprised and amazed” It all started when BB called Ms. Eva Cariño-Padilla and informed her that he is sick. BB’s voice was so faint that Ms. Eva rushed to her son’s condo and immediately brought BB to the hospi-

tal. Medical finding was, BB was dehydrated which led to ‘serious infection’. Mommy Eva was so scared that she phoned the rest of her children to come to the hospital. When Robin arrived, his greeting was, ‘O, sister, kumusta ka na?’ (Sister, how are you?). Ali, Robin’s son, refers to BB as ‘tita’. The rest of BB’s siblings were there, too. Though Mommy Eva admitted that BB’s gender preference is rather difficult to accept, she stressed that a son will always be a son and that she can never desert BB. And of course, of all people, Mommy Eva who is the happiest by the reconciliation between her sons. It was a minireunion and the entire family was very happy. But, despite the closure to a long-standing brotherly gap, BB is still disturbed by his state of singlehood. His siblings are all settled with their respective families. BB admits that it is lonely and difficult to be alone, without a partner.

4 ‘A new command I give you: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.’ How can this world know that we are truly disciples of Christ, members of His body? Is it by the name we wear? Is it by having the right doctrine, right organization, right worship, good leadership, etc? Are these our trademarks being disciples of Christ? Having all these things are all important & nothing is wrong. But if we think that by these things alone we are truly the disciples of Jesus & that by these things alone too the world will know we are Christ’s disciples....then we are sadly mistaken. You know what? - Shortly before Jesus’’ crucifixion, He identified a key mark of a true disciple. He gave us what He called .....”a new commandment”. (John 13:34). It was a command to “love one another”..... & “by this - all will know” who were His disciples. If Love for one another is how people will know that we are truly disciples of Jesus... Then, the question is Do we know what kind of love that is? How

do we develop that kind of love, ‘Jesus’ love’ & how do we demonstrate that love? A new commandment “A new kind of love”. There had always been the love of family, friends, relatives,this is a normal love. The bible taught us to “love your neighbour as yourself” (Lev 19:18). But Jesus said in the New Testament “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another” This is not just simply a command to love one another but a command to love one another in a - SPECIAL WAY! Jesus is calling us to a new & higher standard of love. What is that love? the love Jesus has given you! A sacrificial love- a kind of love which was manifested by the first disciples of Jesus - The church in Jerusalem (Acts 2:44-45) Another one is a visible love. By such love Jesus declared “by this, ALL will know....(or ALL has to know) that you are My disciples” why? high God, the One who saves you & me!!!!The implication is that such love will be visible, observable & noticeable. And has to be visible to ALL, not just by brethren & family but to our officemates, our bosses, our neighbours, our cities & countries. In some way, the world needs to have the opportunity to observe the disciples in action, in which their love that is patterned after Jesus’ love can be seen. In John 13:35, Jesus declares that when we love each other we will become ‘a magnet to the world’. Jesus is giving the world the right to examine our credibility as a disciple. That’s why Jesus expects something from us..It is also important to notice that there is an “ IF “ word involved in John 13:35. “IF you love one another”- believers can violate the love command. Failure to love does not mean I am not a Christian anymore, but it means the world has the right to make the judgment that You are not a Christian or a disciple of Christ. Remember when we accepted Jesus to be The Lord & Saviour of our lives we are no longer living only for ourselves but for The Lord. Our top calling is to represent Jesus’ love to the world - to love unconditionally. Therefore, if we expect unbelievers to know that we are Christ’s disciples, we must show the mark - that we are loving one another! Some practical application of a visible love is - by helping when it is not convenient- Remember that when you are doing these things (helping) -it is not only your pastor or you leader or the church sees you or The Lord Jesus...but it is also the world or the people around you.... This is actually an evangelism, by letting the world see how you care and love for one another. Specially here in Canada, this place actually is longing for a genuine love and you and I can offer because we have the love of Christ... Another expression of our visible love - is by giving when it hurts- there comes a time in our life that what we have ‘time, strength, effort even money’ just enough for us to sustain but still we are extending our hands. To make a difference in the of a life of a person is our higher calling from our Master. This new commandment of The Lord - a new kind of love- is actually very doable & possible. If we will all be willing to do it- to do our part because our Lord Jesus has already done His’. The evangelism is no longer an issue for us Christian. But even if this is a command from

The Lord, still you have the right to choose if you will follow or not, but you will stand accountable before The Lord if you will not follow..... Better to follow & make a difference!!!!! FATHERHOOD AND NATION BUILDING

