Pokwang in love as ‘Edsa Woolworth’ fter “My Illegal Wife,” Pokwang will hit the big screen anew with the TFCproduced romance-drama “Edsa Wool-

worth.” The actress-comedienne plays the title character, who is torn between family and love. She stars alongside Steve Spohn, Lee O’Brian, Ricci Chan, Lee Robin Salazar, and Prince Saruhan.

The filming of “Edsa Woolworth” started in May in the United States and wrapped up late last month. According to Lazatin in an earlier interview, the story revolves around Edsa as she takes turns to attend to her American stepfather, Frank Woolworth. This is Pokwang’s second TFC-produced major project, following “A Mother’s Story” in 2011. Both films are directed by John-D Lazatin. Jolina Magdangal sets record straight on ‘past relationship’ with Marvin Agustin

ith their onscreen reunion happening again soon, returning Kapamilya star Jolina Magdangal finally clarified what truly transpired between her and perennial love team Marvin Agustin. A good 12 years since she left the network, Jolina has finally set the record straight as to whether or not she and Marvin used to be a couple during her first live interview on The Buzz’s Sunday episode. “Para sakin kasi hindi, para sa kanya oo daw, Parang ganon,” she revealed. But she added coyly, “Pero inamin ko noon na love ko siya.” Jolina and Marvin’s tandem was born in 1996 in the teen-oriented TV series Gimik. From then on quirky Jolina and shy Marvin had been inseparable as they headlined TV sitcoms and rom-com movies such as Labs Kita Okay Ka Lang?, Hey Babe, and Kung Ayaw Mo Huwag Mo. Past rumors noted that they tried to become a couple, however fate had other plans as Jolina is now happily married with Rivermaya member Mark Escueta and is already a mother to their son Baby Pele while Marvin is now a father as well and a renowned producer and restaurateur. After a decade, Jolina and Marvin will be reuniting again onscreen at the Kapamilya network for their upcoming soap Flordeliza. THE EIGHT COMMANDMENT: PART 1 “You shall not steal” – Exodus 20:15

esus summed up the 10 Commandments saying, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:37-39). He condensed the 10 Commandments into two basic relationships: love of God and love your neighbor. It is bi-dimensional: vertical (God-ward) and horizontal (neighbor-ward). Love of neighbor requires us to hold sacred not only the person (6th C – You shall not murder), his marriage (7th C – You shall not commit adultery), but also his property (8th C – You shall not steal). Thomas Aquinas said that the breaking of the 6th C injures our neighbor in his person, the 7th C injures our neighbor in his marriage, and the 8th C injures his neighbor in his goods. Today, we live in a culture of lawlessness and immorality. Increasingly crimes against chastity and property are becoming common. On the 8th Commandment, a manager reported that on the first year of a hotel’s operation, the hotel lost: 38,000 spoons, 18,000 tiles, 350 coffee pots, and 100 Bibles. I remember reading an anecdote about stealing. In the USA, stealing can land one in jail, in the UK one can lose his or her visa, in the Middle East one can lose his hand, in the Philippines, stealing is for official use only. Of course this was intended as a joke in the light of rampant graft and corruption that grabbed headlines a few months ago. The problem is that no one is laughing! The 8th C is directed to the proper understanding of our right to property and our neighbor’s claim on our possessions. Property is what I own and free to dispose versus that which I merely borrowed and allowed to use, subject to conditions that the owner imposes. JIP, 89. In the OT, property defines a person. When one stole from or rob a person, he was to make restitution far beyond the value of the property stolen or taken. In fact, the Mosaic legislation deals with restrictions on one’s use of property and restoring to a neighbor what belongs to him such as a stray animal. The OT speaks of wealth as not incompatible with righteousness. In fact, prosperity seems to be the sign of righteousness. In the NT, Jesus, while not denying wealth as a blessings, focuses his teaching from wealth to spiritual well-being. The value of treasure is co-terminus with life on earth. Jesus shows us treasures in heaven. Our giving to God’s spiritual and charitable causes are legal tender in heaven. The 8th Commandments guarantees property ownership not only for ourselves but for others. Stealing from your neighbor, dehumanizes him or her. The call is to social order. Hence laws are established to provide clear boundaries as to what belongs to each so that they can live peacefully in community and expand. The concern of the commandment goes beyond ownership to one’s spirituality. In Communism, property belongs to the State, in Capitalism, property belongs to the individuals, but in Christianity, property belongs to God (Ps. 24:1). Ownership is stewardship. What a Christian owns – money, goods, legal rights and titles – are actually held in trust for God. God prohibits acquisition of anything by illegal and immoral means. Moreover, the 8th C makes room for others to grow. One’s success in wealth accumulation is against the background of the many who failed. Jerry Bridges says: What is yours is mine, if I can take it – thief. What is mine is mine, if I can keep it – selfishness. What is mine is God’s, I will share it – Godly Christian. What are the acts that constitutes violation of the 8th Commandment? 1. Stealing (Heb. Ganaf). “Covers all conventional types of theft: burglary (breaking into a home or building to commit theft); robbery (taking property directly from another using violence or intimidation); larceny (taking something without permission and not returning it); hijacking (using force to take goods in transit or seizing control of a bus, ship, plane, etc.); shoplifting (taking items from a store during business hours without paying for them); and pickpocketing and purse-snatching. The term ganaf also covers a wide range of exotic and complex thefts … [such as] embezzlement (the fraudulent taking of money or other goods entrusted to one’s care). There is extortion (getting money from someone by means of threats or misuses of authority), and racketeering (obtaining money by illegal means.) 2. Identity theft. It has done untold miseries to victims. 3. Plagiarism. Intellectual property. Unlawful duplication of books. 4. Counterfeit money.

