Piolo Pascual reveals secret to maintaining fit bod while satisfying sugar fix
f you think Piolo Pascual isn’t a fan of sweets, think again. In fact, he loves eating sweet food just as much as you do and even can eat four to six doughnuts in one sitting. “Nakakaubos ako ng sampler. That’s about six. Minsan nakakaubos ako ng three to four doughnuts,” he said
that you have to avoid. Okay lang ‘pag once in a while may mga craving ka, you balance it out with exercise,” he stated. Pascual, a firm fitness advocate, said he is conscious of everything that he puts in his body. “Pero ako I don’t eat as much food when I’m eating as much sugar. And
during a press event for doughnut brand Dunkin’ Donuts. He added ijest: “Masarap kasi kumain.” With several health-conscious individuals wanting to keep a healthy lifestyle by avoiding sweets, Piolo wants to let them know it’s okay to go out of your way once in a while. According to the Kapamilya heartthrob, it’s all about learning how to practice balance eating and finding time to do work outs. “At the end of the day, it’s all a matter of balance. Like ako kunyari ‘pag gusto ko may craving ako for something sweet, if I can finish like half a dozen box of doughnuts, I know I have to work out, I have to train, I have to sweat it off,” he said. The 42-year-old actor, who looks as youthful as ever, shared advice to those who are completely excluding sweets from their diets. “So my advice is for anybody out there to know - it’s probably common sense - if marami kang mag-divert or just limit your lifestyle. You know the things
you make sure to burn it. Ako, I’m always conscious about what I have to burn and how I have to look because I am my own product. So I make sure that I have a balanced diet as well. Even if I have my sugar fix, I make sure I balance it out with a training or work out,” he concluded. Meanwhile, Piolo shared updates on his upcoming projects which include several movies such as the one he did with Brillante Mendoza and another with Alessandra de Rossi who is set to mark her debut as a director. “I finished a movie with Lav Diaz. The Lav Diaz that was shown for Cinemalaya. But I finished a movie with Brillante Mendoza celebrating the 100 years of [Philippine] Cinema. And also, we’re participating sa Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino with I’m Ellenya L with Maris (Racal) and my son Iñigo. And I’m finishing a film with Alessandra de Rossi that we are co-producing. And November, we’re starting the film. And I’m finishing up an album. Hopefully, we get to launch it before Christmas season,” he said.

Just this April, Claudine starred in an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya and in a recent interview with Director Cathy Garcia-Molina, she confirmed that she is working on Claudine’s comeback film with Piolo Pascual, making it their reunion project too. “I just wanted to go back. I feel safe and happy here. Now, I’m okay. Hopefully this time talaga, tuloy-tuloy na. My children are very supportive of my work,” she told Metro Magazine. “This is the phase in my life where, parang siguro, sabi ni God, sobrang dami na ng pinagdaanan mo, this time, I will give you the desires of your heart,” she added. Claudine also shared how ‘excited’ her children Sabina and Santino with her comeback and the unwavering support of her fans inspired her more. “Hopefully after nitong movie, soap opera na. I’m so thankful sa Claudinians because they’re so patient and you
know, everyday, they inspire me. Kahit ilang years na ang nakalipas, they still believe in me. They’re my inspiration also, aside from my family. “Kasi before when I wasn’t working yet, they told me, ‘Mom, it’s okay if you want to work.’ So ngayon, alam na nila that Mama’s going to Florence for, like, 2 to 3 weeks. They’re actually excited.” Claudine has starred in a number of iconic films. She hopes that this movie with Piolo would be something that people could remember. “I want it to be a movie na matatandaan ng lahat ng tao at maipagmamalaki ng kids ko at ma-aappreciate ng generations to come,” she said. When she said she was a ‘better Claudine’ now, it’s because she has achieved so much peace in her heart. Earlier this year, she has also patched things up with her elder sister Gretchen Barretto and she’s proud to say that Gretchen, together with her family and friends, are helping her raise her children. “The way we met, ayaw na naming pag-usapan, kasi para sa’min, kung ano ’yung past, we don’t really want to go back to it kasi negative. It was God’s perfect timing, ’yun ang sinasabi namin talaga, kung paano nangyari ’yun. Oras na talaga para mangyari ’yun. Our parents are very happy,” she said. “For the longest time, I was doing it single-handedly, but thank God, I have Gretchen in my life now and Dada (Gretchen’s partner, Tonyboy Cojuangco) and her family and her friends to help me raise my children. Hindi ako nahihiya magsabi na she’s helping me raise my children,” she added.

As a filmmaker who specializes in the horror genre, Mikhail shared how he admires films that have ‘layered’ themes and discusses relevant topics. “Ako I really like films that are layered. Here there’s like a mother-son dynamic, and it tackles [other] themes like mental health. When asked for updates on the much-anticipated zombie movie, Block Z, which is top-billed by former love team Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia, along with McCoy De Leon, Maris Racal, and Yves Flores, Red said, “Medyo matagal yung post-production, kasi its a zombie movie maybe three to four months, it might come out December, or early last year, I’m not yet sure.” While waiting for the Block Z, Red’s another psycho-thriller movie, Dead Kids had just finished shooting and so fans can expect it to be released this year. “And then I just finish another one, Dead Kids... That one will come out first baka later this year,” he said. On the other hand, Abandoned is still available for free streaming on the iWant app.

“Miss Universe natin naman siya and what’s not to like, siyempre Miss Universe. And I heard she’s a very good person so I’m looking forward to meeting her,” nakangiting sabi pa ni Alden. “Kasi yung faith ko po, it keeps my sanity.