atan has declared war on the Marriage and the Family. Steve Farrar (Point Man) has identified the Satanic strategies in this war: (1) alienation of husband from his wife; (2) alienation of father from his children; and (3) the loss of headship by the husband in the family. Social analysis tells us that these strategies are winning the war. Increasing divorces and cohabitations without marriages are on the rise. More children are growing up without knowing their biological fathers or are living in dysfunctional families with absentee fathers. Teenagers are getting pregnant in alarming numbers. The headship of husbands is opposed because it is misunderstood as a domination or superiority of the male. Headship is about authority and office instituted by God in the family. It is to be exercised lovingly and sacrificially as unto the Lord. It calls the husband to accountability by God for his family just as God called Adam to accountability in the garden (Gen. 1:9). If the family is destroyed, society will implode.In the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, completed in 1787, Edward Gibbon, lists the following reasons for the fall: 1. The rapid increase in divorce; the undermining of dignity and sanctity of home, which is the basis of human society. 2. Higher and higher taxes and the spending of public money for free bread …. 3. The mad craze for pleasure, sports becoming more brutal every year…. 4. The building of gigantic armaments … the decadence of the people. 5. The decay of religion - faith fading into more form …. Arnold Toynbee, the British historian, had written: “Out of 21 civilizations preceding this one, 19 of them have been destroyed by a mixture of atheism, materialism, socialism, and alcoholism.” How relevant are these factors to America today? Many prophetic writers are asking the question why the United States, the most powerful nation in the world today, is not explicitly mentioned in the last days? Some suggest that in the last days the United States has lost its world power by factors from within. Speculation?But if America is not trusting in God anymore, will God continue His blessings? George Santayana said, “Those who refuse to learn from history are condemned to repeat it.” But then Hegel also said, “History teaches us that man learns nothing from history.” Are we learning? God’s plan for the world was to be carried out through a family in Adam and Eve. Adam chose Eve over God and tragedy came to mankind. The generations after them became idolaters. God destroyed the world through the great deluge and a new start began with another family – that of Noah. The following generations failed. Then God called another family – Abraham and Sarah. To Abraham, the husband, God promised: “I will make you into a great nation … and all the peoples on earth will be blessed through you” (Gen. 12:2,3). Leon Kass (The Beginning of Wisdom) wrote: “Central to the national and political beginnings of the Israelite people is the right ordering of family relations: God’s new nation must rest on firm familial ground.” The promise was conditional. Abraham “Father of Multitudes” was called to walk before God blameless(Gen. 17:1,2). We are in Abraham and we, too, are required to walk before God as a necessary pre-requisite to fully enjoy His Contract of Blessing. Our Lord Jesus taught His disciples that He takes pre-eminence over father or mother or sons or daughters (Mat 10:37). Will his disciples lose their loved ones and possessions for His sake? Not so! When theLord commanded believers to seek first the kingdom of God (Matt. 6:33) He also gave the assurance that Hewill add to the blessings their “homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields (Mk. 10:30). Douglas Wilson, a theologian, observed that fathers are not included in the enumeration becauseGod is speaking to husbands.Restore Biblical headship and fatherhood in the family, and trust God to keep His promise to bless the families and the nations.Amen. Kuntento na si direk Joey ang magsulat para sa show dahil hindi rin naman niya kakayanin ang magdirek ng mga serye, anthology o sitcom. Wala raw siyang pasensya sa magdamagan o puyatang pagti-taping. Mukhang totoo ang statement ni direk Joey dahil sa pinaka-huling shooting nito sa comeback movie ni Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, natapos ang mga eksena ng pelikula bago mag-alas dose ng gabi. Isa pa, wala raw sa isip niya ang magdirek sa panahong ito. Mas gusto niyang magsulat at magpa-work shop tungkol sa scriptwriting sa mga bagong sibol na manunulat. Christian enjoys taking the lead

akakapagod man nagi-enjoy si Christian Bautista sa pagiging Kapuso network talent niya. Malaking challenge kay Christian ang panibagong task na ibinigay sa kanya ng GMA 7 nang gawin siyang leader sa loob ng isang buwan sa isang grupo nilang mga mainstays ng bagong musical variety show na “Sunday All Stars. May tatlong linggo na mula nang ibigay kay Christian ang pamamahala ng grupo para makipagcompete sa iba pang grupo na kapwa niya mainstays ng programa. Ang ibang leader ng grupo ay sina Jennylyn Mercado, Jolina Magdangal at Mark Bautista. Yun nga lang sa loob ng tatlong linggo hindi pa nananalo ang grupo nina Christian. Sabi nga nang dating Kapamilya artist, first time niyang mag-handle ng maraming artists para makipag-compete sa kapwa nila artist. Ang Sunday All Stars of SAS ay ang programang ipinalit sa Party Pilipinas. Bagamat, musical variety show rin ito. Ang pagkakaiba nito, makikipagpaligsahan sa isa’t-isa ang mga bawat grupo para

makuha ang “champion” slot para sa araw na iyon. Ang bawat group ay binibigyan ng kalayaang mag-isip, mag-conceptualize ng kanilang production number na ipamamalas nila linggo-linggo. Sabi nga ni Christian, hindi madali ang mag-isip ng concept o theme para manalo. Hindi kasi nila alam kung papasa ba ito sa panlasa ng mga judges na sina Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid, Jaya at Janno Gibbs. Hindi rin raw madaling pagsamahin ang mga artists dahil may kanya-kanyang mga schedules ang mga ito. Nai-stress man si Christian pero itinuturing niyang magandang experience ito para sa mga susunod niyang career path. Malaking tulong kay Christian ang trabaho niya dahil nagagamit niya ang flexibility niya bilang artist. Nagagamit rin niya ang creative thoughts niya para mag-isip ng mga bagong concept sa show. Buti na lang raw at wala itong conflict sa kanyang bagong serye at sa mga singing engagements niya kaya naman okey lang sa kanya ang magkaroon ng kakaibang trabaho.