erald Anderson and his girlfriend Maja Salvador will be teaming up for a project for the first time. Sam YG on experiencing discrimination: ‘I’m 100% Pinoy’

ven though he was born and raised in the Philippines, Magic 89.9 radio host and TV personality Sam YG (Samir Gogna in real life) admitted he has also had his share of dealing with discrimination while growing up in the Philippines. The talented host said he is already used to people who have pre-conceived notions of“bumbays.” “I’m 100% Pinoy. There’s no question about that. You’d be surprised kasi kahit my parents are pure Indian they speak Tagalog. That’s the language I’m comfortable with. My friends are practically all Pinoys, dun ako lumaki eh. Parang nasa dugo ko na siya,” he admitted during his launch as one of the celebrity ambassadors of the Cebu Lhuillier nationwide search for the Happiest Pinoy event held at the Shangri-la hotel Makati last October 24. Sam said that even though his daily radio program Boys Night Out can get a bit naughty, he said he always tries to balance out the image with being wholesome as well. “There’s always a line you have to draw. There’s a word na ‘bastos’ but there’s also a word na ‘pilyo.’ Drawing that fine line between hurting someone or offending someone and that’s where you figure things out. You can be a bit naughty or maloko, lahat naman tayo ganun eh. But as long as you know you’re not hurting anybody, you’re not stepping on anyone’s toes,” he explained. Now that he is a Search for the Happiest Pinoy ambassador along with host and author RJ Ledesma, he said he has always been a positive and happy individual. “Number one I think I’m a happy person. It’s commendable. They always see the glass half-full and that’s amazing. People in other countries maybe rich and everything but yung buhay nila hindi kasing saya ng Pinoy eh. They would come here and say this is the happiest place on earth, the vibe, the aura of a Pinoy is just different. As the nationwide search goes on until 2015, Sam gave tips on how to find your true happiness. “Honestly, I think it’s not just about being happy outside, what I’m looking for is somebody who is happy on the inside. Because it all starts from within. If you’re happy from within, I think it will come naturally to make other people happy and being a source of inspiration, a source of light to others. You can’t fake happiness from within. I do a show practically everyday, making people happy. And it’s hard to do a show na masama ang loob mo, mahirap yun. ‘Pag hindi ka masaya, malalaman ng tao yun. You really can’t fake it,” he said. Apart from hosting, Sam said he is also into several food businesses. “Since the ber months, there’s been a lot of things going on especially with events. There’s Bugsy’s Restobar, I’m one of the partners there and also there’s one coming up in UP Town Center very soon in Katipunan. Also Raven Manila at the fort and a shirt business for Boys Night Out called BNO Tees,” he shared. When it comes to his love life, Sam said he hopes he finds the right woman for him some day.“Siyempre ang sabi nga nila, ‘You can’t deny the Pinay’ (laughs). Sana may mag-invest ng love sa akin. Maraming tao ang nalungkot,” Jericho told reporters on Tuesday after the press conference of 2014 Cinema One Originals Festivals. Noting that John Lloyd has “valid reasons,” Jericho stressed that he respects the former’s decision. “I respect the guy so much. It’s just a project. Actors have the right to say yes, the right to say no. It depends kung ano ang sitwasyon at panahon,” he said. Jericho even pointed out that he had also turned down many projects in the past and that “Some people say na sayang ‘yung project, bakit mo pinakawalan mga ganoon. But I have my reasons and I’m happy now and I’m doing this.” When rumors about John Lloyd’s withdrawal