Sue Ramirez gets emotional over Filipino viewers’ lack of support for movies that don’t have popular celebrities
C
BY EDO DARIA
uddle Weather lead actress Sue Ramirez can’t help but be emotional while airing her sentiments about the supposed toxic culture of some Filipino audiences who only support movies with popular celebrities. During her interview on The Bottomline last Saturday, Sue said this issue has become unfair to a lot of actors and filmmakers in the industry. Masakit siya for us, kasi not everyone is as big as everyone, and I just feel like they’re not giving other people the chances that they deserve,” Sue said while pointing out the hard work of every staff and actor just to make a film. “I think it is unfair for me, that majority of people in this country actually look at who is on the screen rather than what and what can you get from the movie that you’re going to watch. It hurts,” Sue added. FDCP (Film Development Council of the Philippines) chair Liza DiñoSeguerra, who also led the Pista Ng Pelikulang Pilipino film festivals, also shed tears with the actress about the issue. When asked about the perspective of a film director, Cuddle Weather director Rod Marmol said that the issue could be coming from the fact that the films are expensive. Since they know that they can only produce one two or three films a year, ang gagamitin nila ay yung one, two, three actresses and actors na nakagawa na ng films na bumenta.” “Pero kung mas afford ng mga tao
ang mag-experiment sa iba’t ibang klase ng pelikula, the producers will do the same thing; mag-eexperiment [din] sila ng iba’tibang actors and actresses,” Direk Rod explained. Before Boy Abunda ended the segment, the host also left a few words to continue Direk Rod’s explanation. “And this is a celebrity business. This is a fame business. Finding a balance, will always be a challenge,” he said. During the same The Bottomline episode, Sue also shared how proud she is for her movie, Cuddle Weather. “I’m proud of this movie, because this has made me proud of myself. Because I took on a challenge I never thought that I would. It opened my mind in so many things, binuksan nito ang isip ko with judgment against other people. You don’t know about these people, so why you look at them with a perception na sobrang hindi mo pinag-isipan man lang.” “Hindi lang ‘to pokpokan guys. Maniwala kayo sa akin. Kasi ako mismo, I experienced change in myself,” she said. Sue plays the role of Adela, a veteran sex worker who will teach a newbie escort Ram, played by RK Bagatsing in the movie. Cuddle Weather is one of the 10 film entries to this year’s Pista Ng Pelikulang Pilipino, which will commence on September 13.

Sa pelikula, Enchong is playing the grandson of Anita na isang filmmaker. “I think nung nag-start kami, na-introduce naman sa akin ni Direk (Adolf Alix) na may mga lapses (on Anita Linda’s part), may mga times na kailangan mas malakas yung pananalita mo para mas maintindihan niya. “So parang prepared na rin ako mentally na, ‘Ah okay, kapag ganito you really have to be patient, you really have to adjust. Nabibilib ako kasi sabi ko how I wish I have that sharp memory when I reach that age,” dire-diretsong kuwento ng aktor tungkol sa senior cast ng pelikula. Kasi pagdating sa set, your co-actors are your co-actors. Kumbaga, sa isang school classmates kayong lahat. “After nung cut do’n mo ibibigay sa kanila lahat yung respeto, pero kapag natatrabayo kayo, we’re all co-actors. Kumbaga, they have their own medals, they
have their own accolades pero at the end of the day, this is work.” “Nung una, kay Tita Jaclyn (Jose), hindi naman sa natakot, eh, yung parang … kasi in your head alam mo na she’s an award-winning actress, she made history. “So parang at least, hindi ka nago-over acting.

hirty-year-old JC Santos admitted he has little problem when his directors give him specific points to look ugly, or unappealing, romantic or abandoned on screen. “Kase I will always make sure na hindi na ako yung nasa camera eh. Gusto ko makilala ng viewers is the man I am playing.” Internalization is the process of knowing the “pagkatao ng character” and concentrating to bring a character to life. This is something JC knows how to do given the number of complex characters he’s taken on through the years. JC, started out as a stage actor during his college days at U.P. Diliman. With many productions under his belt, he has no inhibitions when it comes to stripping down for a role. “Ako kase I don’t really mind eh. I am aware from the script for example that it is needed then I will do it. “Kung ano ang instructions ng direktor, I will know what to do already, kahit na sinong direktor. I simply know how to manage taking my clothes off. When I do it, it should look appropriate with my character’s actions. Hindi puwedeng basta hubad lang.” He explained how normal it can be for him to show some skin since he started doing stage acting in his teens. “Okay ako sa pagpapakita ng katawan kase,” adding with a smile. “Ginagawa

While shooting in Hong Kong, Maymay said she could not help but get close to her female co-stars like Kathryn Bernardo, Kakai Bautista, and Lovely Abella who all play OFWs in the film. “Hindi ko in-expect yun ha kasi siyempre si Ms. Kathryn tapo si ate Kakai (Bautista) kasi magkaibigan na kami since nung Loving in Tandem pa

At saka lahat go siya ng go,” she revealed. The new Modess endorser shared one behind the scenes story between her and Kathryn during a break in filming. “Gusto ko ito i-share. Sobrang saya ko kasi kumakain siya. Sabi niya, ‘May, tikman mo.’ Talagang sarili niyang kutsara (ginamit niya). Kaya dun ako na-i-inspire,” she said. na ang pagmamahalan nila so they need to agree to explore an open relationship, kahit nagtatalo sila,” JC said of his latest movie. Kasi kapag sinabi mong laplapan, may tongue yon. Pero wala siyang tongue. Lips to lips, with passion, with acting,” natatawang paliwanag ni Ina na sinabing nakadalawang take ang naturang eksena. “Kapag nandon ka na sa [eksena], you think of it as a choreography, you think of it as a blocking, it’s part of the whole thing. I have to sell it to the camera.
