Torrance Community On October 7 and 8, Division 19 South had a fundraiser for PTP. Shifts varied from 10am-12pm, 12pm-2pm, 2pm-4pm, and 4pm-6pm. LTG Christopher Kao and Executive Assistant Lenny Kuang showed up before 10am to set-up the game booth. The game is “Bucket Toss, where tennis balls are thrown into strategically hung buckets. A certain amount of tennis balls made into the bucket correspond to what size prize you can win. Sizes varied from mini, small, medium and large. $1 will give one tennis ball (1/1), $2 will grant three throws (3/3), $5 with will give you nine throws (7/9), and $10 will give you 20 throws (15/20). People varying from all ages would try to win a prize at our game. Whether they win or lose the game, they will always get a mini prize. One prize per customer.

Narbonne
This month of October, Narbonne Key Club volunteered to clean up at the Seaside Heroes Park on Saturday, October 14. Once we arrived at the park, we were given tools and were instructed to pull out the weeds near the walkway of the park. We managed to take out various weed patches from one side of the park since the weeds took a long time to pull out. While we were pulling weeds, we found a couple of slugs in the dirt, and we just moved them out of the way so we won’t accidentally smash them. Afterwards, we removed old vines from the walls and put the weeds and vines in the trash.

This month from September 29th-October 1st, North High Key Club volunteered at the St. Catherine Laboure Church Fiesta. Volunteers signed in and were sent to different areas to help out at the fair. . This event was a really memorable experience as for many of our volunteers were new members, the St. Catherine’s Fiesta being one of their first high school service events. Our club definitely saw this event as a success and found that many of our newer members very much enjoyed meeting new people through our club and through this event. Knowing that, we will absolutely volunteer with St. Catherine’s the next time the fair comes around!

PVPHS Key Club participated in in the Payless Shoe Event where the children of families that can't afford new shoes and school supplies were able to choose a new pair of shoes to their liking. Our Key Clubbers helped measure and choose from the variety of shoes for the children. Putting a smile on the kid's faces when they found a shoe that they liked was more than enough reason to have purpose to serve. This event was made possible by many founders and we couldn't have made the children smile without them.

This month, we really focused on establishing the new school year’s key club and getting new members engaged and involved. We had hundreds of member sign ups on club sign up day, and our first meeting was the following Tuesday. We also had service events. At the Alzheimer's walk, we helped set up booths that would be used for vendors and advertisers during the walk and worked at some of these booths, providing services to the walkers and answering questions. We had the Pumpkins in the Park, at which we set up and ran games for local kids as well as cleaning up. We volunteered at the Hermosa Beach Women’s Club Pancake Breakfast, bussing tables and serving as well as running activities for the kids. We have been busy getting ready for the year up ahead and can’t wait to see what will come next!

Carson Complex
One event Carson Complex Key Club volunteered and participated during the past month of September was the Global Energy event. This event took place on Saturday, September 23 at the Northgate Gonzalez Markets in Wilmington, CA. Participants were given the obligation of passing out bibs to runners of the marathon and carrying boxes. Stacy Estabilio, a volunteer, reported “I believe this event was helpful and that we contributed to the community by gathering together and doing a small act to create a big impact for those doing the race. This event benefits our club it brings people together and we get to interact with one another as well as returning the favor and providing service to the community.

How to prep for Fall Rally Coming up is a joint Spirit Rally with D19N on November 4th. Location and time is temporarily tentative. During this gathering, we will be able to get to know our other half, D19N! There will also be a Spirit night on November 10th with time and location still to be announced. These two event are mandatory for those who wish to attend Fall Rally, so make sure to show up!
What is the Pediatric Trauma Program? It is a program sponsored by the Kiwanis CNH Foundation that organized projects in order to reduce the number of children affected by Pediatric Trauma. The funds we make go to our local hospitals, grants to Kiwanis and SLP clubs, and PTP safety items.
HOP to see you all there! 25