from the soap began making the rounds, speculations as to who could be his replacement also arose. To end the guessing, Jericho revealed that he heard that it was Xian Lim who was tapped to take on the role. “Xian kasi approached me and said, ‘You know excited ako na makatrabaho ka it’s an honor’ sinabi niya pang ganoon,” he recalled. Yet despite finding a replacement actor, the 35-year-old star related that their taping is currently put on hold following the consecutive holidays. “Medyo naka-pause kami ngayon, on hold kami ngayon, kung ‘yun ang gusto niyong malaman. But Xian expressed his excitement and I heard he’s been working hard on the role. So para sa akin as an actor I will give you my support,” he explained. Jericho will also share the screen with his former The Legal Wife co-star Maja Salvador. The Red actor said, “Very excited kasi si Maja na naman ang kasama ko alam mo naman kung gaano kakalog at kagaling ‘yon. At direk Dado Lumibao at ‘yung gumawa ng The Legal Wife, same team.”

Nadine Samonte on being called ‘walang utang na loob’: ‘Sanay na po ako’

a Aquino and Abunda Tonight, kinompirma na ang pagiging newest Kapamilya star ni Nadine Samonte. Ayon kay Nadine, grateful siya sa ABS-CBN sa pagbuhos ng mga projects. Matapos ang paganap ni Nadine sa Maalaala Mo Kaya, nagulat si Nadine nang agad makatanggap ng role para sa Hawak Kamay. Kinabahan diumano si Nadine noong una niyang sabak sa Hawak Kamay kasi iyakan agad ang mga eksena, ngunit mabilis naman siyang naka-adjust kasi “sobrang happy ang set.” Masaya rin siyang makatrabaho sa Hawak Kamay ang Kapamilya big stars Piolo Pascual at Iza Calzado. Dahil na rin sa pagpalipat-lipat niya sa mga estasyon, inakusahan si Nadine na “walang utang na loob.” Ayon kay Nadine, sanay na siya sa ganong akusasyon. Depensa naman

niya, “Tapos na ang contract ko with TV5 so nag-try po ako with ABS-CBN.” Dagdag pa ni Nadine, “Freelance pa naman po ako kaya walang issue.” Usap-usapan rin nang pumutok ang balita na isang taon na palang kasal si Nadine sa businessman na si Richard Chua. Bakit nga ba tinago ni Nadine at Richard ang kanilang kasal? Sagot ni Nadine, “Para may privacy naman.” Kwento ni Nadine, maging ang videographer at photographer ng kasal nila ay kinausap nila na hindi nila pwedeng ilabas ang mga kuha sa kasal. Pati raw pamilya ni Nadine ay hindi kumpleto nang sila ay ikasal. Ginanap ang kasal sa farm ng pamilya ni Richard sa Zambales noong October 30, 2013. Galing na rin sa Bali, Indonesia si Nadine at Richard para sa kanilang anniversary celebration. Naging relaxed naman daw ang kanilang bakasyon at sinusubukan na nila magkaroon ng baby.
